Yes, overused song I know. But it's Star Trek. I kind of forgot how much I loved Star Trek after Into Darkness came out but Beyond just brought it all back for me. Not to mention the tv show!!!! Holy shit I'm excited.
I tried focussing on all the different characters and the relationships they have. I hope this does them justice.

Okay!! I've been thinking about this for a little while, I LOOOOVE the Star Wars trilogy and I know that the fans have always been fighting against each other over which one is better but I really want to watch Star Trek. What order should I watch it in? The Original Series or The Next Generation first?
Definitely watch the original series!! It's old and there are lots of episodes, so some are obviously better than others. You could probably Google the best episodes or most important ones. Some of the original movies are quite good (the best ones in my opinion are The Wrath of Khan and The Search For Spock. Watch WOF before SFS, obviously), others not so much. Next Generation takes a while to get good, the first few seasons are pretty rough, but you need to watch those earlier episodes to understand everything. I'm pretty sure there's a Generations movie with both Captain Kirk AND captain Picard. I haven't seen it, but my dad's been a Star Trek fan since he was a kid and he told me about it. I personally prefer the original series because I care for those characters more... But there's seriously SO MUCH Star Trek content it can be a bit overwhelming if you're looking to start a series. I myself still haven't seen all of the episodes of the original series (and I haven't watched that much Next Gen, to be honest) and I haven't seen all of the original movies. Wrath of Khan has some great parallels to Star Trek: Into Darkness (seriously, you'll cry so hard) and Tne Search For Spock is just a giant feels trip. I adore both movies. So yeah. Whatever floats your fancy :)
Sorry, got a little fangirl-y there, lol. To answer your question simply: watch the original series first. You have the watch the episode "Space Seed" before the Wrath Of Khan movie to understand the film. The order really doesn't matter all that much, I just think you'll appreciate Next Gen more after watching the first tv series :) Hope this helped!!
