- With every popular series there will always be some sort of spin off, and no all spin offs are created equal. Some video game spin offs have become cult classics or renowned favorites. But these...these are one that made me angry. Whether it be bad controls, terrible plot, lackluster game design, I was angry. So let's jump into my Top 10 Worst Spin Off Games!

The Mockracy If you have fucking anything you’re being listened to, can’t change that, another device monitoring you is nothing at this point.
I look back on that game and laugh for the very reasons he described. When I was a kid, that part where Pikachu leaves sent me on an emotional roller coaster just like Pikachu’s Goodbye and that sad scene from The Fox and The Hound. My mom was thoroughly concerned when she walked in on me crying my eyes out.
I'd debate that Umbrella Corps was worse then Operation Raccoon city since it took everything about the series and threw it out the window to try and capitalise on a pvp multiplayer focused game.
How about Resident Evil Survivor for the PS1? That hot piece of FPS ass.
Clearly hasn't played all RE games, ORC is actually not too bad, I enjoyed it actually but they're are at least a couple of RE spinoffs that are worse!
I would have put Umbrella Corps ORC. At least ORC tried to build upon the events of RE2 and RE3. Yes, mechanically it is a mess but at least it is not so broken that the run, crouch and crawl are all the same speed. I would take a remastering of ORC.
Especially a pvp multiplayer without players to play and with a single player campaign so dull to do. ORC was good especially with people

I had just recently immigrated here to the US back when the game came out, and my parents bought me the Pikachu N64 with the game. And I loved talking to Pikachu. I had an accent when speaking English to him, but I enjoyed learning words and learning with Pikachu. It has a special place in my heart. :)

One of the best if not the best PSP exclusive. God I wish we could get a port.
@@C24U_ god no, combat is atrocious in that game. the psp has an amazing library, but crisis core is not one of them. the most that game has to offer is the story, because the combat is by far one of, if not the worst square has developed.
@@marcosdheleno Well that is an opinion, one that I don't personally agree with. Not sure why you think it's so bad outside the DMV system, which admittedly stops the flow of combat often and can be annoying. But any game that allows me to customize how I can play the game by creating new magic and moves like the materia fusion system did is a plus in my book.
@@marcosdheleno Agreed. I bought a PSP for one game and one game only: FFT: War of the Lions. A buddy of mine is a super hardcore fanboy of the Playstation and the Final Fantasy series and he bought the game. He let me borrow it for a bit but I gave it back without finishing it, because fuck that stupid slot machine.
@@C24U_ Sorry for the late reply, i think its bad because its just not fun to play, the combat is bad. they tried too hard to inovate and ended up making things terrible.
im not saying its an unlikeable game, it has its fans, but its nowhere near one of the best. kingdom hearts bbs, dissidia 1 and 2, the legend of heroes(which at the time were exclusives), half minute hero, zettai hero project, star ocean remakes.
every single one of those is objectively better games.

I would say that they don't exist, but truthfully know that no matter how much I try they will never be forgotten, even if every trace of them were destroyed

Sonic R is a guilty pleasure game. Yes it's terrible, but it's a fun terrible XD and the soundtrack is just fun to listen to.
Exactly! They need to remake it and fix it's brokenness. I myself love the soundtrack but I think they should also offer the option of listening to classic sonic tunes too. Also make Amy actually playable, literally the worst character ever in her stupid kart.
@@claytonhansen3322 Nah. Sonic R is perfectly fine the way it is. It's transcended beyond terrible game that it's living in its own realm of guilty pleasure that no matter how much you hate it, you still can't help but enjoy it.

Sooooo lightning returns is in a sequel in everything but name. Crisis core and Dirge of Cerberus are spin offs. That's like saying borderlands pre sequel is a spinoff.
It is though
hit the nail on the head. due to how the main "roman number" line of final fantasy works, they are not just sequel (and btw, all games with those can be played on their own and be a complete experience). but between 4after years, the mess that is 7 ancillary, the invalice alliance being completelly canonical even if not cronologically consequencial, dissidia is a spin of with a rhytimn game spin off of itself, FFXIII is the one that got the bad juju.
XIII-2 was never supposed to be a trilogy in the eyes of the pubblic untill 45 seconds from the credit roll, agito is a full-out spin off, versus XIII has been in froduction limbo for years before rebranding into XV
to be fair amiibo festival is the cheapest way to get an Isabelle amiibo since I bought it for 10 bucks where as the regular one retails at 12.99 😂😂

dude the moment they added time travel to FF13 the story was going to be a clusterfuck and that was on top what FF13 already did but at least Lightning Returns had good gameplay

