The Pentel SMASH is my absolute favorite pencil. It has the perfect weight amd balance and it feels really precise. I get it's not pocket safe, but it's a pro for me since that's what makes the the SMASH such precise feeling and solid pencils out there. There's also the collectibility factor you mentioned. It's one of the pencils with most variants out in the wild. Some of them do get in the crazy expensive range, such as the elusive 0.9mm SMASH.
I can't believe it, you are still reviewing mechanical pencils! Let us say you have 365 mechanical pencils (I am sure you have more). Even if you used only one different pencil everyday, you will repeat the same only after one year. You won't get to use all of them sufficiently.
I can't believe you actually responded! I must say you introduced me to the Pentel P205, which one of the best designed pencils! I did realise after trying it out.
Nubs like the Graphgear1000. Not my cup of tea. I find them very irritating to write with. But many find them very comfortable. Of course 'they' are wrong and I am right. . . .just sayin'.
I'm not a fan of nubs, but that may be because I'm not a fan of fat grips in general. My fingertips are thin and my writing pressure is light, so wide grips feel uncomfortable.

You should review the TUL 0.5mm Mechanical Pencils
They're pretty cheap, and has really neat features for the price.
Truly a workhorse of a pencil
