Mew2King has nothing to be ashamed of; for not participating in Melee singles in 8 months, being able to keep up with the current talent is nothing short of impressive.
Exactly. Fiction was also on a tear this tournament as well. He even beat Plup who actually has been keeping up with Melee more.
So for M2K to lose after not playing for a year is not bad at all.
Old comment and set but historically Fiction has always given m2k problems the handful of times they've played in tournament. I believe Fiction is up 3-2 lifetime.
I'm hoping M2K continues playing Melee now. If he cleans up his edgeguards/neutral, I'm confident he can become top 5 again.
So the 2 biggest parts of smash? Yes if anybody gets good at that then they can be good.
odiepotes But epic Winning neutral leads to combos, ledgetrapping also exists along with spacing, mixups, etc. There's a lot more to Melee than just edgeguards and neutral lol.

Nice to see M2K back. It surprised me the fact that he managed to beat HBox and IBDW with this rusty game. It's so weird to see him dropping so many edge guards.
He messed up his Marth playing Lucina in Ult. That's why he's been doing so many side bs and counters.
In comparison, he didn't mess up his Fox, and still played Fox agaisnt Wizzy a couple times on stream.
That's why. His Fox is more practised and isn't messed up from playing another game with him the way his Marth is.
Rusty M2K is actually pretty good. Congrats for Top 8! Return of the King!
the "juice on the marth side B" thing scar was talking about is real. It's not just marth either. To get it back you have to land on stage out of a regular fall, like an empty hop, meaning no aerials (I don't remember the exact name of the state.) A quick way to get the charge back is to just do a wavedash
Thanks for explaining this. As a Marth player, at 6:26 I was like, "Yes, that's definitely real. Scar is not crazy." But I never knew why, and it was super frustrating.

The best way to take a game off of M2K is to praise him mid game and use the spawn invulnerability to get a 70% combo

almost no one is talking about how sick fiction was.
I love how M2K still smiles after his losses and doesn't look so mad/salty. Especially in his set against Zain. You love to see it. He did really good considering how rusty he is. Very impressive run. 👏😁

i think m2ks idea with marth fullhop fair for edgeguarding is so that u can react and fall down to cover side-b to ledge with fair, or cover high with fair, maybe just needs to get the timing right but its a sick idea

I'm not certain but I'm pretty sure, like Silent Wolf, Fiction was one of the few non-top 6 players with a positive record on m2k since they didn't play many times to my knowledge (Fiction won at SSS lockdown and DYFWI).

@@trashman1791 he has historically lost to Fiction on their few prior encounters in melee. M2K has done relatively poorly against a few top-20 level fox players before, as he's down 1-4 vs SilentWolf since 2014 and has lost to Fiction 3 times since then too, not sure how many sets he's won vs him
If M2K stops playing Lucina in Ult to mess up his Marth (that's why so many side bs and down bs), he would be almost as good as when he left.
Fiction also played very well, beating both M2K and Plup is no small feat, even with M2K being rusty. He also best Wizzy and IBDW. So he was just playing amazing.

I feel fiction distracted m2k in game 2 while he was dead and m2k was still vulnerable. Not saying it was malicious but it should never happen. 7:45.

ln a perfect competitor's world, you're right. But it was just a friendly acknowledgement of the kill. As you said, it wasn't malicious so it wasn't a big deal. M2k could of ignored it if he felt it would really distract him.
@@SamHuang69 I know exactly what you mean but fiction reached out with his hand to get into m2k's field of vision. My point is not that it was done intentionally but it was wrong. To me it could have been and probably was game changing.
@Marisa Nya Sadly, this is not friendlies. And since you mentioned mentality... that's my whole point m2k is up and gets distracted by his opponent invading his field of vision and takes 67% for it. He still has a smile when the combo begins. Go back and watch it fade.
