  • We wish we learned how to do this earlier, we use garlic every day and this is the most helpful tip. It works every time as long as the garlic is ripe.
    All the best,
    Dave & Steve.

    I love this tip, I've been doing it for years. Also, store a jar of peeled garlic in the freezer, take out cloves as needed

    Martha Stewart showed this "hack" on one of her shows years ago, and I used it exactly once. This is not only a mess, it's exhausting and only partially works. Had I known all I had to do was stick a fork in each clove and simply pull it out (don't use a knife -- you don't need it and a fork is safer), I would have been doing that for the last 30 years. Much better hack!!!

    Since I prefer not to use so much garlic in one recipe, I just use a couple cloves at a time - I like to pull off a clove and then smash it with my wide bladed knife and the skin comes off at that point very easily. I learned this from watching a Mexican lady preparing a dish - it rocked my world at the time and I guess I'm still rockin'!

      I did not know that was a latin american technique hehe... In Colombia we also do it like that ;)

      That's how I do it too, just smush the little blighter lol or I just cut the skin of it down the length and unwrap it if I'm feeling dignified xD

      I'm now inspired to gradually increase my tolerance until I can munch on garlic as if it were almonds. Just nom on garlic cloves while watching TV.... #ChallengeAccepted #LifeGoals
      I'm kidding. Please don't do this for real. Like anything, too much garlic is toxic. Generally, you shouldn't exceed 20 grams (~7 cloves) of raw garlic daily. Also, please don't sue me. #DoseMakesThePoison

    How long will they keep for once unpeeled?

    • @thehappypear
      @thehappypear  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Once the whole garlic bulb is broken, individual cloves will last unpeeled for about 7-10 days at room temperature. Chopped garlic will usually stay good for about 5 to 7 days in the refrigerator and 10 to 12 months in the freezer. Hope that helps Danny! 😋🙌😄
