@@planetfishness hey i think i have a vid idea for you!! WHAT IF YOU MAKE A VID GOING ON A SHOPING SPREE FOR YOU HAMMY not only will it be a cool video but you can also add more inrichment like more toys. Hamsters need alot of toys and i mean alot so if you full up the whole space dont worry, as long as you hamster is happy and doesnt get deppresses its oki!! :D
I have a hamster and i would get more than 2 hides. They need as many hides as possible! But i love that your doing so much reasearch! Also i have that bannana chew for my hamster ♥️♥️♥️
@Lydia Julianne no. They shouldn’t! First that could DROWN the hamster. As they can’t swim.. And also they should not have contact to open water? As they are ment for sandbaths not water baths.
@@Strawb3rryDuck You can get a really small or shallow water dish. Mine is a little deeper so I have rocks from outside that I’ve properly cleaned to fill that space. My hamster drinks from it just fine and has never attempted to climb in or anything of the sort. As long as it’s done properly it’s entirely safe.
For bin cages i would check a hardware store like Lowe’s or Home Depot! They have big storage Bins meant for long term outdoor storage and they are so much cheaper than target or Walmart. I’d also suggest a Large silent wheel that is actually silent, if you roll it in the store and it makes noise it will be amplified by the weight of the hamster! And like some other comments said, the more hides and enrichment the better!
Well done with your research. Put in that sand ASAP, that looks like a roborovski, and they love playing in sand. A bit more hides, when hamsters get scared or stressed, they like to hide. It looks like you got hay blocks which they might eat, but he/she needs a seed mix ( best is Higgin’s sunburst )and lab blocks. Overall, everything looks great and you’ll have a happy hamster🐹
I recommend adding more bedding at least 6 inches ( I recommend 10) and crowding the cage a bit more with hides and tunnels. Victoria Raechel has many helpful hamster care videos. I know you said the cage was temporary but these are some tips for when you upgrade. 🐹
It's nice that you started with a bin cage, when I rescued mine I started with a bin cage too. What I would recommend is the clean and cozy bedding because it's softer and thinner for him to be able to make his tunnels. You don't have to change it, I have different types of bedding mixed so he can feel different textures too. and be sure to give him enough height in the bedding, I recommend from 6 to 10 inches. And for sand, be careful to not get anything dusty because it can give him breathing issues, I recommend reptisand, because it's soft enough and doesn't leave dust. Hope this helps, you're doing awesome!
He is so cute! 😊 It's amazing that you not only saved him but decided to keep him and take care of him despite a possible allergy. It's also impressive that you provided such great care at such a short notice. Great job! I'm sure little hammy will be happy with you.
I suggest putting moss in the tiny gaps on the bendy bridge. Many hamsters have been known to get their feet stuck in them and were severely injured or lost a limb because they couldn't get out of the gaps! It's just safer and makes it look a bit more natural as well :)
I know his Old bedding wasn’t good but it’s very stressfull to come into a new cage with a lot of new scents(?) just warning you to when your gonna upgrade please use bedding that he’d already been in it’s Less stresfull //also sorry for my grammer but i have dyslexia and i hope you listen to my advice
Hey your care is so good!! But I do recommend getting at least two more hides for hamster One for the outside cage and then another one that has an open bottom that he can use in the sand bath!! Hamsters need as many hides they can get!!
Hi! The care your giving your hamster makes me so happy! You seem to know what your doing :) I recommend checking out Victoria Rachael on you tube , all of her care is correct and she makes very interesting and informational videos and just coming from me and lots of other people’s experiences from roboroski hamsters they all recommend that you have a semi crowded cage and i just recommend adding 3 or 4 hideouts in the cage❤️❤️❤️ I recommend the name river, willow, nugget, and toe kinda weird names but oh well
I would recommend getter more hides. Roborovski’s are fairly small, so they’re very skiddish and are going to need places to hide and climb under. You’re onto a great start, and I’m so happy that a wonderful person like you found this Hamster. Amazing job!
I would add more bedding hamsters need at least 6 inches of bedding I recommend Victoria Raechel, she gives great advice and also the name pine would be cute. ❤❤❤
Weird video to post it on, but you inspired me to set up my old aquarium and put live plants inside. I also got a male betta that wasn’t looking too good from Petsmart because of his disgusting water and he is doing amazing!
Growing up my friend had a hamster and bought all kinds of the plastic tubes and we made one big maze and taped them to the wall. It went from floor to ceiling and about 6 feet wide. The hamster had a blast going through the tubes. We also had the little clear box pieces that he could stop and rest in.. Lol. The bad part was when we would take it a part every other week to clean and wash the tubes. It was a day long process but the hamster had tons of fun.
