@@Lulu.2013.no you don’t. Put detergent powder in the pre wash section. People have been ignoring this for ages thanks to detergent pods which are worse since they don’t allow the pre wash unless you put powder in separately.
@@Lulu.2013. patently untrue. The heat at which a dishwasher sprays water is guaranteed to kill any bacteria, and the pressure the water is sprayed with is enough to knock off food particles. Use detergent, making sure to use the right amount, and not forgetting to add some to the pre-wash basin (or into the machine if you don’t have a pre-wash basin) and you will have no issues. Watch Technologyconnections videos on Dishwashers.
It’s also a myth that you use more water in a dishwasher than hand washing. A dishwasher tends to recycle the water for a long time, refilling only when switching from prewash to main wash. On average, a dishwasher can get by with as little as 2 to as much as 7 gallons of water for the whole cycle. A standard flow rate of 1.25 gallons per minute from the sink will use more water in just 7 minutes of run time than the dishwasher would for its entire cycle if it used its maximum water capacity.
The human skin just cannot handle the temps it requires to _actually_ sanitize dishes. You would burn your skin off if you tried to wash your dishes by hand in that water.

Dishwashers save water
My asian household also had the same mentality where washing dishes created “less lazy kids”, but I’m here to talk about how much water you’re using hand washing them compared to just using a dishwasher. A lot of people are also missing the fact that many people don’t wash dishes with hot water, which is what you’re supposed to do in order to remove more bacteria from the plates. I know some people have frights about bacteria in the dishwasher from the steam, but as long as you open the washer door when you’re done with the cycle and do a weekly cleaning cycle, you’re saving a lot from your water bill. 😂😂
And waste more plastic
It still boggles my mind that people don't wash things with hot water. Hotter temperatures help remove oils and fatty substances that no amount of sanitization will do. Really goes to show that just because you force kids to do something, it doesn't mean they'll learn from it.
The part about saving water is also very true. My dad always complains about wasting water, but he's the one creating a miniature bubble bath in the kitchen sink every night.
U cant winning argue bill with asian… and how about ur electric bill …. Dishwasher using tons of electricity and is not proven save water 😂😂😂😂
@@Foxy11123 A normal dishwasher uses about 1.8 kwh per cycle, which isn't all that much in the end. Also you use up to 27 gallons / 100 liters of water for hand washing dishes and only up to 10 gallons / 37 liters for dishwashers. some even go as low as 3 gallons / 11 liters.
We’re onto you Big Dishwasher.
It’s so crazy the misconceptions people have about dishwashers. They clean dishes better, reduce the bacteria count by a wide margin, and even save water.
Yeah but you gotta feed them, drop em off at school every day and they grow out of their clothes so quickly ...
@@wchenful not to mention its more fun making your kind of dishwasher 😂

"they clean dishes better" then why are half the dishes at my parents house always filthy covered with hard deposits of caked-on food when they come out of the dishwasher?
What washing by hand does better: Remove solids.
What dishwasher does better: Heat kills bacteria.
How to handle dishes like a god:
Scrub with soapy sponge, put straight in dishwasher, make dishwasher RINSE only, with hottest setting. Open dishwasher door when cycle done in 5 minutes. Steamy dishes dry spotless in 5 more minutes.
Best of both worlds, dont pay for overpriced dishwasher soap, dont pay electricity for 30 minute dishwashing cycle. Cleanest possible dishes, gentle on even delicate dishes.
@@uncletrashero To each their own, but scrubbing your dishes by hand AND loading them in the dishwasher just seems like a huge time drain to me. If your parents are getting dried on food bits, they could just try soaking them in a little water before loading them or loading them in the dishwasher as soon as they finish eating.
I moved into my sorority sister’s condo for my second year of college. She’s of Chinese descent, and it was a trip to hear her mix Cantonese and Southern slang on her phone calls with her mom. At her request, we sat down together in that first week to discuss pet peeves. She told me she wouldn’t be using the dishwasher because she found that hand-washing them was “therapeutic.” I replied, “okay, well…I’ll definitely be using it.” I think she lasted a good month, before finding that convenience outweighed the perceived “therapy.”
THIS! OMG. My husband was this person minus the therapy reason 😂 In our first apartment his reason was not believing it will do a good job. When we moved to our second place it had a Bosch dishwasher that was 10 years old. IT. IS. AWSM. I got a severe case of dyshydrotic eczema. Skin was literraly off my fingers. I was 90% disabled. I couldnt even run my fingers through my hair. Couldnt hold a spoon or a warm piece of toast no matter how many band aid, creams and gauze I applied. I told hubby I’m using the dishwasher now. Got some dishpods and have been using it since 3 years now without any issues.
I have a mild case of OCD where I cannot leave a single spoon dirty. I would wake up at 2 am to scrub spoons in the kitchen. I was also living in a joint family and was the dishwasher there. A relative of mine abused my kind side and would explode a bomb of dishes in the kitchen for me. My poor mother in law had to put up with that abuse for years that’s why I took over for her to give her a break during my month long visits. That was the time I developed eczema all over till my elbows. I remember wrapping my hands in plastic seran wrap, cloth and then putting on gloves to go to the dishes.

