Thanks for mentioning the dangers of using paracord with trees. This is the one place I've even seen it mentioned in regards to this piece of gear. Could you provide a video of how you'd modify it to use as a chair with live trees? I really want to buy this, but this issue is honestly my biggest concern (although I could just not use it as a chair)
Put 3 or 4 "deadmen" (short sticks) between the cord and the upper part of the branch to avoid a continuous area of pressure on the cambium. This is only necessary on smooth-barked trees, rough barked ones already have deadman equivalents.
It's the same material as their Hammocks, therefore should be rated to 500 pounds. Replacing the 550 cord with 750 cord (11 strand) is a cheaper alternative to using Dyneema.
