I used a brush with alittle leftover resin to stick my gold leaf it worked perfectly. A little hair spray from far away glad it is still together 😊🤩yours turned out beautiful 😍

Thank you so much!! I just learned the most important thing, that I was not doing.
I didn’t do the plastic to smooth out the gold leaf. I kept pulling it up, and I had place where the gold leaf kept coming off in small areas. So truly, thank you! 😊

Regular Mod Podge is just PVA glue (also known as permanent white glue, craft glue, book binding glue, etc) thinned with water (enough to make it thin enough to be able to be applied thinly or it won’t dry clear, but never more than 50% and usually more like 3 or 4 to 1 depending on original thickness of the glue).

I heartily recommend picking your leaf sheets from the book with a slip of waxed greaseproof paper, rather than your hands. It keeps it flat, almost guarantees no errant flyaway slivers, and helps apply it without wrinkles.

To avoid the marks left at the end of each leaf, once the first layer of lue is applied and has druide, work mal by small areas and lightly wet the surface where you want to apply the gold leaf. My recommandation is that you should never work a wide area which has been fully died. Glue, dry. wet and apply gold. At the end use bitume de jurée laquer to accentuante the rediliance and give âge to your work.

Hi Sheri. I see you're using imitation gold leaf. I'm wondering if there is absolutely no tarnishing over time when it is sealed in resin? I'm considering starting with imitation gold leaf as I begin to make resin jewellery so I'm wondering how long this beautiful gold colour will last encased in the resin? I will consider using real gold leaf in the future....but for now I think the imitation would work fine. Any insight on this would be very helpful. Any thanks for all your amazing videos.

I was wondering can you use solvent based acrylic varnish under oil paints and over them or just under ? Also what do you use to varnish at the end of the oil painting ? and which board do you use to paint on as I am using canvas and the foil takes on the weave. Thank you for sharing your video and your work is really beautiful.

Thanks. I’m ordering the DUX brand (which is oil based sizing) off Amazon. Along with 24k gold leaf and pure silver. Finally doing something more creative with my four leaf clovers other than cold laminate cards from Walmart lol. I’m also using a two part resin that will be in contact with the gold leaf. Think that’ll be a problem?? I’m gonna make sure to let the size set for at least 48 hours (after leafing) before I introduce the resin part.

I am currently working on a set of acrylic painting with gold leaf on some patches on canvas board after I am finished with the painting i am not going to frame it which means the canvas will be exposed to light and air. So for varnishing i have the spray one which is multipurpose spray used for automobile, furniture, etc. Can i use it for the gold leaf acrylic painting?

Sherri, I'm one of your new subscribers! I have a question about the Modge Podge that I should use to cover a canvas with. Should it be the Hard Modge Podge or the other one that is softer? I think that the latter one is the one you use, but I just want to know if it's the hard Modge Podge or or the regular one? I'm want to order the right one! Thank you, and you made me not be so frightened at the prospect of trying to do one of these for the first time. Thank you so much for helping me! Best wishes and Bravo to your impeccable work with gold leaf.

Sheri, thank you for your presentation. My husband was excited about me wanting to try these type of art projects. He went ahead and bought me some gold-leaf sheets, and some other supplies so that I could have a try at it. The only thing that I am worried about is that he bought me some Modge-Podge.but he bought the Purple Midge-Podge, the hard tack one, not the Yellow bottle. I am wondering will the hard tack Modge-Podge still work if I mix it 50% Modge,-Podge and 50% water to apply the gold-leaf sheets to the canvas? Is the hard tack purple bottle of Modge-Podge too strong since it is hard tack? Will I still be able to use it as the adhesive to glue the gold-leaf sheets on to the canvas? I hope so. Please give me your opinion, as I am certain you will have a good answer for me. Thank you and Bravo and Cheers to you and your work!

One more reason to clear coat, or varnish is that imitation gold is poisonous to eat whereas real gold leaf is not. Just a small FYI in case your leafed work is around kids etc.
    Very good video though
