I'm actually curious, so any big HTF fans let me know what entries were new to you!
on the htf wiki on the merch place there are the only mondo flaky plush and pls add htf tf2 and a bit of jokes and ad more flaky stuff
One of the ones i didnt know is rocky
One of the things that was actually really interesting to me was in level 6 pop swearing. I was speechless when you read it. Because I was not expecting from the episode. To be a whole lot of love, let alone pop swearing to my favorite character handy.😂😂😂😂😂 That is just very freaking, funny.😂😂😂😂
the video bomb one ig
i didn't know that happy tree friends had a vhs released
Fun fact: this show was on Netflix for a short period of time in the for kids section
I came across it during that time 😭
I thought they would live in the end, so I kept watching until episode 2
That's how I found out it existed 😭

Correction: Male? Female? It's a rabbit, who cares
Also this quote is from FNAF World
fun fact: theres an unused storyboard for flippin' burgers where flippy kills the mole, it was scrapped due to flippy not killing impared or young characters
Huh, didn't know that
@@Obsessive_bluey_fan you can find it in the wiki for the episode, in the gallery you'll find the storyboards
more substance to the final claim can be seen in episodes like a vicious cycle, there flippy spares only cub
Yeah iirc it's because Fliqpy adheres to the soldier's code of honor which is why he spares flaky when she's having an allergic reaction and doesn't kill handy or cub. It wouldn't have made sense for him to kill a blind guy while sparing other disabled ppl
That may explain why he never killed Cub.
@@squeezeecheese8829he did amputate handys legs in the episode where he tried to get lumpy
11:32 Having an Sloth Character who is too slow to react to the dangerous situation have really great potential!
Like imagine Cuddles accidentally cut his hands off and Cooky have to slowly run to the first aid kit
Imagine an episode where Cooky winds up taking a fatal injury of some kind, but due to how slow he is, it takes him forever to actually die or really be bothered by it, leading to him just going about his day while everyone else would be either taken back by him being nonchalant about his injury, or wind up experiencing pratfalls either from him bleeding on surfaces or getting hit by whatever is lodged in him or something like that.
They could do a whole episode from his point of view, with everyone else going at ten million miles a second and him moving normally.
when cuddles and toothy talked, the voices reminded me of elmo and the shrimps from shark tale
Same here 😂
Lmfao
Y'know, Japan loving this shit makes way too much sense. They love cutesy style animes but also gorey animes, and combining cute and violent things even has its own aesthetic name - "Morute" = morbid + cute.
I love japanese people.

Seeing Disco Bear naked was THE LAST thing I expected when watching this iceberg (at least it was censored)
Of course it had to be Disco Bear! It's actually surprising he doesn't have mirrors above his bed.
And fun fact about that, it's a reference to a iconic image of Burt Reynolds laying on a bear rug. Which make sense bear rug disco bear, disco bear being very 1970s Burt Reynolds

whats a hippityhop doing here? youre supposed to be in msm or something🤣 /j
"I too will have a sip of my beverage!" -Cuddles, 2014
His classic catchphrase.
HE TOO WILL HAVE A SIP!
OF HIS BEVERAGE
I used to watch this show when i was 11 or 12 at the time on youtube and somehow got addicted to the fact that i watched every single free online episode of it. literally this cartoon had the scenario of your average animated cartoon for kids and that's what made me into it.
pretty sure lippy's whole leather balkin bit is supposed to be a parody of the leonard maltin intros you'd see on the walt disney treasures dvds
After checking, you are absolutely correct! It seems the HTF team wanted to parody Disney.
When I was a teenager, I was obsessed with HTF cuz I was fascinated with anatomy and gore. I used to draw it all the time. I think it actually helped me understand anatomy better, or at least made me think about it more.
Nowadays I've mellowed out a lot and I don't think gore in and of itself is all that funny, but I still respect HTF as one of the big early internet hits. And some of those shorts are still genuinely well made, just in terms of comedic timing, pacing, animation, etc.
One thing I wasn't really a fan of is how the gore got progressively more detailed, while everything else stayed super simplistic. Made it feel out of place. Like the gore was drawn by a different artist or something.