I hate the fact I giggled at the way Jirard said, "boobies" every time. I know I'm immature. Great video Jirard!
I honestly didn't mind Lightning Returns too much, sure it was a large step down after the brilliant 13-2 (yes it's in my top 5 FFs, I genuinely love that game) but it was still leagues better than 13. The combat took me ages to get to grips with and I'm not crazy about the time limit but overall I enjoyed playing it, I even got the platinum trophy in it.
Also whenever I see a Top 10 Worst list I always think about the complete opposite, what would you say are the BEST spin-off games, personally I go with the "Mega Man Battle Network" series as I was never a fan of the original or "X" series but absolutely adored BN.

Which is ironic because X-Men Origins: Wolverine has a good video game tie-in.
I've played this game and, while it's not great, it's far far better than special forces. I'm honestly surprised he didn't put the garbage pile that is special forces on this list rather than mythologies.

No an MGS game with Zombies doesn't sound like a bad idea. Cuz when you think about it, it isn't. It's the kind of game that Hideo Kojima would have probably wanted to have gotten made at some point because it's just the kind of ridiculous that's up his alley.

I loved Operation Racoon city. You're right its not great, but this is a wonderful guilty pleasure game that also adds a bit to the lore by taking place during the outbreak in racoon.

I actually completed Operation Raccoon City, worst part was the online achievements. Umbrella Corps was far worse. Awesome video I have never heard of some of these!
Yeah I have the platinum and enjoyed playing it with friend... 7/10 for me atleast
The volleyball in the first DOA xtreme was actually a lot of fun. There just wasn't anything else to the game..apart from a casino and buying swimsuits I guess. My buddies and I used to play it all the time when we were younger. It might actually be the most fun I ever had with videogame volleyball. It's simple, but that was part of the charm. Once you get the timing and the rhythm down you can just go nuts with it and dunk on each other. Add some alcohol or some garbage food and you've got a fun way to kill time on a boring afternoon.

darkwatershadow Tina was my favorite. She liked Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast and had salmonella.

I actually really enjoyed Lightning Returns, although the whole ‘countdown to the end of the world’ thing wasn’t especially compatible with my anxiety. I found the story for the whole trilogy takes a while to get your head round, so wouldn’t really see it as a reason to single out LR specifically for that one, haha.
However, I do agree with you that the FF numbering system makes it a bit confusing on what should be considered main series, spin-offs, etc.!
Residemt evil raccoon City wasnt the best game but it was kinda fun. All it had to do was give those players more character ya know?
It was way fun with a group of people. Back on xb360, i had a few people that would always play that and MGS Peace Walker hd whenever. Good times
Umbrella Corps is much worse imo
it was better when you had the Spec Op DLC, which.. is a bunch of BS
but 6 missions for SO, 6 for Umbrella.
you get both sides of the story and it just flowed better.
I bought the SE and was always pissy SO was still its own DLC.
Vanilla is shit tho, no Alt. costumes or the weapons and you beat the game hella quick.
It's not even the worst Resident Evil game. Survivor was terrible for the PS1

i feel like amiibo festival might've been better recieved as a physical board game. because that's all it seems to be: a basic board game. which in and of itself isn't bad, basic board games have their own entertainment value. and video game versions of physical board games can be just as entertaining. but yeah, forcing players to get multiple amiibo just to play the game is the major detraction from amiibo festival.

Weird but good, and very testing with the challenges after story mode
Though over all a solid list, two major problems. Starting wit Lightning Returns while also acknowledging Dirge Of Cerceberus. Sorry, but no, LR is still far better than that, heck LR is still a fairly decent game overall, DoC... not so much.
Then, yeah, Operation Raccoon City is bad... but Umbrella Corps makes it look like the love child of RE2 and 4 in comparison. Umbrella Corps is THAT bad.

