The dish looks good. But the authentic curry does not have cloves,cinnamon & pepper.only red chilies,coriander seeds & coconut for grinding Also a medium size onion half for grinding & half for the burgar ( in coconut oil) Add Kokam or tamarind pulp.a dash of turmeric powder. This taste is great. Try it! Since my in-laws are from Goa,this is how we cook it at home.

And we use the brown part of the coconut which you peeled alongwith white one, as in our homes it is said that the brown part gives a different taste and thickness to the fish curry.

My favorite fish curry.We have a special knife called koduval Just one shot and the coconut is in two. We don't use fish head .It's the food of the cats and dogs .Nice to know that North Indians too relish our coconut Currys 🍛 😀 Good day enjoy fish curry and rice on thus rainy day.

Hi Chef, thank you for promoting goan curry. Chef Rego is from my village, I don't think he has given you proper recipe. NO goan adds cloves, black pepper, cinnamon and ginger to our fish curry. Also if we grind onion we don't add diced onions. Turmeric powder needs to be added.
We don't use garam masala...no cinnamon, cloves and ginger...very little black pepper...the test is fine. This is the authentic authentic gosn gish curry
Surmai ,White Pomfret ,Prawns etc have become unaffordable Paaji ! Please see if you can incorporate fresh fish like rohu katla for turning out Goan Maharashtrian or Malabari delicacies
Mr . Kunal, this is not our authentic Goan curry. The recipe doesn't call for cinnamon and cloves. And you don't directly add the onions to the curry you need to add salt to the onions and mix it well to get the moisture out of it (which gives the curry a slight twist) and then add it to the curry. You can also add curry leaves this is optional though. Anyways nice to see a Goan dish on your channel. Thank you! 💛
No ways we Konkani people use kashmiri mirch for fish. It is always bedgi mirch specifically used for fish any type fried or curry... kashmiri mirch ka koi swad nahi hota it gives only color so for fish Kashmiri murch is of no use
I request you to plz learn the receipy first before sharing on screen, this is Nt at all gain fish curry, u cannot add onion in gravy after its half cooked and elaichi and lovang who thought u this and trifal is a must ingredient for this curry
Nice recipe but one can use a hammer or thick knife/koyta for breaking the coconut but I was little scared that the roller pin might lose the smoothness which will effect the rolling of chapattis

Kunal, plz don't add cloves n cinnamon to fish curry as it will ruin d goan fish curry taste, especially pomfret fish is so delicate, some people in d north use dry mango instead of kokum. D Hindus mostly use d Aldona chillies n d Catholics use little of d aldona chillies and Kashmiri for dat bright color
It is better to dry grind chillies, coriander seeds and pepper and the powder can then be blended with coconut, onion, ginger and garlic to make a smooth paste. Cloves, cinnamon are not used in authentic recipe. Fresh coriander can be also added. Scraping the brown part of the coconut isn't advisable. It is nutritive and also adds to roughage that's required for the stomach and intestines.

We have a special knife to break the coconut..We make it with coconut milk, red chillies ginger garlic and tamarind. Fish is fried before adding to the gravy. Curry leaves green chilies with a sprinkle of coconut oil in the end with onions fried. This is also great like chicken masala

My mum also adds a little triphal to the fish curry for that added flavour. Other than that the recipe is perfect just the way we make it at home.
Triphala (temphla) is usually used for Mackeral and Sardine curry.

I’m a Goan and we do not add cinnamon or cloves in the fish curry except in the ambot teek ( sour and spicy ) curry.
We stir fry fish first & then add gravy to same pan .its very imp to cook this gravy on very low flame .is par oil ka tavang nahi aana chahiye .
