Manglorean Fish Curry | Kings Onion | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

MANGLOREAN FISH CURRY
Ingredients
2 medium pomfrets, cleaned and cut into darnes
1 cup Kings Cook Smart Onion
7-8 dried red chillies, stemmed
½ up scraped coconut
4-5 garlic cloves
½ tsp cumin seeds
2 tsps coriander seeds
15-20 black peppercorns
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 tbsps oil
2-3 curry leaf sprigs
Salt to taste
1 tbsp tamarind pulp
Coriander sprig for garnish
Method
1. Transfer Kings Cook Smart Onion in a blender jar. Add dried red chillies, coconut, garlic, cumin seeds, coriander seeds black peppercorns and mustard seeds.
2. Add 1 cup water and grind to fine paste.
3. Transfer the remaining Kings Cook Smart Onion in a bowl. Add ¼ cup hot water and set aside for 3-4 minutes.
4. Heat oil in earthenware pot. Add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds. Add the hydrated onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
5. Add the prepared paste, 2 cups water and mix well. Add salt and mix. Add fish pieces and mix gently.
6. Cover and cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes. Add tamarind pulp and mix well. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes more.
7. Transfer into a serving bowl. Garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot .

Such a great delicious recipe. Especially the coconut masala. I can feel the aroma of the curry. Yummmm. Just a question. Can this ground masala be frozen in the freezer for later use. And for how long. Reply will be much appreciated. Thank you🙂
You can't really, because of the onions that goes into the masala.(the taste won't be the same) Although I can't say for sure if it would be same in the case of dry onions that the chef has used in this particular recipe. Personally I would prefer to use fresh masala, but i would still use the masala which is ground and stored in the refrigerator on the previous day. Not any longer than that🙌🏼

Some people can not take raw garlic flavour .
Crush the garlic and keep it only 3 to four to reduce garlicky spice..

In mangalore style everything is get roasted first then it is grinded
It's advisable to first dry grind chillies, cumin and coriander seeds and then blend it with shredded coconut and garlic. The paste becomes homogeneous. If you use coconut oil it becomes authentic Manglorean! Normally Mangloreans prefer bangda or mackerel and other local varieties.
