Those were the times... A 6.2L in a C-class; a V10 in an M5 redlining at 8250 rpm! And normal 2.0L 4-cilinder blocks in normal cars, without turbo's. Again, I miss those times. They're gone forever.

I remember being in the passenger seat in one of these years ago and it was shockingly fast, it’s still one of the fastest cars I’ve been in. I’ll always have a soft spot for these generation RS6’s.

@@Lukerr239 well they're more reliable than an E60 M5 and unless you've chosen one that has been raped to 1000hp it won't cause massive issues. But oh boy a service checkup on this will leave you poor ( a brake change costs between 3-5k euros).

As a previous owner... and an RS worshipper, I can confirm, it's a yes!!!!! Sadly, not many in Oz at all, even less so the Avant I bloody loved mine as it had the ECU upgrade, now it's back on my wish list.
The c6 is a weapon of mass destruction. It’s turbos are perfectly matched for the engine meaning the torque distribution is wicked, not to mention that unlike the old c5, the gearbox is bulletproof. Having been in both a c5 and c6 it’s evident that they come from the same lineage because a lot of the interior design characteristics are carried over but in terms of performance the c6 is fucking scary. I can remember we were going down the A5 and my dad decided to squeeze the throttle, next thing you know we were doing 100 mph. The scariest part is it isn’t brutal when accelerating so you can’t feel it reaching such high speeds and yet it definitely is. When switching between drive and sport you can both feel and hear the difference, it becomes a whole new kettle of fish. It’s mental, it’s a car with a twin turbo v10 and yet you can have a dog in the boot and three kids in the back. I bloody love this RS6

For me those are very bland. Bland things are aging better, so it is easy to do something bland that will not change to worse - because it was bland then and it is bland now - no emotions and changes for worse. But also nothing is truly inspiring or thought provoking. You look at it and just say ,,OK", because it is calculated to be just ,,OK", like lukewarm water A real challenge is to make something characteristic yet aging in a good way - like Alfa Romeo 159. When I look at Audi, I always feel like they have not even tried, everything is so conservative and cautious. ,,Better not try anything new or creative because it may age bad". For me it is not an impressive philosophy.
Tomasz Kolowca Walter da Silva designed this Audi. VAG recruited him from Alfa Romeo (1986-1999). The man is a legend. The exterior design forms of many Alfa Romeo models are great. Unfortunately inside they are often unpractical and use cheaper materials. Personally I love Audi´s design, it is understated, eloquent, simple and beautiful just like Scandinavian home design. Unlike in 2002 when da Silva joined Audi, they are selling well to large target groups so clearly the buyers agree. For a new designer with brave new ideas it would be a difficult to start working for Audi now.
Early 2000’s Alfa’s just have something else with those interiors though... I’m pretty sure to match this RS6’s gen you’d have to go with the.... 159? They amaze me to this day that a company strapped for cash could do something like that
some years ago , an old Alfa V6 was my daily and I kept a permanent smile while listening to that sound. How nice would it be to hear that V10 every day? No one needs a Tracktool , it's just for fun and faster then the most of us can handle !
Drive one of these RS6 V10’s everyday. Love it to bits, Very reliable so far. Although I’m at a point of being banned for speeding because of it. Oops!
De Billington , On board computer says 550 / 580 KM per fill up with 65 litres of fuel. Early morning traffic and a little highway driving I just get 380 - 400km each tank realisticly. If I’m doing short town journeys I’ll get 330 - 350 if I’m lucky.

This is what these cars were all about: a practical, high-quality sleeper with a Lambo engine under the bonnet. With a remap this would be a beast. I wish they were as understated now as they were back then.
Just sold mine and already regret it badly. The ultimate supercar to me. Does everything well not just one thing brilliantly... and the speed.. nothing should be able to travel across country that fast being that big and heavy