If you learned anatomy from HTF, when doing Brain surgery you open the ripcage. 🫁
Carpal Tunnel's music video is what actually got me into Fall Out Boy and, therefore, started my interest in music. I have HTF to thank for who I am now
Fun fact, if you look very closely to a character in one episode you can see a little bit of blood!! Crazy for such an innocent show!
This is the type of thing you can only learn from the experts.
Since the last one had to do with Cuddles and Toothy speaking, one honorable mention is Flaky singing ''Yellow submarine'' which can be found in the Voices of doom interview.
Fantastic research work, as a late fan to the series that started watching ever since 2003, there's things I did not know about at all, great video!
EDIT: There's also some interesting things that, as a really old fan I remember officially:
1.- HTF official forums/HTF social: Happy tree friends had an official forum for fans to congregate, in around 2006 it began it's course, and in 2009 the forum was changed to HTF social which was it's own version of Facebook, allowing you to make posts on your profile, upload images, etc etc.
2.- Mondonation: Mondonation is a still existing (Though defunct years ago) TH-cam channel where fans would submit their HTF fanworks and they'd be acknowledged by Mondo themselves, I was a part of it too! ^w^
3.- Streamy awards: The show was nominated once for the Best Animation in a Web Series, sadly it didn't win.
The HTF forum is where I found Burn After Reading! I wanted to represent the forums in some way and stumbled upon it.
@@PlayWarioLand4 Ooh I see, still, great work on the video overall, congrats for the good work c:
Flaky is an enby icon
Honorable mentien: wishy washy (reason: youtube removed it for depicting self harming/suicide)

ngl the writers went ALL OUT for that one episode 💀
This is a great video but the part abt flippys va is sliiiightly in accurate, originally flippy and fliqpy were both voiced by aubrey ankhum, however when he left flippy was recasted while fliqpy used archival footage
Would LOVE a video just about animation errors to be honest, I'm starved for Happy Tree Friends content
I might do just that at some point! Regardless, I have multiple HTF history/trivia videos planned. Clearly people want these kinds of HTF videos (like you said) so I am happy to fill that niche!
Finally, an iceberg that isn’t in Spanish/Español!
FRRRR
YO! I didn't expect to see you here but it's nice to know that your a HTF fan also!
@@BrooklynGuy2014 you are a htf fan? Wow!
As someone who was unfortunately (yet fortunately?) watched HTF as young as 5 yrs old, i am so oddly happy that there's still a community about this series 15 years later after my first exposure to the show! This was a pretty cool iceberg and I'm glad it was made
23:20 didn’t stop him from doing the box of chocolate
Ofcourse Japan was the country to get obsessed over HTF and make tons of merch for it.
Edit: I was an edgy teen when I discovered this show and it fueled so much of my creativity at the time, I still hold it dear to my heart and it still continues to inspire my art now :)
im so happy to find these kinds of htf “documentary” videos, i’ve always wanted to see discussion on the less popular side of htf
Great job on the video. I just assume that all of the characters (besides the baby) were adults.
It definitely changes from episode to episode. According to a series writer, they change the ages to fit whatever the story requires.
1:17
I love Flippy/Fliqpy, Emotionally, due to Truama... I kinda relate, outside of the killing, though I have lost myself from Disassociate, and been blamed for stuff I don't remember and Flippy is kinda Comforting for that fear
Something interesting is the first volume of the series on DVD had a special lenticular cover that changes the art from the default one of Cuddles about to stick a fork in the outlet to one which shows her being shocked. Also something minor is some countries like I think the Netherlands changes the outlet shape to fit that country.
I actually own the German release of First Blood with that lenticular cover! I plan on documenting all the HTF DVDs in a video after my collection is complete. The German release does in fact change the outlet design!
@@PlayWarioLand4 I've been wondering if that lenticular cover was exclusive to Germany as the only place I was able to get a copy from was Germany.
More importantly I wonder if any other country exclusive covers exists (not counting that Overkill DVD from France was it?)
Some regional releases are a bit modified to fit the country, but overall they keep the key artwork.
Thank you for feeding me I was so hungry I WAS SO HUNGRY
Here’s another one. Is A Sucker for Love one episode or a two parter? There’s an official release on the Mondomedia website that has it split into two parts. Part 1 ends with "to be continued" and both parts have their own separate morals in the credits.
