Wild river trout hanging out / spawning?

I gazed in the haze at the trout lazily wending their way through the weeds.
Unfortunately the phone was not behaving well against the challenges of aquatic reflections.
It would've been nice to have a real camera with me, with optical zoom & a circular polarizer, but such is life. Inevitably if you bring it, they will not come.
Despite their impressive colour matching with the rocks, they were easy to see in person, not so much through a screen.
I wonder if this was a trout looking to spawn, with males hanging around.

I was quite surprised just how much bigger the trout looked when it popped it's head out, even compared to immediately before it broke the surface. Maybe related to the angle I was viewing from?