GTI Gaming Diesel is for trucks, buses and economy mom mobiles. The words ‘performance’ and ‘diesel’ don’t belong in the same sentence. The Diesel engine is by inherent design - not cool. They don’t rev quickly or high enough, they sound like a shit, and also basically have to be turbocharged to be useable. There’s a reason you don’t see diesel supercars. The Diesel engine doesn’t fit any of criteria for a cool car.
I had one; miss it every day. Interesting thing was how you had to hold down the ESP button for about 7 seconds to switch it off, otherwise you would only switch off the ASR by just pressing it
I sat in a brand new one of these at the Autostadt in Wolfsburg when they first came out. It was the first VW group vehicle I'd seen with the colour screen in the centre of the instrument cluster and it had a nice RS6 logo on it. Common now, but wasn't back then. Always a fan of that V10 :)
Back in 2007 I looked hard at RS6, ended up buying a 2.7TDI A6 Quattro AND a Cayman S ... for less money in total. The A6 did 110k miles in 7 years, should never have sold it - brilliant grip in snow, superb mile muncher economical. Still have the Cayman which has done 45k. At today’s prices you can do the same today.
@@randomhero4152 I was 2 Calls away from buying one and i went for a RS5 instead, both were priced the same. I thank god that i did not buy a RS6 C6, because my Buddy is doing software mapping for Audis (General, no matter if A/S/RS). He had a customer with a RS6 V10 like 2 years after i got the RS5 instead of the RS6 which had 70.000km. He literally had to maintain the car for his customer even hes usually only doing mappings because it was so insanely expensive at audi and no other workshop had enough knowledge to work on it. It would all result in trial and error. When the the first turbo went he had to pull out the whole engine. He quoted the customer 3700€ for the work and 1400€ for the turbo and he did it in a shed. The Catalytic converters also failed after some months, again had to pull the engine out. The Cats were 4000€ and 3000€ for the work since he had more experience with the car. The customer sold the car when the ceramic brakes went to shit after doing literally 3 laps on the nordschleife, it cost 15900€ for replacement. The owner literally had a 458 Italia and a 2017 E63 Wagon and a aston Martin Vantage. He said none of his cars cost him as much as the RS6 in repairs and maintenance. Working on a NA Audi V8 is horrible enough, if you make a V10 out of it crammed into a small engine compartment and slap two turbos on top its a complete nightmare.
Its so good looking, I just prefere sedan version of any car but this is just so good, I guess that was the golden time of bmw merc audi because everyone was so diffrent to drive difrent feel now everything is the same
The C6 Rs6 is a really special car to me, I first sat in one on the Audi stand in worthersee/Austria before they were even on sale and said to myself one day I need to have one! 4 years later I picked up my C6 Rs6 avant from the Lamborghini dealership in Reading who’d taken it as a part ex. Sitting between an orange aventador and a lime green gallardo it was almost invisible on the forecourt, I said to the salesman I’m not interested in those two I’m here for the estate car!😁 4.2sec 0-60 is a bonus. Their real party piece is their mid range/top end pull! Mrc tuned cars are ludicrously fast. As far as handling is concerned I’ve fitted 285/35/21 Michelin pilot super sports and the kw adjustable spring kit which retains the drc functionality (comfort does what it says very soft when you need it/ dynamic is the one I use 90% of the time, sport is only good for the smoothest of roads or a racetrack should any Rs6 owner actually do that!🤷🏻♂️) medium to fast corners it’s truly planted, tighter or slower speed cornering you can’t hide the mass of the car but it’s not a light super car it’s a heavy 2 tonne estate so not sure why people expect any different really! The v10 sound to me is much more exotic than the v8 in the c7/c8, it is an awesome/brutal sound and I’d be lying if I said I’ve not been tempted to move to the c7, but in reality I reckon all the banging, crackling and pops would become a bit too much! I’ve got an evo ix mr fq360 too so handling/pops/bangs are already covered!😜
The engine in this is the same V10 FSI that was used in the S6 and S8 from the same generation and later ended up in the facelifted Gallardo and the R8. It just has some slight modifications to make it better suited for turbocharging. Its slightly de-stroked to 5.0 liters instead of 5.2 liters and has a slightly lower compression ratio of 10.5:1 instead of 12.5:1. But it very prominently features twin VTG turbochargers, has forged pistons, forged connecting rods and a stronger crankshaft. These modifications make the engine incredibly stout, the stock internals are good for up to 800-900 hp.
Those engines are far from the same. Just because they share the same number of cylinders doesn't mean they are identical. And the 5.2 isn't a "lambo" engine, it's a Audi engine that was used by lamborghini. Might as well say vw uses škoda engines in their cars.
Rufusi0301 Nope, exactly like I said. It’s all slightly different versions of the same design, except for the old 5.0 Lamborghini V10 which this is not. This car has, like I said, a destroked and slightly changed version of the Audi 5.2 FSI V10 but turbocharged. Source: My father is one of the engineers who was on the r&d team at Audi that constructed it.

The 5.2 FSI engine (which is the same as the 5.0 turbocharged FSI in the RS6) replaces the old 5.0 Lamborghini-made V10. Those engines aren’t comparable, but the engine in this car isn’t the Lamborghini engine like you were thinking.

I had one of these with 700hp. It was one of the best car I ever had. Better than the C7 imo ! I haven’t tested the new one though ! I can’t wait !

Drive one of these RS6 V10’s everyday. Love it to bits, Very reliable so far. Although I’m at a point of being banned for speeding because of it. Oops!

De Billington , On board computer says 550 / 580 KM per fill up with 65 litres of fuel. Early morning traffic and a little highway driving I just get 380 - 400km each tank realisticly. If I’m doing short town journeys I’ll get 330 - 350 if I’m lucky.

This is what these cars were all about: a practical, high-quality sleeper with a Lambo engine under the bonnet. With a remap this would be a beast. I wish they were as understated now as they were back then.
Just sold mine and already regret it badly. The ultimate supercar to me. Does everything well not just one thing brilliantly... and the speed.. nothing should be able to travel across country that fast being that big and heavy

GTI Gaming Diesel is for trucks, buses and economy mom mobiles. The words ‘performance’ and ‘diesel’ don’t belong in the same sentence. The Diesel engine is by inherent design - not cool. They don’t rev quickly or high enough, they sound like a shit, and also basically have to be turbocharged to be useable. There’s a reason you don’t see diesel supercars. The Diesel engine doesn’t fit any of criteria for a cool car.