However, when it was released to TH-cam, it was as one 6 minute episode for some reason. And this seems to be how most people perceive the episode as.
i did NOT need to see that picture of disco bear😭
As for someone who used to watch Happy Tree Friends back in 2010’s and in 2020, these bring back memories when I used to watch it back in days, and seeing those animals being killed brings back all the good times when I used to watch it
Another thing you could add is "Wishy Washy". Part 2 of the episode is the only HTF content blocked on TH-cam (it contains depiction of suicide). You know it's bad when it's the only episode youtube bothered removing.
My biggest slot for a list like this would have been the flippy/flipqy fangirls. This was a big thing on devaintart in the HTF fandom. Flippy was a popular character and so he had a hugh influc of fan girls with fan characters. Said characters were all girls, were or are in the military like flippy and the biggest, have ptsd just like Flippy. Lot of people were against a lot of these fan girls because: at minimalize PTSD, a lot of the girl characters were drawn with large breasts and curvy hips, that went against the original art style. Last, a lot of the fangirls were pretty aggressive about wanting the character for themselves.
I decided to only fit official things into the iceberg as getting into the fanbase would make this video easily twice as long.
flippy was baby's first "i can fix him" character 😭 this iceberg is awesome!
Fun fact: the mascot costume also appears in the music video of the song "Unlucky" by Kirby Krackle
Seriously, well done! Your research is quite impressive!
Even as a veteran of the series, some entries were completely new to me.
P. S.:
Latin America has some pretty interesting HTF trivia too, by the way.
There was an (apparently) officially licensed sticker album that was sold in Colombia, and that (supposedly) was marketed towards children.
Most places: HTF is not for kids
Colombia: Hey kids, wanna see some gutz?
That same official sticker album was sold in Chile as well...Right?
@@Clncu Apparently, yes.
I only know about this thanks to a Facebook group.
@@teh_supar_hackr The company that made the album (Salo S. A.) went bankrupt in 2010.
I guess that strategy didn't pay off. 😆
When I was 6, my 12-year-old cousin showed me the episode “Eyes Cold Lemonade” while I was renting out a computer. I will never forget that day because that’s the first time I actually got confused since I never saw anything violent before that. I became a fan afterwards and remembered showing it to my friends too.
My sincere apologies for a really long comment, but I absolutely love the Happy Tree Friends (HTF) video (as well as the History of the HTF bonus pack video), and I honestly would love the see the HTF related videos about the storyboards and the arcade/mobile games! I’m glad that this video exists because I thought that the HTF fans have basically covered everything about the franchise, yet I’m so glad that I’ve been proven wrong! Also, it would be fascinating if you make another HTF iceberg video since there are a lot more HTF facts than the ones that are mentioned in the video. It does sound like I would bite off more than I can chew when it comes to explaining facts, but I’ll list at least four of them here while I’ll try not the make the facts as long as I can;
• In the episode “By the seat of your pants”, the episode is presumably made for a young autistic fan named Max, who wants to see an episode of Fliqpy being killed since he was scared of Fliqpy. So, Max’s parents sent a note to MondoMedia before the episode got made. I’m not exactly sure on this sentence, but “By the seat of your own pants” eventually got controversy due to Lumpy killing Fliqpy, as a lot of HTF fans (probably) began to dislike/hate Lumpy at the time.
• There are 4 episodes where guns can be seen, it’s just that they’re not used to kill the characters and are mostly used as flares instead (the episodes are “By the seat of your own pants”, “A hard act to swallow”, “Snow place to go”, and “Ka-Pow’s Operation: Tiger Bomb”)
• There are a lot more HTF merchandise that has been made, yet they’re not really released outside of Japan (for instance, there are HTF related plushie keychains that aren’t easy to be found)
• The episode “Out on a limb” is inspired by an article that Ken Pontac read about a climber named Aron Ralston who got his arm stuck under a boulder and had to amputate that said arm before he walked to safety. Oddly enough, the episode got made before the movie “172 Hours” has been released SEVEN YEARS LATER.
If you’re still yearning to find more HTF related facts, I do recommend you to watch videos from Arbsilience! Arbsilience does have videos with his theories, but he also made videos of facts, merchandise and any topics about the HTF series, characters and the franchise. Nonetheless, Arbsilience also makes pretty good videos about HTF.
Thank you for the kind words! I will most certainly make more HTF history videos. Currently, I'm making a video that won a community poll, being a look at every HTF plush ever made. It's currently in the research phase and it's gonna be a pretty deep dive!
