I totally agree with everything you said and I totally get it and especially about finding a good teacher, for me I have had the misfortune of not being able to afford to have a teacher my whole life so I have been trying to go it a lone trying to learn bits and pieces off of the internet and you are right it truly is overwhelming but I will keep on trying even if I only get good enough to please my self. I want to thank you for the eBook I am sure it will help me greatly, thank you. Oh ya I will be 71 years old this month and haven't given up yet Lol.
@tuna22lm, you are welcome and glad you liked the video! And great that you have never given up, that's the most important part of all :) Let me know how you get on with the eBook.
The other think I am working on .. is. .. learning intervals of the note structures ... I am needing the slower and get it in my mind better.. I play other things and find and make melodies .. but primarily from ear ... I think I can learn to know what I am doing .. so I can keep learning to do what I might know. :-). thanks for the tips.. only 7 hours ago.. pat
@davidpatrick1813, you are welcome and glad you liked the video :) Yes, intervals are great to know and very helpful. The more you can understand what you are doing, the more you will be able to do, so keep going! :)
I agree on all your points! By now, I follow them, too, but should have started much earlier. Yes, find a GOOD teacher. It’s so useful. But beware, not all teachers are good. I’ve had good ones, but alas, also not so good ones. As a beginner, one may not realize that quickly, and that has, in those instances, set back my motivation and lead to more confusion than progress.
@hardyshmardy, yes, not all guitar teachers are equal, that's for sure. Just because someone can play really well does not necessarily make them a great teacher. Teaching is an art in itself and takes much dedication and experience to do well. It is a very deep topic that I work on separately from my own playing, daily. Glad you liked the video :)
Wonderful refreshing video . ❤ love it ‘🎸 I love playing guitar have been playing off and on for decades. I am now diving into the fretboard and learning the notes and what you’re teaching now .❤ thanks
The great teacher was a good comment but finding one can take a lifetime as i find they wish to teach you but with the songs they prefer and to me the easiest way to learn anything is by learning a tune you already know and are very familiar with
@jimcrossland3575, yes it can take time to find a great teacher, but by no means a lifetime :) I am almost 50 and have found several great teachers over my time. And now with the internet, while it can be overwhelming with all the information, there are even more possibilities at finding a great teacher for what you want to learn.
@johnholladay4187, it is Guild S4CE Songbird.A really nice compact guitar I bought off a student of mine about 20 years ago for a price I could not refuse :)

On Facebook you said one needed to learn the "fundamentals" of guitar. Does this video outline what you mean?
@dimwitsadvocate6264, in part, yes. It doesn't cover all the things I'd consider fundamentals, but certainly some of them.
What model Guild are you playing in this video?