Hamster should have at least 6 inches of bedding (I prefer 10in) and you should add some of its old bedding so it’s not too much of a shock bc he will still have some of its old scent
Have you tried Home Depot or Lowe’s? They generally have a large stock of bins I rescued 4 mice the owner has them in a 40qt bin the same day I got them I went to Home Depot and got 116qt which was $21 but I get antsy so I made my own mesh cage with a storage bin as the base it’s 3 1/2ft long 2ft wide so plenty of space. It baffles me that people are spending so much money on these small cages when you can get a large bin and have money left over for toys and other goodies 🐹
It makes me happy to see he is safe and he/she knows that it’s with someone who actually cares and is safe with them. He/she is soo cute the name should be teeny idk any other names but teeny sounds cute.💖
I’m so glad that you found him! You guys have such a big heart to take him in even at the possible risk of allergies. Some possible names could be like Finn, from Adventure Time, Greg/Gregory from Over the Garden Wall, or just Kodiak because he looks like a little bear. I love your channel and can’t wait to see more of this little guy! ❤️🐹
A lot of people left great comments! I hope mine are not too repetitive. He is adorable and I bet he's so much happier in his larger enclosure. I'm not sure if its been suggested but as robos are desert dwelling hamsters, it's best if 1/3 if his enclosure is sand. Also I really recommend the niteangel medium sized wheel for him! I believe yours is 6.5 inches in diameter which is actually too small for robos. The updated minimum is 8 inches, 10 is recommended. The niteangel medium is 10 inches and though it looks huge they have no problem utilizing it at all. Also I would recommend if you get any bendy bridges to cover any larger gaps with sphagnum moss! It's common that hamsters get their feet stuck and break their legs from that. Mazuri rat & mouse lab blocks (broken into smaller pieces-robos seem to not like eating the huge chunks)+ higgins sunburst seed (scatter fed) is the best combo along with fresh food and protein sources like dried mealworms. Congrats on your little buddy :D
I got a bin from target that is 640 sq in for my robo and it fits on my keyboard stand, RIP my keyboard now in the corner lmao. But a fun thing for robos (And a way that I save some bedding) Is to use one of those bending log bridges as a devider and doing half the cage in children's play sand! 30 pound bag is at lowes for 3$!! and I tower the other side with 9 inches of paper bedding (Mix between unscented hamster bedding and toilet paper as well as some shredded tissue paper. The half sand I put his wheel and stuff on so its flat, and offer hides on both sides. Its very cost saving for you and fun for hammy! Also would suggest maybe getting a cooling slab (Depending on your temp) its pretty funny seeing my boi stretch out in his sand or slab to cool off. All in all excellent work though! It warms my heart to see people actually doing research and giving hammy's proper care. Also your stuff for bettas is amazing as well, my boi shot was on the bottom of the rack at an old petsmart for 2$ because kids in a school stopped caring for him. I got him with torn fins and missing scales and he is now thriving!! Nothing against the pet store either, my friend Rob from there actually called me from there to ask if I would take him. Excellent job and cant wait to see more of the robo!!
I'm so glad this little buddy is doing good now! If you are looking for a large bincage I recommend the IRIS Christmas tree bin, you can buy it year round at the container store!
This set up is AMAZING and it’s so great that your giving this poor hamster an amazing home! I know your just trying to get the hamster all settled and this is not the real enclosed but I would just recommend putting in a small hide for the hamster to sleep in. You can seriously just make this out of cardboard. I also have a robo and he loves cuddling up in his hide! Your such an amazing person and this hamster would probably not be alive without you! Thank u!
Thank you for rescuing the hammy! I run a small animal rescue and have several hams! Great job on your cage! I would recommend adding several more hiding spaces. Also can add empty paper towel or toilet paper rolls. Bury some of the rolls under the bedding to make tunnels for him! 🥰
i like the name forrest or Gump because he’s from the forest and he likes to run LOL i’m really glad that of all people to rescue him it was you since you gave him all the proper things for him to thrive
This is so adorable! I’m so happy you saved him! I adopted a baby robo who had been given up to a local pet shop in the U.K. at only 12 weeks (the one I go to regularly doesn’t sell pets, just has an adoption centre for abandoned pets, my assumption was he was bought for a kid that found they couldn’t handle him, as dwarves and especially robos are fast and kinda difficult to handle, so they gave him up - might be the case with your ham too!) I had to buy a cheap crappy cage to bring him home in, but if you’re struggling to find the bin you want, I actually found someone locally that made custom hamster/gerbil tanks with mesh tops that only cost me about £100, and they can make it to your requirements! Just a suggestion if you can’t find the one you want, I found mine on eBay, but his current bin cage looks awesome anyways, and you did an amazing thing by saving him!