@@PlayWarioLand4 First of all, no problem! I can’t wait to see more of your entertaining & interesting HTF history videos! And second of all, if you’re puzzled or wondering about some parts of my comment, don’t worry too much about my typos on the comment yesterday. I do want to make a reply to fix my only two typos instead of accidentally leaving a little bit of misinformation that other people would see. If you still understand through the typos, feel free to stop reading here if you want! B)
Alright, for those who’re confused about some parts of the comment, I honestly meant “By the seat of your pants” (without the word own included), and the episode “Out on a limb” came out first before the movie “127 hours” got released, NOT “172 hours”.
Now that ive finished the iceburg, i now realize how much of a hyper fan i really was. I think the only ones i didnt know was maybe 3.
I remember when they tried to raise support for the show's return through a digital download stack that came with new episodes (at the time), background art you could scroll through, a new BTS of them making one of the new episodes, a few other things. I still own the entire digital download files.
Ive also gotten my fan oc made as a plush....my love for yhis show will never die...unlike ever character in HTF lol
your oc plushie might be lost media. Save it!
How did you get your oc made as a plush?? Was it a custom purchase or officially made?
I've been feeling a lot of nostalgia about HTF lately and your two videos gave me my fix. Honestly for such a popular series I'm surprised the creators didnt seem to capitalize a lot on it, theres few merch, theres few physical releases and the archives of it are very minimal also, but that just makes all the new stuff you find even more magical, the artbook bit made my collector heart tremble, i never imagined there would be one out there, but i do know about how much japan loves the series so i always imagined they got a ton of merch we dont get in the rest of the world
Thanks for the hard work ✌️
The show actually got a BUNCH of merch in America and across the world! It's just not well documented with info being scattered across various sources. My hope is to document as much of that as I can in a digestible way. According to the poll on my community tab, it seems that the next video will be about every HTF plush!
@@PlayWarioLand4 yeah I imagined in north america it would be different, but I'm from a country where we didn't get anything due to it being mostly an obscure internet thing (not to mention very infamous) but we did get the tv series and some of the shorts playing between commercials on MTV (with a bizarre LATAM dubbing work to translate the names of the episodes and completely botch the puns on them in the process)
Oh yes please talk about the plushies! I always said I would love to have toys of the cast, I'm looking forward to the next video!!
This video was amazingly put together!! Like you said, alot of htf icebergs are just theories and memes, so this was incredibly refreshing. There were also plenty of things I knew nothing about, I'm especially fascinated by the burn after reading and myspace entries. Tho, there is one interesting thing you did miss, that being the song Unlucky by Kirby Krackle, which is an official song specifically about the show, there's actually a music video for it on the mondo channel that shows a few clips of the mascot costume.
I actually intended to put Unlucky on the list, but I quite literally just forgot and didn't do it. Oh well, maybe I'll get a chance to mention it in a separate video. Thanks for the kind words! More to come.

This video was super well researched and well done! Great watch! Was happy to lend my music :)
Man THANK YOU for shedding light on this with such a high quality video! Its such a novelty to see something so throughout and constructive in the HTF community lol. The amount of research is really impressive, I honestly can't praise you enough for that.
and wow, HTF got some oddly obscure, unorthodox and ominous history that seem to be constantly buried underneath the barrel. For a show this popular, its very odd that nearly nobody was into HTF's history.
Wish to see more from you!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm hoping to fill the niche of informative deep dives on HTF. I have another video in the works voted on by my community about every HTF plush, and I plan to do more content about the show covering all sorts of areas of the show's history! Trust me, the amount of detail I cut from this video for the sake of clarity/conciseness is way more than you may think.
I used to be a huge fan of htf back in the day, and Its crazy how much of this information I remember, and new info I never heard about!
Im suprised that the cursed idol wasn't featured, as its secret appearances in some episodes is really cool to find, and the theories about its existence.
This was an awesome video! ❤
I hope that someday htf will have a comeback~
Kinda funny how the show rules can almost always be broken but the moment that the characters start speaking words everyone suddenly has to lock tf in like its a deadly emergency
when you guys started calling to beg mondo for the hd found bumpers, i said "and the FLA's"
Why do you want the FLA’s for?
