    This video along with the "how you started your business" video, are two of the most sincere honest videos I've seen. You literally speak from a true reality point of view, not some gimmick, you tell it how it is. It's great motivation for those of us who want to set foot in the wrap industry but are hesitant, or just start a business of their own in the automotive industry in general. Really appreciate these videos.

    Hi I'm from AZ I recently started learning how to wrap, it's been maybe 5 months, I've wrapped mostly hoods and roofs for business and looking to get into full wrapping now. I signed up for CWI and I've studied so much just from your videos. I have a notebook full of notes where you taught, cutting techniques, inlays, overlays, camo and chrome wrapping and I'm still learning so many things you are an amazing teacher! 🙏 wish me luck brothers let's hope this business takes off!

    Long but excellent video. It is worth watching from beginning to end. Sometimes you repeat yourself, but that is only because it is WORTH REPEATING. If someone who is looking to get into this biz and don't have the patience to watch this video all the way through, then they don't have the patience to wrap cars.

    I am one of the higher priced shops in my market. There are a lot of on-the-side guys and half my price guys that do questionable work. I get a lot of wide eyes when people feel me out and I'm never offended when someone takes their business down the road to the next guy. I get it, it's a lot of money. I always try to help them understand why I price the way I price and emphasize the level of care... both during the wrap and the year to follow. (Nothing goes perfect 100% of the time, that's reality). After 3 years on my own I still question what I am doing every time I quote a wrap. Maybe I'm charging too much? Can I shave a little off the top to get a job in the door? But then I run through everything in my head, piece by piece, panel by panel, and if I were doing it cheaper I would be cheating myself. It's a lot of work and a lot of time to do a wrap properly, and if you have the level of skill to do things correctly your time is worth all of the considerations laid out in this video. Don't sell your self short and don't confuse the consumer market with low ball prices. Your time and talent are the value in a wrap.

    • @ShaunsJeep
      @ShaunsJeep 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So basically I see what you are driving I am going to raise the price even if the lines are easier to wrap. Gotcha!

    • @CKWraps
      @CKWraps  5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      This is a world where you get what you pay for and sometimes also don't get what you pay for. Unfortunately that can never be stopped but people can do their research and ultimately it's up to the consumer on what type of work they want to spend their money on. I've given many quotes, and most people either don't reply or say it's out of their budget. This doesn't mean you lower your price. The quality of work and service you give is (if it's great) will allow you to come in at the higher or highest end of market value.

    • @CKWraps
      @CKWraps  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on the tiers of the vehicles cost. You could probably break down the tiers into 5 or 6 sections

    • @phxl
      @phxl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@ShaunsJeep I wrap every car as though it is going to be considered for best of show. Every shitbox and every vehicle that comes straight off the lot, I aim to outdo myself. The lines are a major factor in pricing, yes, but the minute somebody trusts you with a Performante you find a new level of care. You work just a little bit slower, you make every edge and every tuck just a little cleaner, you take more care when removing parts, you make no compromises. Their is a factor beyond the lines alone that comes into play.

    • @Nicetints
      @Nicetints 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ShaunsJeep it's a risk reward thing, anytime you take responsibility of a $700,000 car you are taking the risk of a very expensive repair if something gets damaged. No matter the experience or how carefully you install a wrap. Its cost $3,000 to do a oil change on these cars! The people that own them care about them and are willing to pay for quality. I wouldn't wrap a Lamborghini for less than $10,000 that's starting price and goes up from there depending on color and type of vinyl. High end vehicles pay more, it doesn't matter if they are getting an oil change or a brake job. The people that own these cars typically understand and although $10,000 is a lot of money to most people someone driving a million dollar car looks at $10,000 as $100 its actually not that much money to some people. It's hard to understand unless your in that club. I think Christian need to raise his prices by at least 25% to 50%. People will pay for quality

    What is the make of the ir heater in the back by the Concept poster? Also I'm glad someone else agrees with me on replacing parts when accidentally broken, most people I have worked with will just tape it up and move on, skip clips etc. I have a sprinter van in my shop right now for a removal and the previous person who wrapped it pulled the rear plastic fender, well I had to lift these off to get the wrap out and now have 6 or so clips to replace. Being the weekend I can't replace those right now, but I have already messaged the client and told them it would be later into monday for return, due to clips needing to be replaced. People like honesty and knowing that you will tell them, they don't like finding issues after the fact, and then wondering what else could be wrong that they haven't found yet. Good rule of thumb and clients might not like hearing it at first but they like the honesty. Better to admit fault in the beginning than find excuses when they call back. thumbs up! :)