Also: Far Cry New Dawn. I adore how the FC franchise can experiment with their subgenres but this felt like DLC...FC DLC in the past, like Blood Dragon, has been stellar. And then this? Idk, made me feel a little empty
When you played the Mario Paint music while introducing the Mario educational series, I about threw my phone. "You better NOT say Mario Paint, Girard! I will rage quit you!", I exclaimed.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed XIII and XIII-2. Not my favorite FF games, but still enjoyable. I also fully agree, XIII-3 was a huge mess. I played it, but needed a strategy guide from the beginning, where I usually wait until I'm stuck. That 13 day time limit freaked me out. I don't do well under pressure.
Also, loved Sonic R, but I played the PC version, and my computer in the late '90's was super slow, so I never had those control/speed issues, so I really enjoyed it. And the soundtrack is amazing.
But I like the volley ball games...
I'm not ashamed to admit that I played the first game for over 100+ hours,and I thought that a lot of the swimsuits were super cute and jealous that I could never have the confidence to wear any of them XD

I actually like Sonic R, once you get used to the physics is actually pretty easy. It's also the origin of the Tails Doll meme and my favourite character Metal Knuckles.

I think it’s official that animal crossing amiibo festival is the worst game Nintendo has ever made.
Making a drinking game out of Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival makes it one of the best games of all time.
fun fact: Mario is the most successful spin-off of all time. Seriously, Mario is actually a spin-off of Donkey Kong....think about that for a moment.
also I like the DOAX games....no not for the boobs. I actually enjoy the volleyball believe it or not.
and Operation Raccoon City was bad, but it's still leagues better than Umbrella Corps.....

Sadly, Zero Gravity was a step backwards and then Sonic Free Riders (The Kinect Game) killed off the franchise. :/

Well, I mean, when you're competitors are a garbage fire and a wet dumpster...
That it was. I put a lot of hours into that game to 100% it because I just had so much fun.
Final Fantasy 13-3 is definitely not a spin-off. XD
And definitely not the worst, neither as a main entry nor as an spin off. Main Entries is a whole different can of worms, but as an Spin Offs, is not worst than Dirge of Cerberus, and none of them is worst than All The Breavest.
@singularon1 I actually love 13, got dissapointed by 13-2 and I am so so with LR (love the gameplay, but the time limit stress me to the point I can't play it), but I am tired of defending the game, to the point I am just like "At least is not worst than..." And usually I bring FF II, but in this case I would say DoC.

Is it really a spin off? I classify that more as a reboot.
It's not a spinoff and the game is actually good if you stop focusing on it not being the exact same DMC/Dante as the others.
vradarx idk about that, yeah I can understand that it’s more of a reboot. It being a good game though? Don’t make me laugh, every hardcore DMC fan can agree that game was a mistake.(including capcom considering they want to forget about that game)
Operation Raccoon City was a guilty pleasure for me. Definitely not a very GOOD game, but it was an incredibly FUN game though.

I love Sonic R. I will always enjoy booting it up for a race, or even just to listen to the music. But yeah, the controls are horrible - like, worse than Adventure 1, and that's saying something (though thankfully not as bad as '06). Sonic Team has never had an easy time with 3D (kind of like how Game Freak has had a hard time innovating their Pokemon franchise), though with Team Racing they have shown some improvement, so maybe one day we'll get a 3D Sonic game on par with... well, every Mario game since 64.
No joke, Sonic R is my favorite Sonic Racing game thanks to the great music and exploration.
I feel like Sticker Star should've been on this list.
I’m pretty sure it’s a full blown main series Paper Mario game. If it was a spin-off, I’m pretty sure it would’ve been better received because people would’ve realized it wasn’t the real deal.

Paper Mario games are spinoffs of Mario games, they arent the main series for Mario.
While Chugga would probably agree with the sentiment, IDK if it counts as a spinoff. Sure, Paper Mario was a spinoff, but then it basically became its own series thanks to Thousand Year Door (believed to be the best of all the games from what I've heard shouted from every rooftop from here to Peterborough), Super Paper Mario, and I think Colour Splash too. While Colour Splash wasn't as great as it could have been, it was probably still better than Sticker Star.

_Operation Raccoon City_ is a tremendous guilty pleasure of mine, and in complete honesty after going through so many traditional _Resident Evil_ games consistently vulnerable and never truly confident in your ability to win, it's a nice change of pace to be able to go hog wild with an Automatic Shotgun every now and again.
At the very least the game is still more respectful to the source material than games like _Metal Gear Survive_ or _Amiibo Festival._
It's also a lot better then Umbrella Corps.
At least Resident Evil ORC had a decent campaign with some great boss fights.
Lightning Returns was my first Final Fantasy game (I know, crazy) and HOT TAKE: I thought it was alright! I enjoyed the deep customization in the schemata system.
Really great video in the future could we have the year the games came out? It's not really a needed thing it would just be cool to see