I had one; miss it every day. Interesting thing was how you had to hold down the ESP button for about 7 seconds to switch it off, otherwise you would only switch off the ASR by just pressing it
What I like about the c5 and c6 rs6 is that they are subtle but good looking in contrast to the c7 and c8 which scream for attention

I sat in a brand new one of these at the Autostadt in Wolfsburg when they first came out. It was the first VW group vehicle I'd seen with the colour screen in the centre of the instrument cluster and it had a nice RS6 logo on it. Common now, but wasn't back then. Always a fan of that V10 :)
Back in 2007 I looked hard at RS6, ended up buying a 2.7TDI A6 Quattro AND a Cayman S ... for less money in total. The A6 did 110k miles in 7 years, should never have sold it - brilliant grip in snow, superb mile muncher economical. Still have the Cayman which has done 45k. At today’s prices you can do the same today.

@@randomhero4152 I was 2 Calls away from buying one and i went for a RS5 instead, both were priced the same. I thank god that i did not buy a RS6 C6, because my Buddy is doing software mapping for Audis (General, no matter if A/S/RS). He had a customer with a RS6 V10 like 2 years after i got the RS5 instead of the RS6 which had 70.000km. He literally had to maintain the car for his customer even hes usually only doing mappings because it was so insanely expensive at audi and no other workshop had enough knowledge to work on it. It would all result in trial and error. When the the first turbo went he had to pull out the whole engine. He quoted the customer 3700€ for the work and 1400€ for the turbo and he did it in a shed. The Catalytic converters also failed after some months, again had to pull the engine out. The Cats were 4000€ and 3000€ for the work since he had more experience with the car. The customer sold the car when the ceramic brakes went to shit after doing literally 3 laps on the nordschleife, it cost 15900€ for replacement. The owner literally had a 458 Italia and a 2017 E63 Wagon and a aston Martin Vantage. He said none of his cars cost him as much as the RS6 in repairs and maintenance. Working on a NA Audi V8 is horrible enough, if you make a V10 out of it crammed into a small engine compartment and slap two turbos on top its a complete nightmare.

The C6 Rs6 is a really special car to me, I first sat in one on the Audi stand in worthersee/Austria before they were even on sale and said to myself one day I need to have one! 4 years later I picked up my C6 Rs6 avant from the Lamborghini dealership in Reading who’d taken it as a part ex. Sitting between an orange aventador and a lime green gallardo it was almost invisible on the forecourt, I said to the salesman I’m not interested in those two I’m here for the estate car!😁 4.2sec 0-60 is a bonus. Their real party piece is their mid range/top end pull! Mrc tuned cars are ludicrously fast. As far as handling is concerned I’ve fitted 285/35/21 Michelin pilot super sports and the kw adjustable spring kit which retains the drc functionality (comfort does what it says very soft when you need it/ dynamic is the one I use 90% of the time, sport is only good for the smoothest of roads or a racetrack should any Rs6 owner actually do that!🤷🏻♂️) medium to fast corners it’s truly planted, tighter or slower speed cornering you can’t hide the mass of the car but it’s not a light super car it’s a heavy 2 tonne estate so not sure why people expect any different really! The v10 sound to me is much more exotic than the v8 in the c7/c8, it is an awesome/brutal sound and I’d be lying if I said I’ve not been tempted to move to the c7, but in reality I reckon all the banging, crackling and pops would become a bit too much! I’ve got an evo ix mr fq360 too so handling/pops/bangs are already covered!😜

The engine in this is the same V10 FSI that was used in the S6 and S8 from the same generation and later ended up in the facelifted Gallardo and the R8. It just has some slight modifications to make it better suited for turbocharging.
Its slightly de-stroked to 5.0 liters instead of 5.2 liters and has a slightly lower compression ratio of 10.5:1 instead of 12.5:1. But it very prominently features twin VTG turbochargers, has forged pistons, forged connecting rods and a stronger crankshaft. These modifications make the engine incredibly stout, the stock internals are good for up to 800-900 hp.

Those engines are far from the same. Just because they share the same number of cylinders doesn't mean they are identical. And the 5.2 isn't a "lambo" engine, it's a Audi engine that was used by lamborghini. Might as well say vw uses škoda engines in their cars.
Rufusi0301 Nope, exactly like I said. It’s all slightly different versions of the same design, except for the old 5.0 Lamborghini V10 which this is not. This car has, like I said, a destroked and slightly changed version of the Audi 5.2 FSI V10 but turbocharged. Source: My father is one of the engineers who was on the r&d team at Audi that constructed it.

Also what I said is exactly true. The 5.2 FSI engine (which is the same as the 5.0 turbocharged FSI in the RS6) replaces the old 5.0 Lamborghini-made V10. Those engines aren’t comparable, but the engine in this car isn’t the Lamborghini engine like you were thinking.
