  • Bought some beat up CDJs from a club showing error E-8709 (Wait). I was planning on getting them serviced (would still have been a good deal given how expensive these things are) and then I saw this video:
    • How to fix the CDJ 200...
Figured I'd try, and document (poorly) the process. I frankly didn't think it would, but there we are, all with a 20 bucks heat gun from ali
Check this guy's video it is MUCH BETTER than mine. Just put it there as living proof it worked

Reflow is an unstable procedure used also with computer motherboards often for fix gpu. It make your devices works for some time but it can leave you in the middle of a gig. I wouldn't trust on a reflown device. Better to change the entire card

"reflow" is NOT an unstable procedure. it is a legitimate form of electronics repair that we use all the time especially in cases of cold or broken solder joints.
essentially what we are doing is remelting the solder then allowing it to dry which should or hopefully should mend any of the broken solder joints that is causing the error.. we use a reflow station which gives us a very targetted flow of hot air so we can Target specific solder joints with minimal effects on its surrounding components.. using a hot air gun like this is a bit crude, but if the hot air gun gets to a hot enough, you're going to reflow the solder no matter what. the only thing is that you would need to aim that nozzle directly onto the components with the suspected broken solder joints for much longer time. we usually solder components at around 350 to 400° Fahrenheit.. so the reflow something, you're going to need to get the solder up to that temperature.. nothing unstable about it, nothing temporary about it..

You've just heated it less than 90 seconds, try to just point and focus on the chip for 60seconds then circle the blower around it for 40seconds, it will smell a little bit like burned chip but that's the way to reflowed it it's normal. Then rest it for around 5minutes.

Ya, I actually had to redo it one time

@@zbiiibou Could you finally repair it? I have a CDJ-400 with the same error code, but no one in google provides an explanation or solution. Perhaps your method of heating the chips for a certain time is a workable solution. I await your answer and thank you very much!

@@wasuwasol3115 yes, they're good and I use them all the time. I'm really not sure about 400s tbh but I suppose it might work the same
