On Big Train Simon Pegg was always the master of the childish reaction of "Oh! Right!"
if you're ever feeling a bit under the weather just watch a Big Train skit ;)
Yeah
Simon Pegg being my brain cell for 2 minutes
The whole time when the coach was getting in the point is actually funny ,the ending is a nice surprise
This is what made British comedy so good! Fantastic sketch work.
pretty sure Peter Sellars Spike Milligan and the Pythons would give you a good argument, if they could
I remember seeing this when it was first on TV years ago, and it still remains one of my favourite sketches :D :D
There literally hasn’t been as good it since then.
More favourite than Mark Heap's gymnastics routine?
This is quite simply the rib-busting funniest sketch there has ever been. Ive seen this multiple times since it came out and I still crack up.
😁😁😁😂😂
When I first saw this I started laughing so hard I tore all my connective membranes and had to be rushed to hospital for life saving surgery. The only way they could get me to stop laughing was to electrocute my testicles. I'm now infertile and my wife left me for my best friend!
That’s the first time I’ve seen that. Brilliant!
I flippin well love Kevin Eldon
The ACTOR Kevin Eldon
Man, I just LOVE big train!
Laughed all the way through this, but the last 15 seconds had me in tears! Brilliant!
One of the best comedy sketches ever,
probably the under rated show
Big Train only 2 series a shame classic show
It's underrated because it's under-aired, which is a shame when you consider all the other crap that gets prime-time showing
Backstage at the Nuremberg rally is absolute genius.
Straight line! Straight on the pole! Alright, have a cup of tea to wait for Ambulance👌
Up there for best sketches ever this imho. “Back on the track” and peggs connection with the post is comedy gold.
Such simple concepts in most of the Big Train sketches. All they really needed to do was set it up, & get the actors to do their stuff 😄
The way he veers to the left does for me!! Have a butchers at 'Schoolmaster' and 'Big Dog' sketches. Too funny!! 😂😂😂
Sorry my engleesch not so good. Why go to Butchers shop?
Isleofskye to buy meat 🥩
I heard off Butchers Dog. Same?
i like the end, just epic XD
Great sketch - and all one take until the gag at the end. Superb
" Me and my tiny Pony "... Hahaha. Watch that one too !
yay, simon pegg!!!
You had ONE job Mike - just ONE JOB!!
I think the starting before the gun is a great beat.
LOL he's got enthusiasm

I accidentally paused this and it looked like it he was stalling for ages.
Didn't see that coming!
Olympic Gold Punchline

Hardly Mike's fault. He never mentioned anything about straight line :(
Exactly! :)
Too funny! lool

I've always liked british humour ;)
BRit humour 4 ever!!
British athletes. Best in the world...
Bring it home for 2012, boys!

BOOM-YUP!!!
The end is a bit funnier than the beginning ..
That's totally Monty Python.
danke schoen
Hahah so funny 😂
Oh Simon.
genius
Cup of tea and some milk mmm... perfect combination :D
Yes. Yes it is.
Is it ok to use the audio of this clip on a podcast? I’ll put a link to this video in the bumpf.
perfect timing! :-) btw, does this remind anyone else of the fry & laurie football coach sketch?
British and proud :D
There's a real difference between getting something, and appreciating it.
Great sketch. If you're looking for another brilliant sketch on an athletics theme, then I recommend Mitchell and Webb's "glucozade port".
Too funny!
Hahahaah loool
Ah I miss Finsbury Park
yes it is
I’ve always wondered what a coach of a 100 metre sprinter actually does. Now I know all the work that goes on behind the scenes. . When you see them on the TV it all looks so easy but there’s hours of training gone into it. People think it’s just a matter of waiting for the gun and then just run as fast as you can in a straight line …….think again.
I have to say the comedic connection that these two have really amplifies not only the basic yet hilarious premise, but really engages the viewer and generates that crucial anticipation that makes it work. The timing and the beautifully constructed nature is absolutely text book. Well done guys, excellent work. My only mild criticism would be that the outfits worn could have been louder in appearance and a larger crowd watching would have given the viewer someone to laugh with. I think if the coach had groaned more after each fail and maybe slapped his thigh in frustration, that would have really underlined the annoyance that he was feeling and I believe the viewer would have fed off that. Still a good effort though but perhaps a view things to work on.
Dude this is a 14 year old video. Do you think they are still taking constructive feedback on a show that ended more than a decade ago?
@@Redskies453I’d hope so. I run monthly comedy classes and we will very often go over old comedy scripts from decades gone by and I explain to my students the areas of improvement.
So mich of being a gold medalist at the olympics
Mitchell and Webb stole this for their clap sketch
lol
thats funny
Dobre:)
we just want to save some bullets
Maybe he should try running backwards, like that woman who was in the news recently.
@emotzki no they aren't...
I think its brilliant!! :D I mean, some of the humour of Big Train I dont get though. just a question of taste. Its differant for everybody
2:17 did he mean a muffit of tea?
Goes perfect with a chocolate chowks
How weak minded of me
@EvilBoobs6 "Unfortunately"?
Kevin Eldon
@EvilBoobs6 lol I love how everyone feels the need to point out that these guys are British. Proves how ignorant we Americans are. Just say if you like it or not. It doesn't matter if you're British.
the sketches were written by two irishmen
@EvilBoobs6 Unfortunately?
I think this is what people call relativity, even though two people are only 1 meter apart, sound has to travel 340m to reach his ears.
@annabelisme Congrats on coming in 2nd last then.
I don’t get it. Why was he running sideways?
how do you say ice cream in czech?
Zmrzlina..
i was using shorthand..
j/k = just kidding.
Because it's a greate excuse to do fuck all. And tea's pretty cool to drink.
Shoot down at ground..may be then no delay
@EvilBoobs6 I'm Dutch :D
A Dutch person saying they're Dutch. It's what they do.
That moment when you realise that the personal trainer is Penfold.
Remember when Mitchell & Webb shamelessly copied this with the ‘when I clap, you clap back straight away’ sketch.
Is this a training video? I just wasted 3 minutes. Should I push off on the gun or anticipate it before the trigger?

Lazy? I've never been to Britain so I dunno about whether the British in general are lazy or not. The furthest place I had been to was Paris and Melbourne. And I can definitely tell you that people in both countries are slow as hell. If they come to live in Hong Kong, they would definitely die before they even get a job.
However, the British colonial government did quite well in Hong Kong. So I don't think Briish are lazy.
in 2021 some probably get offended by this
@annabelisme You have my humblest apologies. I hope Daddy bought you a new car for your success? Just think, you were only one away from Bronze!
There's no logical reason as to why characters act the way they do in British Comedy
Back when the BBC was funny
@rebelbiscuit
The same writers as Father Ted no less. And, like Father Ted, I cannot think of a single bad episode of Big Train.
why the British always want to have little breaks and a cup of tea?