@@YeomasBros.2008 flippy's assets or something
Something interesting regarding a few of the "arcade games" is that two of them are reskins of Ren and Stimpy flash games. HARE TRIGGER is a reskin of REN AND STIMPY'S CRAZY CANNON (pressing Space originally gave Stimpy a fart boost) and AIM TO FREEZE is a reskin of ROBIN HOEK. Interestingly, the credits for the ROBIN HOEK game mention a "Mondo Studios." Hmm...
Fascinating! I'll be sure to look into that when I cover every HTF game.
Not sure if this qualifies as iceberg material but years ago, at a Chuck E Cheeses, I saw that one of the prizes was some sort of HTF candy.
This blew my young mind away as I’d never seen HTF media or merch in the public domain. I remember there were four characters on the box. Cuddles was split in half (representing banana split), Nutty was sour (one of my step sisters bought his flavor cause he’s her favorite), I forget the other two characters and their flavors.
I can’t find any proof that this candy ever existed though. But I know I didn’t make that memory up.
Those are official! They released multiple HTF mints in the mid 2000s.
@@PlayWarioLand4 ahh so that’s the name. And it helped me find pictures. Thanks.
I unironically can go into so much detail about Flippy,Nutty, and Handy episodes because they r my favorite characters and I rewatch them a lot
Fun fact, the brazilian portuguese happy tree friends for the comedy central has a voice acting, with one of the characters as a narrator speaking portuguese
17:05 I agree with Russia. When I was a kid around 10, my friends used to watch this show and showed it to me and I was always disturbed and disgusted by it.
that stupid skype call at the end has actually made my day, it's so fking dumb but I can't help but love it
It's probably the single greatest piece of HTF media in the world.
At least this iceberg video is in English! Also Lumpy is most likely an Adult since he’s got a lot of jobs!
I'm surprised the controversial copyright guide video wasn't mentioned
Personally, I just purged it from my memory.
@@PlayWarioLand4 Yeah that'd be the best for all of us
I always thought Flaky was a boy, then discovered it's probably a girl, but nowadays I see this as a nonbinary representation in the show, which makes me happy. In the end they're all animals so it doesn't really matter
A happy tree friends game being published by Sega is pretty fitting since they once shared writers with Somic
Awesome video! Glad to see there was some entries on here i didnt know about.
I remember watching the tv series one because of youtube
I miss old youtube, when youtube wasn't censored.
7:34 And I hope to see Truffles as a main character

More to come! Seems my next video will be a shorter one about the plushies for the show!
That Sounds Interesting When Is It Releasing?
@@ChiefMcKai I'm only in the researching phase so I'm not sure how long the final video will be. I assume the video will be about 15 minutes at most, so maybe 2 weeks if I stick to it? Could change though, we'll see what happens.
Can't Wait For It To Drop
There is a archive of Giggles' my space account you find it on her wiki trivia page though I'm unsure if Lumpy's page was archived
This was a good video! this is my first time seeing you. a lot of the stuff did actually surprise me :)
24:23 Not really, Rocky's "purpose" was to slightly extent the episode's time length so It can be broadcast on G4TV.
I hope the show comes back one day
great editing and digging :D - went in expecting i'd know all of these, came out realizing nutty had a myspace page LOL
Loved the deep dive through and through, glad i could do my own little part too 🎉
Had a good laugh about about the storyboard stuff you should definitely make a video about them. This was such a good video
I think a Happy Tree Friends Movie was teased in 2014 or 2015 but was canceled due to not enough budget and the fact that you cant make a 90 minute film out of ruthlessly killing anthropomorphic cartoon animals
Yeah, basically. It was planned, had some brainstorming sessions, but never went anywhere. Considering the longest episode is only 14 minutes, I have no idea how you'd even get to the 30 minute mark.
that’s kind of what the south park imaginationland special is
the movie could've been about normal humans that end up causing a massive radiation disaster which mutates the animals into fragile anthropomorphic & the movie ends like a normal episode
once i went to Rasputins and I saw a Happy Tree Friends dvd (I watched it on Netflix because they like, actually had put it in the kids section at first lmaoo) and that's the only reason I remember watching the show apart from like when you finish something on Netflix it shows a like "Watch Next" or something and I seen one of Happy Tree Friends and I said "Hey! I like that show!" and my aunts (they watched it when it was popular) were all like "that show isnt for kids what the hell" and I was all like 'Oh ok then' and then thats the only other memory I have of the show. 2 very good childhood memories, shame I never got the DVD though. I still bring it up to my mom with a clear desire for that specific DVD who's case I do not remember anything but it either had like a landscape and then the yellow bunny on it or green and white stripes behind the bunny OR it was a curtain with some of the characters running around. These memories are also connected to the knowledge I watched it a lot but never watched Ka-Pow because of the very different artstyles
Holy shit this is long
I'd be curious which DVD you're thinking of.