Hi, maybe a suggestion... If you want your cage to be clean you maybe wanna spot check clean at least once a week. So that it doesn't smell. E. g : check spots were the hamster usually goes. Clean the edges. Sand boxes make it easier so that it will litter in the sand box, not outside. I hope this helps. Adorable hamster btw:) Edit : I love who you are saving these animals. You should check out @Victoria Raechel she is amazing. For more hamster tips.
What I did with my pet mouse for the bin cage is get 2 bins and cut a hole on both sides and put a paper towel tube through and glue it and she can go through to the other side and back! It’s great to u can add on to it!
You might need to put a little more bedding you want as much as possible the bare minimum for bedding is 6 inch but I recommend 10! No hate just giving a tip :) you might also want to put more hides and I recommend a bigger wheel Victoria Rachel is a great hamster care channel I like 👍
Idk if people realize how great of a person you have to be to see a helpless animal that someone discarded. Take it home then spend into the hundreds of dollars just to give it a proper life. Without know its history at all
I stumbled on the rescue vid and loved it, this is great!!! You are a sweetheart caring for this little one!!! We love Forest, Woody, Willow or Hooper cuz he heard you playing bball?
your cage looks GREAT also to save space you can just use like a decent size( like a container thats just a bit bigger than ur hamster) for its litter box also you DEFINITELY want to add mor hiding spots having a huge space just where your hamster can feel exposed and scared so its good to add more objects in the cage thats safe for the hamster of course so the hamster can feel safe so he/or she wont be stressed remeber this a stressed hanster is NOT a good hamster dont worry im talking from experience also I recommen watching victorida rachel for more advice
When you upgrade the cage I would recommend getting a big aquarium cage like the other people do and I love your choices for the hamster and I just love how you care for animals so much
Hey, Nice Video! I Would recommend at least 120cm x 50cm as a cage, they need a house with 3 rooms (one is for bedding, one for food and one is for pee and poop), the wheel needs to be at least 25cm in diameter for that bread. They need hamster food everyday and 2 times a weeks some fresh food (not a lot). Hamster naturally live on the ground and they actually make pretty cool tunnels. I always had 30cm of bedding, I take normal bedding where the tunnels can hold up good). Also really important is a sandbath for their coat. I’m glad you wanna make changes and I hope he get everything he really needs
What is the height and length of the other bin you will be purchasing in the future and how many square inches is it? Cause I would like to know for future reference, Thank you!
hi, i know your new and doing research but it’s best if you pack down your bedding and then make sure there is at least 6 inches (minimum) and make sure there is plenty of hiding places so you hamster can feel safe! also when u move him into his permanent cage put some old bedding in their too so he isn’t as stressed out. other than that you are doing great😊
Add 6-10 inches of bedding. Remember to add a sand bath and get pure food because they need a good diet. Recommend aspen chips and herbs and sprays like millet sprays and sunburst herbs from Walmart and petco. Recommended a hide with a chamber so it can have a bigger hide. I don't recommend Timothy hay because it can hurt there mouth so get soft hays like orchard hay!
There are many big bins online but they might take very long to arrive so u can actually connect 2 bin cages it's not the best option but it is of course better than just having one bin you can increase the size of the wheel and there is actually no limit on the wheel size the bigger the better but maybe 10 inches is the largest for robos as they might not be able to push the wheel but do increase to maybe an 8 inch as yours is big enough but the hamster back is actually bending a bit so please upgrade your wheel and it's also best to add more bedding and when you upgrade again these are the things to take note of : 1. Please have a bigger wheel 2. If you can add more bedding 3. Have the place somehow semi crowded as hamsters are prey animals and your current cage is pretty empty and there is a big empty spot so u can add cork bark, bendable bridges 4. Robos (your hamster species) come from sandy areas so you should have a bigger sand bath peferably one third of your cage be sand 5.hay is great for hamsters to hold their burrows if u do end up increasing your bedding putting hay inbetween the layers is a good way for their burrows to get sturdier and make sure your hay is quite soft as sometimes hamsters get their eye poked as the hay is sharp and hard (i learnt all of this from victoria raechel so go check out her channel)
Just so you know always measure the bin from the bottom so you can get the actual floor space as most companies measure from the top and those aren’t the actual floor space!
If there are balls, they are a he. If there are no balls, they are a she. Definitely offer a real hide at some point as well. Lastly, DO NOT GET DUST! Make sure to get Chinchilla sand, small animal sand, children's play sand, aquarium sand, or reptile sand (no calcium) for the little furbaby. Good luck!
Hello! I love this so much! I honestly prefer kaytee fluff better because it’s fluffier and my hamster burrows better in it and also try dried mealworms! They love it
Could I maybe get pinned? ALSO U R AMAZING!!

