- This is the video I wish someone made about the Digidesign C/24 controller for Pro Tools. Now usable with most DAWs with V-Control Pro by neyrinck.com Find Studio D at EpicSoundProductions.com. Join the Tribe wmg.mykajabi.c...
Love my c24 and use it all the time. A great investment for my studio. I owned the old Control 24 and now this one the C24
Does it work with the newest version of protools and the new Macs?
Binging your video at small paces while at work and gotta say: wish Avid never discontinued this unit in the first place.
It’s amazing!!
Yeah it's a looong video. Thanks for being patient. It seemed the only way to do the thing justice.
After years of lusting for one I picked one up for $500 a few months back, in near new condition, one of the later models sold, a revision M. I upgraded from PT11 to latest PT Studio 2024.3 as it still works on Windows with the latest native plugins. The integration is 2nd to none IMO. Neyrink V-Control lets me use it with other DAWs ,my primary DAW of choice is Nuendo and it's pretty good, better than an MCU with lots of configurable soft keys & the meter bridge & big counter work too which is really nice.
Excellent video Devon
$500? Man, SCORE! Awesome!
Wait, this thing works with the latest version of PT??
@@ilikemyrealname yes, on windows and mac but NOT apple silicon macs.
@@neuroscope9052 oh ok thank you for that valuable info
You have the best breakdown videos with pro tools, thank you so much new subscriber
Thank you! That is very encouraging!
Thanks for this video, I have a studio in Brazil with a C24 and this is so helpfull, many thing I didn't know it could do. Cheers
First class presentation as usual. Well worth the wait! Has given me a much clearer understanding of the C24. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this tutorial. Cheers!!
Thank you! It's been on my mind since you asked about it because I always wanted someone to make a video like this. Thanks for the push to do so, and thanks for your patience!
What a great video so far. I'm only 17 minutes in and I had to stop to comment 👌🏽 ok back to the video now 😁
Hey thanks! I appreciate the comment!
Great videos
Do you ever help people setup their studio I am looking for someone knowledgeable to help me I have c24 with older Mac a lot of outboard and a Amek console arrrgh just wondering
Great videos 🎉😊
I use a C24 with a Mac mini M1 with the latest version of PT. I have to open PT under Rosetta to fully use the c24 and uncheck the Eucon controller. It's an amazing desk, pretty much like a real console.
Previously, I had a Command 8 but I barely use it since I've had only 8 faders. Now, with 24 faders, I use it all the time. Making automation with real fader instead the mouse is awesome!! I don't use the analogue part of the c24 because I have several pre-amp better than those on the c24. I just wish to use the talback function like "auto talk back" but I have to integrate it to my Apollo's system. Sometimes, I forget to open or close talk back so this function will be very interesting for me.
Any way, I love my c24 😍! 😃
Awesome! Yeah, the analog section of the desk is not of any use to me either. one could buy 16 better mic pre's today for the cost of the DB25 snakes you need in and out of this thing alone. But I love it today as much as the day I got it home. Good on ya! Thanks for the comment!
Again very informative video
In my earlier comment I mentioned to pay for the help😅
I'd be happy to help. write me at devongraves@hotmail.com
C24 is a great console. Only reason I sold mine was you could not run HUI and Eucon at the same time. Other then that I would have kept it.
Thnx so much for this!
You are welcome, my friend!
Hi, I love my C24. For a while now, my first two displays have been showing weird letters and not the channel or plug info or whatever. I've searched all over the internet about it but haven't found anything and in my country there are no technicians who know about it. My question is if this has ever happened to you and if it did, how did you fix it?. Greetings from Colombia
Hi, Actually this sort of happened to me. First, my display for the first 8 channels went blank. Still lit, but no characters at all. Eventually my second display started to go as well. I found that my main board needed to be replaced die to corrosion on the contacts, and it cost me €900 to buy a new one, which I was able to install myself. Otherwise shipping of this beast let alone service time would have easily tripled that! It was easy enough to do myself. Had to remove about 20 screws all around and flip it over to open the thing from the bottom. Mostly ribbon cables and a few screws on the inside. No soldering or anything like that. But now it works. Wish I had better news. But this problem seems to be somewhat common. Contact your nearest Avid repair place and see if they have a main board. Good luck my friend!
