Deal is good. Hopefully Petey can find his groove again. In terms of him being our #1 center, though, he may be on the line, but i'd be slow to say if he's our "best" center. Petey's high end skills are best on the team hands down: slapshot, smart passes, hockey iq and dangles. But these days Miller seems to be the anchor of the entire team. Points and plus minus aside, he's the most reliably effective canuck in all areas of the ice. His positioning, vision, strength, durability, ability to drive the play, improvise, all top notch on this team, and his other skills are closer second at worst. As good as petey is, he's always felt like he needs talent around him to be effective. You could throw miller on the 4th line and he'd still probably put up 60 points
When the Sedins preach outplay your contract, well all of Miller, Hughes and Pettersson either already do that or look poised to do that. These guys aren't greedy pretenders. They want a cup. His full prime! He didn't have to sign for 8 years but he did. He's no bankrupt the team then go limp in the playoffs Matthews.
Full NMC kicks in year 2 for the rest of the duratio of the contract. RFA years (the first year of his contract) cannot be protected with NMC, so pretty much full NMC for all eligible years.
Petey puts his money where his mouth is. The man wanted to win. This team demonstrated they can compete and Petey took a hometown discount, believe it or not. 12.5 would have been fathomable.
@chrisv384 it's hilarious how leafblowers except mediocre play for that amount of money just bcoz they get more points than the junior players on the same roster.
Complete disaster, over paid by at least 3.5 million. Now they can get back to losing. Really sad day for me, i was hoping for a Stanley Cup, but i guess that was never in the cards. Clearly they are going down the Toronto road to playoff failure. This is so bad that the playoffs in the years to come are probably not even doable, even with great players like Milsy and Garly. Oh well i can still cheer for my second and third choices Edmonton and Winnipeg. Management showed great promise in the last year and dropped the ball hard with Lindy and now Petey. The franchise is destroyed with this latest move. The good news is Petey may actually start to play for the rest of the year and we may get a one year wonder like the Bubble and have something to cheer about. The problem with that scenario is they are on a bad losing streak with no sign of good news in sight. If Petey can start to play up to his capabilities then we may get to see some playoff hockey this year, but that is good as it gets for the foreseeable future. They still have to make 10-12 points to make the playoffs this year and after watching the Kraken and the Kings game, that may even be a pipe dream.
Great deal. Allvin and JR masterclass.
Another W for Patrick and Jim
It’s so much better when we have competent management that push the pace and get contracts signed instead of ones that “ran out of time.”
on Cap friendly it doesn't say if there is any ntc's of any sort, but maybe the details haven't been posted
Great deal, Leafs need to take note
Like it👍 Hope it allows Petey to loosen up and focus and get back to top form.

What happened to Parker? He doesn't post after games anymore. We just won round 1!

EP's contract will age well..my gut is Nylander's won't
Nylanders will too, his father was great til mid 30ies and he is better then him (in some ways)
@@chrisv384 it's just my gut instinct

Lol
Petey if over a PPG in his career. This is not in any way an overpay
Wow man, you really got strong and bad opinions
Troll
It's hilarious to have such opinions that are so astronomically bad yet held so tightly 😂