Dishwashers are actually better at cleaning dishes than hand washing, and they use less water and are still less wasteful counting the energy consumption. The only reason to hand wash is if you want it done fast, but other than that humans create so many micro abrasions and small fractures in our plates it's a miracle everyone in a first world country doesn't prefer them.
Because dishwashers suck 😅 and never throughly clean the dishes
They 100% do NOT do a better job, and while they use less water (because the rinse cycle reuses the dirtt water from the wash cycle, yuck) they have to use much stronger chemicals to replace the scrubbing action (thays why there is a seperate soap for dishwashers and they dont just use dish soap) so they are way worse for the environment.
I think they are fine for plates/bowls and silverwear if you run it immediately after eating. But then you are running the washer for what? 4 plates and 4 forks most nights? Not worth it. Pots and pans and cutting boards require thorough scrubbing the get clean.
Hand washing is a thousand times better and saves water. I just depends on how you do it and how often. Like I have a large bowl I put mine in with boiling water to clean (yes I use soap)
Just don't dish-wash cups with gold/metal decoration, nor wooden things (including knives with wooden handles), as it ruins them over time (with differences noticeable even after just like 2 washes).
Hand-washing won't _always_ cause more damage. Even for things that don't fall into those two categories. It depends how gentle you are.
For anyone whose parents don't believe in dishwashers, maybe this will help:
- they lower water bills versus washing by hand, especially if high efficiency, but old ones, too
- they kill more germs than washing by hand even when they leave bits because they reach a much higher temperature and skin holds a lot of bacteria
- they save you time to study for school, learn to cook, and practice your instrument 🤭
They won't protect delicate old china, but some new china uses processes that make the designs dishwasher safe. You can still wash delicates by hand. Best luck!!
Not gonna work on backwards and crude societies like 2nd World China. (Having three big cities with tofu dreg buildings surrounded by impoverished rural villages means they're not 1st world yet)
Issue is, they wouldn't listen long enough for those responses XD
Exactly. Dishwashers save water compared to washing by hand and make dishes far cleaner than you can with a dirty scrubbing brush. Anyone who thinks otherwise is plain ignorant and delusional.
My white parents don’t believe in dishwashers because we are renovating and “we’ll get a new kitchen soon, so there is no point.” ITS BEEN FIVE YEARS MUM WE MUST EMBRACE OUR LAZE AND GET A DISHWASHER
there is no loophole to save you my friend. Moms hold ALL the power in the family. Try and talk to Aunts Uncles, Grans Gramps, Cousins, whomever. Mom will just "reason" why YOU dont need it.
Hmm... maybe this, "Hey Mom, i thinks it time to get that dishwasher. We have the technology to have them done for us, think about ALL those chores Im NOT doing because my time is WASTED washing by hand"... Good luck ^_^
I'm a white guy, that owns a dishwasher, I still wash up manually, because frankly it's more convenient for me to do so and put the plate away rather than stick it in the dishwasher and let it pile up.
My housemates on the other hand use it liberally

As a white person, I can confirm that we had and used a dishwasher. But for a very long time, only the parents are allowed to use it. ❤
Thanks
But why though
@@bigboi9856 because there’s a lot of things you can’t put in a dishwasher that may appear like you should be able too. If a kid puts those things in the dishwasher without knowing this, the thing could be ruined and the parents would have to buy a new one. That and improperly using a dishwasher could break the dishwasher itself and that’s a very expensive fix/ replace.
@@johnnyrotten715 can’t u teach ur kid how to do both it’s not that hard
@@sukhroopdhadda2162 you can but children can just as easily forget every little thing that can and can’t be put in. Not only that but kids could also just not care because it doesn’t effect them in any way.
My Filipino mother would smile at their moms response. I remembered a similar conversation when I was young, but admittedly I prefer hand washing my dishes after moving out.
As an Asian, I’ve never used a dishwasher until I tried it one time in my 40s. Started out from once a week, now it’s once a day. Now I can say this is the one Chinese tradition I do not miss.
As a black person I too was not able to use the fully capable dishwasher 😭
Not all white people are like that. I grew up with a dishwasher but we still hand washed our dishes.
Did you grow up in the south?
Why would u torture urself like that. My parents were just ignorant about dishwashers
@@TheOnlyLadyBella yup Texas

Precisely my mom because we use our dishwasher to store pans and plates 😂
As a Filipino, some words I never thought I’d here from my parents mouth were “we need to fix the dishwasher” and we NEVER use the dishwasher, we ARE the dishwashers. I was absolutely stunned
Hugasan mo yung pingan
Im half filipino, and my filipino side uses dishwashers, idk wtf you are on about

But then again there are times where I do a horrible job at washing the dishes so...