@@devon-graves-studio-D thanks a lot Devon
@@devon-graves-studio-D the name of the part is display main board?
@@nachonieto7852 I believe its just called "main board" but you can certainly specify the display problem.
Are you strictly in the box or do you have outboard gear connected?
Could this controller work hand in hand with a SSL Sigma
I always loved the C24 however with some hardware going unsupported by Avid I thought it wasn’t a good investment for a small studio like mine. But always wanted a C24, nice piece of gear 😊
I read a comment where someone bought a used one in good shape for $500.
@@devon-graves-studio-D Yes I did see it but I’m mixing old style analog these days and use the DAW mainly as a modern 32 channel tape machine 👍🏼
Nice, what console?
@@devon-graves-studio-D Just an Allen&Heath GL but with a lot of outboard gear in the inserts and busses. Bought it for zero latency tracking and monitor matrix but ended up mixing with it. Same reason as you mentioned in your video for the tactile control. Also I like to mix fast and this desk allows me that and was affordable.
@@Studio22mix Allen and Heath are fantastic boards. I have my old Mackie 8 bus with 32 ins coming from the HD interfaces as well. I have my high end outboard looped directly through the interfaces parallel to the Mackie, and I have some other compressors patched into the Mackie Inserts. I use that board for my audio course as a way of teaching signal flow in the analog realm to demonstrate the workflow emulated within the DAW. My thinking is if people know the analog workflow and signal path schemes, they will naturally understand the DAW also more intuitively. Good on ya man!
I have a problem with the volume control switch. The room control is stuck. Sometimes it raises the volume to the end and sometimes it turns the volume off to the end. How do I fix this? Can you help me?
Try going into the utilities and see if you can recalibrate the monitoring section. If that doesn't help, I would contact an Avid service and repair centre. Having said that, If you don't use the 5.1, I would consider bypassing the C/24 for monitoring and get something like a Mackie Big Knob (not the passive one) and you will have far better monitoring facilities, better line and headphone amps (louder by a lot) and more than one headphone jack. And probably significantly cheaper than a repair. This is actually what I do, but I use a Drawmer. But I would actually recommend the Mackie at 1/3rd the price. Hope that helps!
My concern is how long will the hui drivers work with the constant updates made to PT and computers.. will avid atleast make controller drivers for the C24
I would avoid HUI in Pro Tools, as I had mentioned. The C24 does not use HUI, but rather an ethernet protocol proprietary to Pro Tools, which is so far, still supported. How much longer? Your guess is as good as mine, but my main rig (not the one I demonstrated with) is old. Pro Tools 8HD. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. I even have PT9 and I don't like the tradeoffs that happened. PT8 feels like the sweet spot for me. Super, super stable.
What version of ProTools are you running with this?
8.1 HD Accel. Sticking to it. Super stable and just perfect.
How does the C24 integrate with the most current version of PT????
I demonstrated it in a recent version on the M1 MacBook. It works the same as it always has but there are some limitations as I mentioned if you are not working in PTHD or HDX.
This is a really great controller. It is really ergonomic, and workflow fast. It is sad that AVID refuse to make it work natively with Silicon Macs ! A real Shame from AVID !
I'm using it on an M1 MacBook for this demonstration. The limitations I find are connected to HD systems working better, which I normally use PT8HD for audio Production. Is the M1 a Silicon machine cause I think it is. I could be wrong.
@@devon-graves-studio-DM1 is a silicon machine. The solution is to fun Pro Tools under Rosetta and you have the ethernet protocol. In native mode, you just have eucon protocol with do not recognize the c24.
@@WhiteCatStudio-recordingstudio Thanks! There might be a misunderstanding. My C/24 works both with my Mac Pro HD8 rig and my M1 Macbook. The only limitations with the M1 has to do with nthe HD requirement for many features.
@@devon-graves-studio-D and you open PT in native mode?
@@WhiteCatStudio-recordingstudio I don't know of any choice. The M1 version is from 2021, perpetual licence.
I've never understood why people use Pro Tools... until now.
Thganks for such a cool comment!
