For someone who got into hunting not too long ago, I gotta say, you are a true Outdoorsman in every sense of the word. Turkey Grand Slam, Antelope, Elk, Mule Deer, White Tail, Duck, Alligator, Hog and now trapping predators to help with the conservation of natural wildlife? Letting deer pass in this state that 90% of hunters, that have hunted their entire lives would have taken and now trapping my dream catch! If more people were like you, this place would be a hunters paradise. Can’t wait to see the mount, maybe I’ll get my black coyote one day. Congratulations and Mad respect.
This comment really made my day brother!!! Thank you! I have been doing a little research on enhancing the habitat I hunt, and it has been molding me to be more conservation based/focused. It's rare to find someone like minded around here, but I can tell that we are on the same exact page with all of the mentioned topics. I wish more people thought this way, it would increase the quality & quantity of game we have in the state. Good luck on catching a black coyote!!! If it happened for me, it can definitely happen for you. This is literally the only one I've caught the entire season.. lol
@@swamptosoundadventures8337 It happens to the best of us bro!!! lol.. One did the same thing to me last season. I added a 2nd trap to that same set, but didn't catch em. 😅
Wow man! Congratulations. That’s an epic coyote! I don’t see any black coyote coming from WV and a few from the south but that’s still supper rare! That’s awesome! Really enjoyed catching up on your channel, can’t wait for the fall/winter.
Bro.. that was by far my most epic catch yet!!! I've only been trapping a few seasons, but that black coyote was by FAR the most crazy & rare thing I've caught. It was literally my first coyote also, which makes it even crazier!!! lol.. It's currently at the taxidermist. Thanks for watching and catching up on the channel, I'll def have more content coming his fall!!!
That is a perfect spot for them. Block them more from behind the set, or make a new set right beside the catch set. Never get too close to small saplings, coyotes will pull their toes off if the trap and swivels get entangled in brush. Great Job Man!
Your sets are looking pretty good. The only suggestions I would make is offset your traps just 2-3 inches to the left or right of centerline. Think about the shoulder spread on a coyote, if they look down that hole, that trap is right at their breast bone. Also lower your duck wings a few feet. 48-50 inches from the ground is all you really need for bobcat. The likelyhood that they try to jump for it is pretty low. Other than that you're doing just fine buddy.
Those coyotes are so smart man. They’ll dig them up. Me and my dad have been trapping all over the CSRA for the better part of 10 years and it’s amazing how smart those animals are. Most people don’t think so because of the way they’re perceived, as a pest basically. We’ve had them literally dig up the trap and flip it over without it ever being set off.
That same exact thing happened to me this passed season. They dug my trap up and had it sitting on the ground, pan face down and it hadn't been set off. It was both amazing & frustrating at the same time. lol
I had the pan tension set too high when I first started, then I re-did them, and I think I set it too low. lol.. Still trying to get it all dialed in. Thanks for watching!!!
Sorry I havnt commented in a while. Ive been watching from my roku and cant figure out how to comment. That is one badass catch!!! Im with you regarding getting it mounted. They are rare. Only 2% of total population at most and that’s only in certain areas. Your turkeys will thanks you. You know that foxes also kill turkeys too. Especially poults. If your trapping predators you need to remove ALL predators you catch. Ask around to see if any fox hunting clubs exists for the foxes. They might pay you for them. Keep it up man.
Thanks brother!!! It's still CRAZY to me that my one and only coyote catch so far, has been this super rare one. I'm talking with a taxidermist now about getting him mounted. I'm going to look into fox hunting clubs and see what I can come up with. I've taken one grey & one red so far this season. I skinned them both and plan on having them professionally tanned. This is my first season seriously trying predator trapping, & I'm excited to see how it all turns out. Thanks again for the comment, the advice & watching these videos! I appreciate it. 💯💯💯
@@bloodsweatandgears87 Anytime. Im excited for turkey season approaching. Maybe this will be my year to actually get one. Im learning how to hunt them by watching videos and trial and error. Almost connected last year a couple times but thee birds hung up too far out. Take care. Good luck

How did you put him down wat kinda gun
Probably 22 to the head is my guess
22 just like Highdessert_hunter said. Quick & efficient.
Congratulations on a nice catch!
Thanks!!!

Thanks for the tips, going to implement that when our trapping season kicks back off. Appreciate it!!
Awesome catch brother! You really did a great job on your set. 🙂👍👏👏👏
Thanks bro!!!
I hope you did get him mounted that’s nice!! Show a video or something on him when he’s done!
Thank you.. will do!!! He's at the taxidermist now & I can't wait until it's finished!!!
I called in a black coyote in western Mo for a wildlife photographer, it had a white diamond between its front legs
Nice!!! Most of the black ones seem to have that same white patch on the chest.

Keep up the awesome videos!!
Working on it right now. lol.. Thanks for watching!!!
Adjust that pan tension on the traps. Foxes, especially Red Fox mess with the pans if there is any scent there. Good job on the videos, Thank You.
