I feel your pain on empty traps. I am 70 years old and have been trapping for 59 years (since I was 11). I am currently running 2 dozen traps for beaver and otter and am in a dry spell. It has been 4 days since I have made a catch. My last catch was a nice male otter. I am at 20 beaver and 4 otter as this point in the season and the season is almost 2 months old at this time. Dry spells do not last forever and things will start clicking again shortly just have to exercise patience.
I only have time for a short line, maybe a dozen traps each season and I have empty traps most days but when I do connect with a critter it fuels the excitement of the line. Carry on, and thanks for the honesty in this one!
@@timothyrothrock4173 I don't have near as many, but IMO everybody should have at least a dozen 110's and know how to use them. Most brands are around $5.00 or less each, cheaper in quantity. My lesson is to also have a few replacement triggers on hand for each size of B.G. you have
I've really liked this series and hope it keeps going. I've seen a lot of your earlier videos and have told friends to check them out as well, thanks for having the archive available, they are great. This series is really helping to show beginners that just because you didn't catch something, it doesn't mean you are setup wrong. I hope you keep it going, thanks for the video!
Love the video series, love watching you check the line. Also keep showing us what types of sets you put in the ground and why you put them there. I like how you show us quick and easy simple sets to where you catch a lot of stuff, and it also doesn’t take to long to set, thanks
I've been wondering where the trapping videos were. Good to see you out there giving us knowledge. My dry land season is wrapping up soon but I'm still hoping for a coyote and a bobcat.
This Illinois weather is something!! I haven't even set any coyote traps I'm targeting beaver and raccoon! I don't want to fight the mud like last year! Thank you for sharing and Happy Holidays my friend!
Mom always used 📍 fabric pins/straight pins to hold up the headliner... You slip them in horizontal. They don't fall out so easy to prevent... Discomfort....
Here where I trap in West Virginia I only am trapping on two different properties that are 5 miles apart so I am definitely trapping the same pack of coyotes on both properties. That explains why I am checking empty traps most of the time. I enjoyed the video very much.
Is it possible for a video on 330s. Just bought some gunna try to trap beavers. Don’t have any runs that I can put them in. I only have cross overs from one body of water to another and cross overs on the dam. Any tips?
JMHO- have a set of tong setters, the hook, and a rope. There's gonna be some time come up when you're caught without a good way to compress the springs, and if you just have one, Murphy will see to it that whatever you brought with you isn't practical for where you're at
Most fur in this region is worthless I trap to benefit the small game and gamebirds and fawns and local livestock and pets. The turkeys in this region are having a rough time making a comeback because very few trap varmints anymore with no viable market
@@sawoodworking9200 In Illinois you can drive a SxS on county roads, some cities require a registration sticker.... Heck he can probably drive an ATV... for ¨farm use only
Most ATV'S and UTV'S aren't DOT certified and have off road only tires. Running one down the highway in a lot of areas would draw unwanted attention from LE

I have 60 foot holds and over 100 110 conibear hanging in the shed. I have a few coil springs in the ground. Knees are not cooperative anymore

Man just keep doing what you like to do I like it💯💯💯💯💯👍🏾
I know all to well how that goes when it comes to dry spells and yotes!
Merry Christmas Stew and family 🎄😁👍
Great video! Thanks for keeping it real/honest.
Does somebody need a hug??? 😂😂😂 Elf movie
Great job
Lots of deer here too, east coast. I have had my share of deer firing traps off.
How do we decipher a deer trail from a critter trail? Anything besides deer tracks? Are they wider, taller...?
Stu, don't use tacks to hold up your headliner... Google upholstery twist pins.
LOL sent him on his way!

What are your opinions on using a duke 1 3/4 for coyote trapping it says they are good for them
I still run a couple dozen duke #2's that are centered swivel. Coyote will tweak them at times on frozen ground but they catch and hold just fine.
Just me- I like to have the
widest jaw spread allowed
by the local laws
More chance of getting a paw
into the kill area of the jaws.
What think of snow ? Does that help ?
Will you be putting up any new content soon?
More rabbits less coyotes in louisiana it seems in my area
Rabbits go on an eleven year cycle, if I recall correctly. You can tell by the number of hawks.
Still waiting for the skinning video
This land you trapping private land with permission ?
You mean their is a market,
Yes, there is
I would love to trap again I can’t find a market anywhere,

Dont u have a sxs why use a truck
He’s driving to different properties. He would still have to drive his truck to pull the sxs around lol
@@sawoodworking9200i thought bout a few mins ago lol
He's only 14 miles from home he could just drive the sxs. That's what I do, but I'm sure he's got more gear than I do an needs the truck space
