It was NEVER close, I’ve met Petey and he always said he loved it in Vancouver, that and the passion of the fans. In todays presser he reiterated that and said it’s because of the fans, a winning team and the city - the safety and security within that. Thank God I have 8 more years of Canuck games to go to. It’s feels like Christmas bay-bay!

If Canuck’s and Elias were agreed to have contract discussion after the season your argument falls. Elias is one of the keys why Canucks is a top team so dont throw him under the bus so easy.
The Canucks want this deal done now. They need to know what their cap room will be going into the deadline. Not sure what Petey's been waiting for. But he's obviously unsure what kind of team this is. He needs to play better to get our team out of this slump.

The team is struggling and I feel part of that struggle is that Petey is struggling again in another slump.
They HAVE to trade him recall the Luongo contract. So what we sign him and he draggs his ass going forwards like he does every year but now he's making 12 million a year and no one would take him from us with out us retaining salary..
If he produces…great! If not we are in massive cap hell

Petterson has become a pylon! Loses the battles on the boards, falls down constantly, loses possession of the puck, especially in OT causing short handed & odd man rushes, doesn't drive to the net except for his stupid wrap arounds. Look, he has a lot of points because of assissts but requires others to make plays only to pass to him for one timers. He isn't like a Nylander who drives to the net & Nylander is only getting $11.5M. I'd take Nylander any day over EP. I'd like to see Jack Hughes play with Quinn or Macklin Celebrini with Aiden Celebrini! I'd gladly let EP go if he thinks he is better than everyone. Look, Miller has more points that EP & he's around $8M. Imagine Miller plays like crap because hes jealous EP is making $12M. He isn't worth the cost! We still need to sign Joshua, Lindholm, Zedorov...etc. & perhaps dump Meyers to free cap space, but a $12M salary dump will end up a one man team without a cup to show for! -END OF RANT!!!
You are not wrong at this point. Petey was great last year. This year he’s had 2 slumps
I was at the canucks training camp this year and during the scrimmage I watched Peterson throw the puck in front of his net and give it up. He shook his head went to the bench were the offensive coach talked to him. Nothing has changed since then. Hes still tossing pucks out front of his own net instead of just clearing it. He is a 9m player at best. I feel he's over-rated.

He’s going to sign a deal that has a no movement contract. That’s my best guess
DId he help the Canucks from getting trounced by LA? Did the Sedins do anything in the finals against Boston? The Canucks have no dependable depth to draw from, and could have traded Pety for 3 very good players and draft picks from New York or Buffalo. Hockey is a team sport, and the Canucks don't have special teams to rely on.
It's interesting to think about what they could have gotten.

canucks traded trevor linden to long island for a no name bum called todd bertuzzi , so sometimes the better player in the deal works in reverse. We have had many superstars here naslund bertuzzi mogilny bure etc..i think petey is the least talented of those names but has a big head like he is better. (the kevin fiala syndrome) i dont care if he leaves or signs as long as the return is good.
I hear what you are saying but they are wanting to sign him long term so they believe in him and his potential. We will see how this saga ends.

The way he's playing right now he might not get to 90 points never mind a 100. Kypreos said in a tweet today that there's a deal in front of him right now between 90-96 and he was basically told either sign or be traded. Not sure how reliable that is but if it's true and he shows any trepidation in signing that I think you got to move him. Also what's this about him and JT not being close? Is it the fact that they're not buddy buddy or is there actual animosity between the two that could hurt the locker room. If so I'd rather have JT.
I saw that tweet as well...90 million, does that mean it's just shorter term? Part of me wants to keep Petey and another part wants us to trade him. It's a LOT of $$$ and term. I just hope he lives up to the contract.
Also I have no problem that Pettersson and JT aren't buddy buddy but I do hope they are good teammates. Maybe he can't handle someone else getting the lime light. Who knows though? Or maybe JT has been a jerk to Elias. We will probably not find out what's really going on.
