Hands down far superior to GM & Ford, I’ll take the Limited over the Tungsten, The reason is front metal bumper & front tow hooks! That’s a must on any truck even a luxury one.

When I got an email saying I could order my 2022 lightning. I did pricing on xlt vs lariat. I wanted the xlt extended range to save $. When you start checking boxes, you aren't saving that much.
I ended up with the lariat. I checked almost every box on the xlt, and it came out to 76k. But it didn't have a moon roof or blue cruise. Going to the lower end lariat was over 79k.
The extended battery was $10k for lariat and $20k for the xlt

I ordered a tungsten with everything on it except the block heater. I ordered the black my favorite color. The black looks the best with the grilles and fog lamp bezels. I had a 2021 limited longhorn black and brown with the brown inserts on the rims fully loaded for the exception of the heater block. And I loved all the features it had as a truck and luxury. Ram has had it on lock since 2019 not just because of interior but the amount of storage you have as a truck, family, luxury, and I’ll say it an undercover suv. It didn’t have the power as others. But now you can check every box off. Just doesn’t have the rumble of the v8. But I rather have a quiet vehicle and you can hear something is wrong instead of driving past the warranty and then coming out of your pocket

Hey Tim. Great video as usual. I’m curious about that passenger screen. I know it’s not car play or android auto, so when you say mirror how does it operate. Have you tried connecting to it? Sry if this sounds like a stupid question. I ask because Ram is on my short list for my next vehicle in a few years and that screen is interesting for my wife to use in trips. Also. How are the other seats on the higher trims levels? How was the difference between the limited seats and the tungsten seats? Anyway. Great video can’t wait to see your new truck when it comes in.

    • @Pickuptrucktalk
      @Pickuptrucktalk  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Passenger screen is a HDMI or USB. I thought it was a screen cast with mirroring. I just checked a few forums and they say no. I bet this could be added in the future.
I didn’t spend nearly enough time in the seats for a comfort check. The higher trims do have a higher quality of leather. Ram seats haven’t bothered me nearly as much as GM seats. I find them comfortable whenever I have had it for a press loan. I can’t wait to do a road trip and really see them in action.

I have the passenger screen on a Jeep. The best feature is the ability to use the navigation and swipe it across to the driver. Very useful on long trips with passengers. I also have a 22 Limited 10th anniverery with the sea salt interior. It gets dirty and it gets cleaned. The seats in the Tungsten are a huge improvement especially if you drive long distances (12 plus hours).. You can see them in a Grand Wagoneer. They are far superior to the Limited seats. I am waiting for my new Tungsten mainly because of the seats. Both back and bottom are massaging on the Tungsten instead of back only on lesser models.

My 2019 Limited RAM 1500 has many of those features, can use regular gas so the juice ain't quite worth the sqeeze yet. Also the leather dash is nice but when it is glued wrong it sucks they don't cover it under warranty, takes forever to replace and costs thousands. Look at my channel and I came up with a way to repair the lifting leather off the substrate on these dashboards that won't require replacement.

    $86K for a 1500 truck is insane.
    $90K for a 1500 truck is insane.
It isn't a truck anymore, it's a luxury car that is 4 wheel drive and just so happens to have a pickup bed. Just for clarification, my 2024 Ram 2500 Bighorn Crew Cab out the door was $55K. 6.4 v8 Hemi, 4x4, snow chief package, heated steering wheel, heated front bucket seats, USB chargers x 3, USB C chargers x 2, 110v outputs x 2, 8.4" touch screen, 6 speaker system, 8 speed automatic transmission, tow hooks, 2 different rear view cameras, telescoping heated folding tow mirrors, front aux lights, mirror mounted rear view lights, entrance lights, tailgate lighting, 6 auxiliary switches. I can go on and on, but you folks buying a 1500 for almost twice what a 2500 costs is crazy, because at the end of the day you wasted money on a 1500 that still can't tow shit, and can't haul hardly anything, especially with that short bed to make up for the Mega Cab, and now with a twin turbo straight 6.

@@Dusdaddy The biggest issue is when towing. you have to account for 10% tongue weight and also passengers and cargo also contribute to payload. For example towing an 8,000 pound trailer means 800 pounds of payload on the vehicle from tongue weight, add in a 250 pound driver and you're already maxed out for payload.

@@PlayWaves1 Duh, that's obvious. Once again, you buy the truck you need. I truly don't expect to see a Tungsten towing a 10K trailer. It still beats my GVWR by 400lbs and I have 2011 Laramie quad-cab. My towing maxes at 7K and that's plenty. Complaining about the utility aspect of these luxury rigs is just silly. If you are regularly towing over 8K, get a 2500! It's not rocket science.

@Pickuptrucktalk I live in north west alberta. We have extreme weather conditions and are far from services. Can't justify spending the kind of money they are asking for these trucks. Need the reliability for actual extreme conditions I don't think these 6 cylinder trucks will be very good here. Can't be broke down with my children in the mountains. Have a 2016Cummins turbo diesel to pull 5th wheel and use my 2022 to pull side by side. Sometimes have to pull in 4x4 thru mud or snow. Straight six with a turbo sounds like failure waiting to happen. Haven't seen a straight 6 in a truck since 95 ford and that truck was not for pulling. Very disappointed with ram at this point. I also do all my repairs and my trucks never see the dealership unless it's on recall.

There are a lot of Ram haters posting about quality. I have a 2019 Bighorn that I ordered well equipped in the fall of 2018, and the sticker was around $49k. It has been a great truck and now has over 81,000 miles. I will admit I had to have one exhaust manifold replaced. Other than that, I have loved the truck.
I have two good friends. One has bought new vehicles every three years, and always bought GM. He wouldn't even consider anything else. His last Silverado had the eight speed automatic transmission. He had problem after problem, and GM told him he would just have to drive the truck until the transmission actually failed. He now drives a Toyota Tacoma, and his wife drives a Honda Pilot. He said he will never go back.
Another good friend purchased a Ford F150 with the 5.0 V8. The engine suffered a catastrophic valve train engine failure at around 20k miles. His truck was down for months because they couldn't find a new engine to replace the bad one. He continues to have issues with the truck and recently had it at the dealer due to the screen going blank.
My point is all of the manufacturers have had their issues. IMHO, as the trucks become more complicated, they are having more and more recalls and breakdowns. The good news about all of the technology is we can now drive trucks with over 500 horsepower that get over 20 MPG on the highway.
As for me, the bottom line is all of the technology comes at a hefty price that I am unwilling to pay. By reading all of the comments, there are a lot of us in that category. Hopefully, the manufacturers will wise up and realize most of us truck people want a truck that works and is reliable, not a BMW or Cadillac truck.

And yeah they should offer the high output hurricane in the lower trims. Imagine how much more the tradesman and bighorn could tow with that motor. And how fast those lighter trucks would be. Ram is killing themselves.
