I’m not sure how the author of that book fell so short, and how it was even published, but they literally SUCK. I completely agree with you about romance novels having sex scenes too early!! I feel like more often than not, I mentally check out from the story and the relationship of the tension fizzles away that early on.

I would love to see you read Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan. Its more about the romance than the smut (even though there is smut).... but I just read it and loved it! Im pretty picky with my romance tropes, and I feel like its one of those romances thats pretty much impossible to dislike.

My favorite book in May (and for the whole year so far I think) is Mexican Gothic. I know, I’m SO late to that train, and somehow I managed to avoid anything about it! So when I finally picked it up I didn’t even read the back of the book, I went in completely blind, but wow I’m obsessed and can’t stop thinking about that book 💚😭 On a different note, unpopular opinion maybe but I did not like Final Girls, but every time I hear you praise Riley Sager it makes me want to try a different one of his books. But if I didn’t like Final Girls (which everyone seems to love) should I even bother? 😕
i absolutely ADORED mexican gothic i am so over the moon that you liked it!!! for you i would maybe recommend home before dark by riley sager? a classic haunted house story, so i think that would be a good fit for you!

As a middle eastern, I thank you for bringing our attention to the middle eastern terrorist stereotype in Falling. This book was on my wishlist and I would’ve been very upset to find such a stereotype in it. It would have put me off immediately, no matter how much I was enjoying the book.

i haven’t read girl in pieces but it seems to be a little bit like it’s trying too hard to be sad and just was not executed well. the way you describe how it deals with topics just seems so unsafe and as if the author is trying so hard to make the book emotional and hard hitting by including every traumatic thing in the storyline they can think of rather than dealing with issues in a well rounded way that has good representation and can be cathartic for people who have actually gone through it. it’s been on my to read shelf for a long time but i’m definitely going to reconsider :/
In my dreams i hold a knife was really not for me lol if you told me it was set in high school and not college i would totally believe you, also with the way it was going in order, person by person, with the reveal it lost that thrilling aspect and plot twist feeling for me.. BUT i get how it can be fun and addicting, i read it pretty fast myself

I'd recently read Girl in pieces and gave it 2,5/5 stars I did get a little bored around 200 pages in but still continued. It stays 2.5/5.
