This live version is so much better than the actual recording of the song, Robin's voice has so much more passion in it, the way his voice literally come close to breaking in places almost conveys how he can hardly contain his dream even more. In addition the ending isn't quite so polished. Watching this on Jools Holland when I was 14 two years ago was the first time I listened to Fleet Foxes and it blew my mind and opened me up to acoustic music completely. A phenomenal band.
This is one of the most original, compelling and authentic bands. Heard them live at Constitution Hall - just riveting, a sold-out concert. So excellent. Something timeless about them, something of the land - amazing rhythm, and those harmonies! LOVE.
EPIC! Such a gorgeous, soulful song. Brian Wilson must be a favourite of this great band. It aso reminds me of the band, Lambchop, who released a brilliant country soul record called 'Nixon', some years ago.
fleet foxes is pure raw beautiful music, normally I'd leave people to their own opinions however anyone who can't see the beauty in this band will probably never know beauty in their lifetime.
Yep, he "lost it," slightly in places, but this is what you get for doing live music and not miming to backing tracks. I loved their last album and this is in the same ballpark for me, this is "tough," to put across live and they do a really good job of it. It's so refreshing to hear this sort of thing.
@FlyBird i wasnt being a smartass. i just meant his voice was cracking due to the effort and emotion he puts across. something which sets him aside from any other singers on the circuit at the moment. think you re gettin a bit carried away pal. people on here are suggesting that he was struggling, i dont think so.
@frushuante i couldn't agree more, i quite like alot of older bands and i was soo glad to have found a band this good in modern day amongst all the pop shit :)
Yeah, dude. Sun Giant is an EP. Extended Play. Basically a longer single. Self-Titled and Helplessness Blues are LPs, or what are generally referred to as 'albums'.
@floosybow they'll be in aussie (where i live) for the new year. but i'll be in new zealand. P.S i cant get over bedouin dress. its by far my favourite song released this year.
you can find Bedouin Dress on v-s.mobi if you search "Fleet Foxes jools holland" and also you can find Sim Sala Bim using wayback machine with y t .com /watch?v=m33jJRZhtl8 put in 2011
@PatagonianRailways Yeah but I think I saw something similar before, a guy named Paul playing the same bass along the past century, in a small band called.. the Beetles ..or maybe the Beatles or sort of ;)
Patti Smith has described how she once contemplated suicide, but had decided against it on the basis that she would miss the next Rolling Stones record. Now, at last, there's a good reason for the new generation to think twice before jumping ship.
Second to Thom Yorke, Robin Pecknold is the only vocalist who can actually reduce me to tears. Just beautiful.
Saaame. For me he's up there with Thom Yorke, Nick Drake, John Lennon.
