His playing has always struck as a fellow guitarist. He plays songs , his hands become the words and the notes become colors . a true master of the instrument .
I saw Johnny Live in Ma. one night he was absolutely fantastic...I have a couple of his cd's and his T shirt that I wear proudly ....When Gibson names a guitar after you you know you are good and he is Very Very Good!!!! If you ever get a chance to see him he is a super guy and you will never forget him....
I had the great pleasure of recording guitar for Tony Sansoni, the writer of this song ... He'd love this version of his beloved tune.. I'll send this to him... Great great version Johnny!
Real Guitar, I like how you gave the proper songwriting credit to Tony Sansoni. The keyboardist Michael Brown, who played the harpsichord on it, tends to get credit, maybe because the girl of the song was in the studio , and he said he was too nervous to play, having to wait till she left.
I play this song in a different key (G) and get lots of compliments on it, but this version is vastly superior to anything I can do and it blows me away. This guy is just amazing and I bow to him! By the way, go see him play live if you like a great guitarist who makes everything he plays look effortless. I'd really like to see some of his chord arrangements. Well done, Johnny!
For the first time I saw JohnnyA I was blown away.He played in Milford N.H. and it was the best show ever...It was a Blind Lemon Aid event...I tell ya ,The next Day I was still talking about it...WOW Thanks to Brian for the tickets.
he is an amazing artist I first met him with Peter Wolf and the House Party 5 I have been a big fan of his ever since one of the Worlds Top guitar players
Saw him couple years ago at old Jewish Mother in Va Bch...I was about 15' from stage...a fantabulous show. Rythmn section was great and Johnny was humbling and inspiring at the same time. LIve tone every bit as gorgeous as him recordings
Here is one of the most tasteful and smart guitarists around....and one of the least known away from Boston. Check out his Wichita Lineman instrumental also.... I wish this guy all the success in the world.

And he doesn't have to pay a singer...
This man is just incredible. A painter on strings! Long Live Johnny!!!!
An almost straight reading of a classic. Shows maturity and respect. Absolutely beautiful.
Glorious guitar playing befitting a glorious sunset! Sounds that are rays of light in my soul. Much respect Johnny A.
This is real refreshment in todays no imagination world of music !

Thanks...I'm always curious how a composer would feel. I always cover a song with only maximum respect intended.

One of the mosy beautiful melodies from the 60, well done Johnny! I still have the original vinyl in mint con.
I attended Graham Jr.College in Boston in the same class with Johnny and Jon Butcher. High times and GREAT music.
So beautiful, such a great rendition of a classic '60's song.
What a treat it must have been for any hikers close by to be listening to that music while in the woods at sun down. I love NH.

Wow, anyone have a transcript of this?
Got it Billy. Just wondered what particular mountain this was. (I live in NH)
The chord changes.....You know what I mean, not right. But beautiful.
Just re-harmonizing the D major with the relative Bm for a more somber effect...so what!!
Not a putdown, by any means. Just something I noticed. The song lends itself to so many voicings, and this is yours. Beautiful song.
How cool is this?! I'm a NH boy. Anyone know which mountain this was recorded on?
Check out Johnny Marrs version on Billy Braggs cover.
Does anyone know where I can purchase a recording of this?
If you go to the SHOP on JA's website and buy the album of One November Night, this comes as a bonus track. www.johnnya.com/shop.html
