Cap, around 40 minutes in when you said someone's winning, its us the viewers who are winning. Thank you and all the other grim reapers who were involved in this video!❤
Thank you Cap, Fly (zee German), GR, and Pony! I'm not very good with the mission designer at the moment, but I'm thinking about taking an existing mission from someone who has successfully designed a great mission (per the workshop), and I can use that to accelerate my mission editor capabilities. I'd like to setup my own unique scenario at a specific location and backstory. If it ends up working out, perhaps you can give it a try.
Your foxbats that won't dogfight at 37:xx are not armed. Not even a gun. They are bombers with a recon loadout. When you launched them at 15:xx, you selected the wrong MiG 25s (RBs). those were also the ones you sent after the AWACs that wouldn't attack.
You're still getting bitten by the bug where when you select a flight of fighters in the formation manager, it's picking the second or third plane in the flight, which causes some of the problems people have with aircraft flights. Make sure to check which unit is selected in the lower left - middle mouse click will select the first unit in a formation.
The Soviets had active Sonobouys as early as the late 1970s. I am not sure why they aren't in the game, but if I had to guess, the developer is using the same code on the back end for both the Soviet and Nato sonobuoys to save coding effort. It also looks like the developers have modeled knuckles for the subs moving at max speed and making big turns. Knuckles create a large disturbance in the water that causes sonar pulses to reflect in weird directions. To put it in terms of aircraft. A knuckle creates F-117-like angles that deflect sonar returns away from the source, confusing torpedoes and causing them to lose track of the target. Combine that with noisemakers and a submarine can create an environment where a torpedo will have a near impossible task of figuring out what is a real target and what isn't a real target.
Really enjoyed this one. First mission (that I can recall, in any event) where it was more like being an Admiral than a task force lead. The potential complexity was awesome (and sorry it didn't go to plan, Fly). [I had initially given Cap's PC a 3% probability of survival 😛] For some reason, things "not working" doesn't bother me at all. Click=dead would be more than a bit boring. Terrific concept Fly! Well done!
ooh, this is a long one. i'll have to save it and watch at work tomorrow, lol Fly: Danke fur diesen....Spiele? Es tut mir leid, dass mein Duetsch ist schlect 😅
Hi cap me again. The RN use fibreglass hulls for their minesweeper, they would hook onto cables and send an explosive charge down the tow cable and set it off beside the mine destroying it in the process
1:00:07 - That's not a Skipjack! Possibly a Permit (594) or (more likely) a Sturgeon (637). Didn't get a good look at it. Might be an early example of the class.
Cap, the issue you experienced at around 13:00 is is because for some reason Sea Power selects a member of the formation at random if you double click on the formation from the unit list. To get around this open the formation then double click the formation leader instead. It's a pain, and one more thing to micromanage, but that's the joy of early access I guess
I love these weekly missions and the dynamic of the mission maker, Cap, and expert. But Fly gave you so many ships, SAMs, an aircraft carrier, a huge airbase about 2-3x the assets of a regular in-game airbase, and a smaller helicarrier. It's not the actual Soviet Union where you can't afford the jet fuel! With that amount of assets, I would have started slinging a variety of aircraft all around so they were up and ready to respond to any possible threat. They all generally have enough fuel to last the entire mission in slow loitering mode; worst case, they return to base and can get back up, etc. Just my thoughts as the initial air-to-air fight begins with that first F-14. I have a feeling there's quite a large enemy group out there, but we shall see! :)
Back in my day during Earnest Will, the Saudis ran an E3 over the northern gulf while the Chair Force ran one over the south. They used TADIL to share radar data with the Navy on the surface, as well as ground-based at Panther in Dhahran iirc.
Change the MiG-25P air search radars ON, not EMCON, and weapons free then EMCON after it's downed. That way they will aggressively attack a jet until it's downed, rather then shooting one missile & cruising in the vicinity aimlessly as a sitting target. Unfortunately, Sea Power is having issues sometimes where Weapons Tight aircraft don't fire/chase aircraft after it's been shot at. 37:06 & 42:13 & 44:10 & 1:08:02 He is out of missiles and should be sent back to re-arm, can't shoot if you got no armament! 😋 30:11 2x Russian Space Shuttle Launches. 🤣
If you issue commands after weapons free, they go back to weapons tight. So if you give it a waypoint, then select weapons free, it'll go do its own thing. If you set weapons free then issue a waypoint or attack order, it'll go weapons tight.
Really cool scenario to watch. But why did you place the Soviet land assets on the Kara peninsula north of Archangels instead of where their bases were on the Kola?
Cap, may I suggest you focus a little more time launching your shore-based AEW/ASW assets in the initial stages. Your Il-38 fleet sat mostly unused, and your AEWs could have been pushed farther out earlier. Nice work though.