    Hi there buddy. I am very sorry I couldn't watch your entire video. Need to wake up in a few hours to go to work but what you are saying is what I was telling my managers today. I am portuguese and living and working in England. I work at a carpet company that I didnt know but has a bad reputation in the UK. I was argueing with them cuz they just want to make profit no matter how even if it means to lie and be disonest. For them profit comes before good or bad reputation. They just told me:" it's business". I said:" A happy customer will return while a unhappy or a lied to customer will not. He will spread the bad word". Again their reply was that its part of the business.
    They say I cannot be too good to customers cuz if yes, we will be put off work. Massive lol.
    I love to see your sense of honesty. Well...you are Canadian. All explained. You worry for you companies name and reputation. You love, repect and treat your customers as they deserve.
    I will not do to a customer what I don't want nobody to do to me. Thats what they dont understand and dont give a dam.
    An apart... My dream since I was 14 is to live in Canada. Im 37 yo now. I am getting into car detaling and that is how I found you as I follow Larry from AMMO NYC. I saw his R8 wrap. Amazing
    Take care brother!

  • @flatlandAutoSales

    As someone who is just getting started. I've been quoting people around $2500, they just balk like it's too much. In reality the market is what the market is. You don't get anywhere coming in low, and like you said, if I break something on a car I have to be able to fix it. I broke a hatch panel on my wifes AMG pulling it off, that was $109 mistake. If I was making $50 on the total job I'd lose money fixing. Right now it takes me about 5 days to wrap anything, I'm super picky and meticulous, no one is a harsher critic than myself. I've seen what other places put out for "pro work" and I'll say I'm on par with them, but it takes time and labor to do it right. Thanks for the video

      I don't think that'll ever be a thing - different quality has different prices, someone who puts more effort in and works precise should obviously get paid better, otherwise if everyone were paid the same everyone would just go to those with better work... And then they'd have to hire a lot of people to help with the higher demand - if you just priced yourself higher less people would come to you, only those who are willing to pay more money for better work

    Hey you should make a video on what supplies a newbie would need to get into wrapping. First, some cheaper vinyl just to get hands on experience? What brand? It'll be great if you could make a video exclusively for beginners. Say if you just get a lower end sedan like a toyota or honda and start from the very beginning. Which panels to take off, tips tricks and all that good stuff. I'm looking forward to start wrapping and keep learning from you. Thanks

      Another question. Do you or your workers usually take off the parts whether it's a higher end vehicle or not, or do you guys usually bring someone or have someone who only dismantles the parts?

    • @CKWraps
      @CKWraps  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally I remove the parts myself. On the odd occasion when I'm pressed for time I'll have someone come in and do it. I also have a video on the tools I use to wrap

    How can you charge more to cover a car in vinyl than a bodyshop would charge to respray the car in paint?

    • @CKWraps
      @CKWraps  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can paint your car for $500 if you want. That's less than what the actual vinyl costs to wrap a car. But good body shops (professionals) will charge $10,000+ for a good paint job

      @@CKWraps I'll get back to you on that one

    • @attwarren
      @attwarren 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A quality body shop is going to charge twice what it costs to do these wraps. Ive worked in both a lower end and higher end shop and even in the lower end you are looking at 600 minimum per panel. That's not even top quality paint either, you want high end clear and thorough disassembly them go ahead and double that. Craftsmanship is expensive.

      I wouldn't put my car anywhere near a body shop that charges less for a respray than a wrap.

      Yes it can be very stressful. Sometimes I have to ask myself why did I start doing this lol. Then I remind myself that it's because I love the challenge and seeing the end result.

    Why would there be a difference between a Hyundai v BMW ? Im a panel beater and see no difference ??

    • @CKWraps
      @CKWraps  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My Hyundai brand new is around $40,000 and comes apart very easily. I can have the entire vehicle dismantled in 1 hour by myself. The BMW run $65,000 or so, the vehicle is premium compared to Hyundai. Parts cost more, you need special tools in order to take some things off and it takes longer to dismantle.

    how much does it usually cost to pay someone to take the car apart?

    • @nathandevries8297
      @nathandevries8297 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      thesoldier can be upwards on 500-1000 to remove door handles. I have heard of some Supercars getting their warranty voided if anything isn’t removed by a authorised tech at like the dealership. Someone told me 1500$ to remove handles on a mclaren or something crazy like that.

    • @CKWraps
      @CKWraps  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We usually pay around $200-300 for bumpers, mirrors and handles together

    You give an honest quote to someone then they say they found the vinyl on ali express for 140.00 for the whole roll and their boy will wrap it for 200.00 at his dads house. 😂
    That's one reason I got out of color changes. I love commerical wraps. Bring me your shit box ford e250 van and be amazed when you pick it up.

      Tracy Thompson this vid can be applied to commercial too, I'm sure you don't charge the same for a Sprinter, Ecoline, boxtruck etc. (Each vehicle (type) is different) I hope you don't.
