    3:20 this passage from the liszt concerto just keeps hitting me, its absolutely wicked and a shame that it only lasts like 3 measures never to be recapitulated in the remaining part

    your liszt sonata is what convinces me that you must be a concert pianist IRL. not even the best amateurs/semi pros can play the part in the video so well.

      Il est évident que ça doit être un pianiste de concert, tout débutant que je suis on voit clairement que sa technique est supérieure à rousseau ou autre yt de ce level (que je ne dénigre pas j aimerais tellement avoir le 1/10eme de leurs capacités :p).
      Mais on sent qu avec traum ça step up.

      Yeah.. I liked very much the perfomances but the levels? Rach's prelude above level 1 and 2, and La Campanella above all? I mean, it's hard, but the other ones are a lot harder..

      Yeah, it seemed kinda strange. Der Erkönig - Schubert/Liszt is the first piece that comes to mind when thinking of extreme octaves. But La Campanella attracts viewers like crazy, and these "tier-list" videos usually ranks the difficulty of famous pieces, not all pieces

      it's not mirrored, just rotated. if it actually were mirrored it would look good because then the hands would line up on both sides

      Le preux ending is definitely the hardest octave passage that I know of, would probably be around level 12.

    I'm not sure I understand the levels... Level 1 is much much more difficult than Level 3... and so is everything else for that matter 🙈

      I mean about 1 and 3 the technical difficulties are vast, 1 being harder, however, I find it very difficult to play prelude in c# minor with musicality rather than just notes, but that's just me.

      Its not only about speed. The dynamics are also important. Playing really fast while having to play piano pianissimo is extremely hard. Now rachmaninoffs octaves are hard because the chords are really annoying to play because they are so big and also you have to play them loud af and also still musically correct that it has the right character.

    Wait how is Rachmaninov C# minor more difficult than Liszt Spanish Rhapsody? I have played that prelude and those octaves in Spanish Rhapsody definitely look faster and more difficult to play?

    For me the Mazeppa octaves were missing, but it's about a detail. As always, Traum, amazing! I wish I already had a technique as fantastic as yours! Keep up the magnificent work! PS: I'm thinking of composing a piece for you to play! I would be delighted to hear a song of mine played by a master piano player like you!

    I reckon hr6 friska should be somewhere here, as when it’s octaves are combined with left hand jumps, as lots of skill is required to perform them sufficiently.