Thank you!
where did you get the little tray from? i’m trying to find them
Dang you have done so much better with a hamster than a person who purposely got one. Good on you 👍👍😁
I would like a home like that! 🏡🐹❤️
You might need to put a little more bedding you want as much as possible the bare minimum for bedding is 6 inch but I recommend 10! No hate just giving a tip :) you might also want to put more hides and I recommend a bigger wheel Victoria Rachel is a great hamster care channel I like 👍
We were thinking Ranger for his name. Well done on your great new hamster home we love it.
Idk if people realize how great of a person you have to be to see a helpless animal that someone discarded. Take it home then spend into the hundreds of dollars just to give it a proper life. Without know its history at all
Hey what about the tadpole
Next video, stay tuned it's a great one!
@@planetfishness thank you for everything
I stumbled on the rescue vid and loved it, this is great!!! You are a sweetheart caring for this little one!!! We love Forest, Woody, Willow or Hooper cuz he heard you playing bball?
Great choices the hamster will be very happy
You are so talented!
Hey a good tip is to add the tunnels to the new cage so he's got something that he's always had and add more hides , but apart from that it's great
your cage looks GREAT also to save space you can just use like a decent size( like a container thats just a bit bigger than ur hamster) for its litter box also you DEFINITELY want to add mor hiding spots having a huge space just where your hamster can feel exposed and scared so its good to add more objects in the cage thats safe for the hamster of course so the hamster can feel safe so he/or she wont be stressed remeber this a stressed hanster is NOT a good hamster dont worry im talking from experience also I recommen watching victorida rachel for more advice
Hi, the wheel for a darwf snd 6.5 is soooo small, I recommend a 8-10 for a darwf hamster even it’s not permanent get a bigger one. Good cage tho!!
6.5in is ok for a Robo as they are the smallest species, but 8in is better
@@negan1445 yeah but still it can bend there backs
6.5 inches are good for robos, most robos fit in it.
@@dripdrop3136 but still bigger the better
@@CiaosRC yes
Please could you put a link to the previous video in the description?
When you upgrade the cage I would recommend getting a big aquarium cage like the other people do and I love your choices for the hamster and I just love how you care for animals so much
Hey! Carefresh doesn't hold borrows that well so I recommend adding some hay, orached grass hay is soft☺️
Question, what size wire did you get and from where?
Hey,
Nice Video!
You should name him Russell from UP....ya know, explorer scout lol
I just got my Betta yesterday is a 1.7 gallon tank good?
i would suggest upgrading to 4 gallons minimum
What is the height and length of the other bin you will be purchasing in the future and how many square inches is it? Cause I would like to know for future reference, Thank you!
Hi planet fishness can i ask a question about my betta
Yeeey finally the hammy updateeeee
Asking a question is the cage 450 sq inches
OMG he is so CUTE!!!!!!!!!! 😍😍
hi, i know your new and doing research but it’s best if you pack down your bedding and then make sure there is at least 6 inches (minimum) and make sure there is plenty of hiding places so you hamster can feel safe! also when u move him into his permanent cage put some old bedding in their too so he isn’t as stressed out. other than that you are doing great😊
Made me cry that he was left alone in the woods…. Hugging my bunny right now 😢❤️
Add 6-10 inches of bedding.
Can I have this as a permanent cage if I can’t get a bigger one? Cause I plan on doing the same thing you did!
The Ikea detolf is the bestttt I have it for my little hamster 🙃🌸
I have my fish in a emgcy bowl should I take it out it’s a and it’s drying
There are many big bins online but they might take very long to arrive so u can actually connect 2 bin cages it's not the best option but it is of course better than just having one bin you can increase the size of the wheel and there is actually no limit on the wheel size the bigger the better but maybe 10 inches is the largest for robos as they might not be able to push the wheel but do increase to maybe an 8 inch as yours is big enough but the hamster back is actually bending a bit so please upgrade your wheel and it's also best to add more bedding and when you upgrade again these are the things to take note of :
1. Please have a bigger wheel
2. If you can add more bedding
3. Have the place somehow semi crowded as hamsters are prey animals and your current cage is pretty empty and there is a big empty spot so u can add cork bark, bendable bridges
4. Robos (your hamster species) come from sandy areas so you should have a bigger sand bath peferably one third of your cage be sand
5.hay is great for hamsters to hold their burrows if u do end up increasing your bedding putting hay inbetween the layers is a good way for their burrows to get sturdier and make sure your hay is quite soft as sometimes hamsters get their eye poked as the hay is sharp and hard
(i learnt all of this from victoria raechel so go check out her channel)
this is my first time and I got a notification for u idk who u are but I will still whach ur vid and I may sub
Good luck!
I'm sure you already have a name by now but Oakley would be so cute!!
Hello! I love this so much! I honestly prefer kaytee fluff better because it’s fluffier and my hamster burrows better in it and also try dried mealworms! They love it