My main problem with the game is the Russian bias. If they were as all powerful as the game suggests, they would have steamrolled nato. But their navy was far more fearful of us, than we them. I like fly, but as a naval strike commander, he needs to study tactics. His target assignment, strike package composition, weapons load out, fleet arrangements, etc., are all ...well...lacking. an ensign or cook from the Swiss navy, a landlocked country, could do better.

It would be interesting to see what a war between to landlocked countries. Like mexico vs USA do you think that non military factors like cartels would join in. Or a simulation of what the USA vs Canada that be interesting ey😂

Why do you have the people with the worst English and inability to keep it brief on these? Painful is listening to broken English for 4 minutes when they could have said it in 1 sentence. AAAaaaand your constant German is boring and annoying.
Would it be possible to include a link of the mission / steam workshop so the viewers can play them as well?

Aw, see, I was betting Fly slept in again lol
Enjoyed this saga very much, thanks Cap, Fly and Pony!
Enjoy these but fly needs to stay quiet and let you make mistakes, he helps too early. Ie if you don't get an awax up that's a you issue.
When has Fly ever been able to keep his mouth shut? The dude literally talks over the ASW expert in previous videos.
Kinda agree, but also can't take things too seriously either. *shrug* Fly be fly and that's just fine!
I rarely watch GW vids with Fly. I'll see how far I get through this.

I bet it's a Spurgeon. 🇺🇸 SSN before the 688. It's a great boat, 4 tubes.
I much prefer DCS vids. These are really long and complicated

you can also middle click, which will take you to the leader of any formation the unit you're viewing is in.
These take sooo long. I miss DCS
Heard Fly yammering and only lasted 10 minutes
Watched the whole video but Fly does need to learn how to halts mal.
I noticed the planes kept going weapons tight when you were initially engaging
The torps are broken. Enjoyed this Capt and crew.
not sure Sea Power is up to complex Red storm rising scenarios yet.
more to the point to any sub action.
The us uses minesweeping helos now. In future it may be underwater drones.
Love your work guys been watchjng you for a couple of years now. I had a suggestion. Bangladesh navy vs myanmar navy on dcs. Hope you guys see this.
Thank you!
Love the live missions pls more. Great vid!
Yes 👍😊😊😊
The Corvette you noticed destroyed at 58.00 was hit by AGM-88 HARMS from the SEAD Jets.....FYI Cap :) saw it on the event log
I think it’s Shrike, not HARM, in core game
@@TheNotoriousENG Your right...AGM 45 LOL Was thinking DCS for a minute there
39:00 Cap the reason he can fire without the radar is because the Gecko is a beam-riding SAM, like SA-15 Tor, Pantsir and 2s6 Tunguska can be

They weren't Winchester. They were recon bombers.
A strange concept, but interesting nonetheless.
Cap leaving his planes weapons tight and then wondering why they won't fire makes me scream at the screen.
They get switched back to it constantly even when he regularly changes it’s a game failure

The sheer number of bot comments is genuinely disturbing.
And they are all top comments with real names and good grammar 😮
I fear we're not far away from the Dead Internet theory being reality...
Or rather bots outnumbering the living.
I don’t see a single one and the lack of mistakes in grammar could be due to autocorrect… but i could be mistaken.
@ Look at the lowest liked comments, the ones that don’t make any sense in context and have scantily clad women as the PFPs. Those are bots.
