      Actually, almost every 16" set we have sold shipped with either an MX33, X30, or Shinko Cheater mounted and ready to ride. We are going to offer more turn-key as an option on the site, but if you order everything together we are mounting them for free (at the moment...this promo won't last forever it's a lot of work). Currently sold out of 16", waiting for inventory to build more...hopefully not too much longer. You can hit the notify me button on website or follow us on IG to learn when they arrive.

    Won't the 16" wheel reduce the rear height, thus altering the geometry of the bike? Did you have to raise the forks in the triples to compensate?

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have a photo in the link below that shows how tiny of a height difference there is between the OEM tires and a motocross 90/100-16, we're talking less than 1/4". It's not really noticeable at all and the performance difference is pretty mind blowing. You can raise the rear end with a linkage, we are not selling those yet, but Warp9 is about to begin producing them and we will be selling those. chargedcycleworks.com/collections/wheels/products/16-sur-ron-x-rear-wheel

    Is that with stock gearing? What spoke length do you use to the rear? Do you need to drill out the holes in the rear hub?

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes with 10g spokes you must drill the holes slightly larger. Our CNC hubs first batch arrive next week, we custom built these hubs to solve these issues by making the spoke holes 10g in size and moving the spoke flanges 1/8" away from the sprocket so that you don't have to use spoke tension to dish the wheel. Pretty excited about our hubs :)

      I've been running 16/19 on my Surron for almost a year, Seat of the pants, it feels the same power, but different. you have far more traction and the rear tire rarely spins out vs an OEM which spins out far too easy especially with the CST tires resulting in poor control of the bike in loose sand/dirt and especially with hill climbs. I'm sure the tests are going to show a slight degrade in pure acceleration (straight line on pavement), possibly a very minor loss in range due to the slight weight gain, but superior performance and traction and reduction in flat tires. Can't wait to see the results!

    • @ChargedCycleWorks

      We wouldn’t run 16” front and back. Rim width and tire selection doesn’t lend itself to a viable front wheel. 16/19 is the magic combination.

    awesome, thanks for making me even more unsure about which tire set to go with hahaha... :P

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The easiest way to explain the difference is this: 16/19 is the king of performance on surron, you get the best handling and traction and tire selection with minimal weight penalty and this is ideal for those not planning to do power upgrades. 18/21 will make your surron feel bigger and heavier and more like a motorcycle and you will definitely want power upgrades with 18/21.

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @O G Correct. 16/19" and 18/21" are moto standards, so lots of tire choices. The 16" rear fits the SurRon's natural proportions really well. Some 17" tires will work, but not many options.

  • @John-ep4in

    How is running the front and rear 19" stock wheels with upgraded tires?

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's certainly an upgrade from the OEM and is some of the best bang for your buck you can do. The CST tires are very flimsy tires, easy to pinch flat if you do not run 30+ psi in them. I also had a lot of problems with the front OEM tire washing out in high speed turns. Up front we absolutely love a great 19" MX tire like a Dunlop MX33,Tusk T35, Bridgestone M203, Kenda K775. You'll be able to run about 15psi in those on the Ron. Out back our #1 recommended rear tire for OEM size is the Kenda Trackmaster which has been sold out for 4 months and we literally just got a shipment in 2 days ago and they are in stock again: chargedcycleworks.com/collections/surron-tires/products/kenda-k760-trakmaster-rear-tire-70-100x19-for-sur-ron-or-segway-x260

      @@ChargedCycleWorks interesting you don't recommend a running m203 in the rear? I was afraid the track master would be too heavy.

    I really want to run a 18/19 setup. it seems you dont think that would work but I dont like how big the 18/21 setup front wheel is and I dont like how small the 16 inch is. maybe a 17 inch back wheel?

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Fuze, don't get hung up on the RIM size, the only thing that matters is the diameter of the tire. Our 16" MX tires are less than 1" smaller diameter than the 19" OEM, nearly un-noticeable on the bike with 100x better traction and handling. You can install a Warp9 0.75" linkage riser to bring it back to the OEM height. The reason you shouldn't run an 18" rear with a 19" front is the bike will be extremely off-balance in both traction and geometry. The 18" MX rear will have massive traction and its a much larger diameter that should only be used with a 21" front. With a 19" up front you are raising the rear and shifting weight forward onto the 19" and that 19" will be over-powered and cause handling problems with bad geometry. Remember this, you NEVER want the front tire to be a smaller diameter than the rear tire on an off-road bike, that is a recipe for terrible handling. This is why you need to run these combo's: 16/19, 19/21, 18/21 which come from MX bikes with 50+ years of testing and development.

  • @markwhite4868

    You guys should design a rear hub that accepts standard MB rotors. That would be great 👍

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We looked at this, but it's more challenging than you would think. The reason Surron does not use MTB rear rotors is because a much larger bearing is required for the rear hub to be reliable and stand up to the weight and power of these machines. You cannot reduce the size of this bearing to fit a MTB rotor and expect reliability. For that reason we stuck with an OEM rear rotor and maintained 100% OEM compatibility with our hubs.

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We hear you, and we do strive to offer low cost upgrades because we totally understand this. At the same time the same can be said for any machine, people buy $10,000 KTM's and dump another $5000 into them, people buy $40,000 Jeeps and dump $40,000 into them. There is something for everyone and we are trying our best to meet both ends of the spectrum.
      The wonderful thing about the Surron is it's great at $4000 and it's got a HUGE aftermarket following giving you tons of choices for upgrades that suite your budgets and needs.