@@PlayWarioLand4 maybe we will, I may remember later but for now nobody shall ever know! maybe my mom remembers but I'll ask tomorrow maybe I've been endlessly thinking about it since around the time the Friday Night Funkin' mod like the first popular Flippy mod came out!!! yay!!!
100K views!? Wowzers! Hope you reach 100k subs soon!
The HTF community might be more iceberg-worthy than the show itself. As you can imagine, it's attracted some real oddballs over the years. I remember being on the long-gone official forums (and later a refuge forum) in the mid-2000's at 13 and it was mostly misfit tweens modded by a few jaded high-schoolers, with the occasional actual (and often suspect) adult. Talk about the blind leading the blind. Also, apparently one user "bought/sold" another's HTF OC and then later became an award-winning journalistic photographer covering war events and such.
And yes, you can bet there were "my favrit karactr is flippy cuz he likes ta flip out on u LOL" and "u kno dat flakys a girl rite" discussions every single day.
the htf community also attracted weirdos that make "you know what"
Thank you for making this video!
Actually VHS fell off in the US around 2005/2006.
I watched the HTF TV episodes on Netflix. And I was a huge HTF fan from 2014-2018. Even bought a shirt (although its too short to wear now.) Most of the behind the scenes and exclusive things are new to me though! Good educational video!
I loved this iceburg! One thing I do wanna say is I think the Happy Tree Friends app which is still currently up, Deadeye Derby(?), should’ve been in the iceburg. I dont see much people talking abt it but I think it’d be a level 1 or level 2. And yes I learned some new things :)
As a htf fan from all the way back, im happy to have found your video~
I do have a Game currently in it's planning phase, HTF Horrors, which features a ton of Cameos all from other universes and also features Pretty Blood's Cast and everything, Which I have heard of on Scratch so, be on the lookout for updates
I would love to see an HTF animation errors video! Show me how observant and sharp-eyed you are!
If there's demand after my plush video, I might do that! There's been a good chunk of requests for a video about the show's storyboards and animation, so I could definitely have a segment about the errors.
woah, great icberg AND commentary, gj shokora!!
I’ve been slowly getting back into HTF due to the “lovely” nostalgia I had with this show as a kid, not even at Level 2 and I had NO idea that Flaky wasn’t a girl nor a male. I always thought they were female because of their voice and appearance, yet they don’t have the eyebrows as your mentioned. Didn’t think I’d learn something this quickly today!
The happy tree friends show is on crunchyroll!
Why are the critters somehow *less* understandable when properly speaking??
I'm not going mental am I?
as a htf fan i love this this is the best iceberg ive seen of the series
18:18 I got a copy of this book back in early 2018 from Amazon Japan and it was one of the last remaining stock by that time. I'm so glad that I managed to get this treasure before it's gone and this is actually my first and only HTF merch! ❤This year also marks the 25th anniversary of HTF and I really wish Mondo can re-release that book or upload something similar to this as rewards of their newly introduced memberships on their TH-cam channel!
27:47 I have a feeling this image would become lost media and people would use it as example of liminal space.
Looking at your other videos, it's really impressive how HTF still is such a phenomenon that it became your most viewed video to date! You should totally try to continue on that HTF path
I was surprised too! I didn't think some quick 8 minute video I made in a week would be the key to my channel finally gathering traction. I'm currently making another HTF history video right now, and it's going great!

Interesting fact about Japan loving Happy tree friends
They’re was lots of Touhou and Vocaloid Animations for it
Even YTPMVs these
I used to rock out on these until my parents told me to turn it down
Tell me I’m not the only one who knows those videos
yeah, even one of mondo media’s other channels “mondo nation” posted tons of fan suggested htf ytpmvs back in 2009
