Thats like nothing. 8k for creating the most popular shader and maintaining it. Distant Horizons probably took thousands of hours of development. I know you get money from making mods with curseforge but do you make money from mod packs? I published a mod pack and I have gotten nothing so. Also how does it pay you? PayPal? Direct deposit?
Pretty sure it's just rewards points. Once you get enough points you can redeem money, with a $5 minimum. I would assume PayPal would be one of the options but idk this is just what the one of the managers at curseforge told me when they reached out to me about switching my revenue to using their new curseforge rewards program. You shouldnt really get paid for using other peoples mods and putting them in a pack. It's pretty much theft 😅 unless you made the mods you used in the pack you shouldn't be paid a cent.
This for real, if you made a modpack it's not like you made all the mods in it, the mod makers should get the money and then a seperate amount for the modpack maker
Mod packs often take close too as long as mods to make, what with configuration, optimization and bug fixing. Most bigger mod packs also have custom mods in them to fix things. However, the main appeal of mod packs is not having to find your own mods that work well together.
Yea pretty crazy how this guy spent 10 minutes making a mod pack using mods that took other devs probably hundreds of hours to make but here he is making money off it. That $56 should have been spit and given to every mod that he stole from.
Just gonna swing in that your views to downloads are really skewed (probably due to the video, also a modpack, not a mod), and usually, it's the other way around. I have 4.2 million downloads and just 500k page views. So 5 times the page views, but 135 times the downloads (if my math doesn't suck) for the same amount of time. So all your estimates are probably overshooting the actual values by a lot. Edit: For example for Complementary, its less than 1/10 than your estimate, and thats with the recent increase of revenue on Modrinth.
I love how modrinth is transparent about its profit sharing with its creators. Hope more platforms are like this.