@@sidekic1109no they meant that you should never call your kids the dishwasher 💀
Same with African immigrants AND African American families. It makes the water and or power bill too high. We wash dishes by hand and the dishwasher just stores clean dishes 💀
FOR ME TO 😂
Fair enough on the power bill but most modern dishwashers actually use a fair bit less water than if you cleaned the equivalent of a full load by hand. just thought I’d put that out there bc most people I think assume the opposite is true
It actually uses more water but I still prefer to clean by hand.
Feeling lucky with African parents that we got a dishwasher 😅. They still got us washing it by hand before putting it in tho
Dishwashers use way less water and typically less energy than hand washing. Only exception is if you use heated dry.
As a kid, I used my dishwashers 99% of the time. As an adult, I might run my dishwasher maybe once a year if even that. But I’m also a single guy so washing dishes by hand is more efficient and I simply trust it more. When my guests use my dishwasher I often some of the dishes by hand anyway 😂 People clearly have different dish-loading philosophies!
Dishwashers do save money and usually when you tell anybody that they'll change their minds really quickly. Changed my Italian father's mind 😂
Yeap. They save how much water is used as well.
Yeah but the parents will have children to wash them for free 😂
@@anthonyl_2032 the water used to wash the dishes by hand is more expensive then the amount of water a machine uses.
My Filipino mom was like this until she realized it was cheaper to load the dishwasher 😂
The mom in the show has some serious issues that never gets resolved.
Even when they are financially comfortable she doesn't like it and forces her family to live like they will be broke if they use the ac too much
Except when they were on vacation in a hot climate! Then she had the room so cold, they were wearing coats in the room! 😂🤣😂🤣
That's exactly how you stay financially comfortable. You know that fat kid is never going to deserve college, but the other two will need to go there. You have to teach them to hustle, in addition to saving money in case they fuck up. Also she needs to save money up for the fat kid who is going to fuck up multiple times and either head to an OD or hip hop $.
@@reedee5561 that's only because she wanted to maximise usage of the hotel given there's no extra charge for using ac too much. It's not because she wanted her kids to be comfortable
@@MrBen-zv1ip I know that but the real point is she made them uncomfortable because they were so cold!
Californians don’t believe in dishwashers either. We have to conserve energy as much as possible 😂
Indian American here and we use dishwasher. However, I do prewash and don’t just drop greasy plates in. This also means not much gets trapped by the dishwasher filter.
We have one friend who puts it without pre-rinse. And one friend who doesn’t use dishwasher and stores dishes like most Asians do. This is a boomer Asian thing in my opinion!
yeah, also indian american, pretty accurate

I'm a Pakistani Canadian and we never had a dishwasher in my house growing up. When i moved to a city 3 hours away from my parents for university, the rental unit came with a dishwasher. My parents said, that's good. Use it and it will save you time for your studies. This was nearly 10 years ago. I'm glad my parents weren't stubborn about stupid things
Pakistani young Mum here! So glad your parents did that. I’m going to be that same parent. I love my dishwasher and waiting for the day I’ll get the Roomba Vaccum 😂

I’m Philippine, and my parent told me that gay people gay
I also avoided using the dishwasher until one day I decided to try it out for a while and found that my water bill decreased so I've been using it since! Also I love the finish on glassware!
Note: you can put dishes in without pre-rinsing without worrying about the machine not being able to clean the solids.
Also, don't worry about your plumbing.
The only thing you must do is replace the drain hose once in a while. The drain hose is designed to catch all the hard fats that would otherwise ruin your plumbing, and not replacing it on time may result in the drain pump failing to clear the dishwasher, resulting in dirty dishes.
As a filipino, i personally believe that dishwashers can be pretty useful.
Not for everyday use, but for festivities and celebrations that hold many guests.
When the fiesta comes around or when it's noche buena, a lot of prople will come. And you know what that means? Lots and lots and lots if dishes to clean. Hence, why a dishwasher can be pretty handy.
Since I'm an Asian, I've literally never seen a dishwasher and genuinely believed that they only existed in tycoon games until I was 8
I found it so weird when I visited a crazy rich Asian friend in his mansion and he didn't even had a dishwasher. Even as a dirt poor student I needed one.
Black families did the same. I couldn't reach the sink, and my mom pulled up the kitchen chair for me. That got old quick. every place i move to had to have a dishwasher. Everybody in my house now loads and unloads the dishwasher.
it's because in Asia we don't use washing machines, even in rich neighborhoods it's just not a common thing. Rich people just hire people to wash the dishes lol
As an Indonesian, I already can hear what things my mom will shout at me if I buy her this machine, the horror
omg same, not even her, i'd probaby stare at the washed dish in horror. i have to clean it myself to know it's cleaned properly.
As an Asian, i always thought because of the population density....there is no enough room for dish washer.
Our kitchen is normally just one narrow aisle.
Korean here.
That's not a dishwasher. That's a dish holder/cabinet.
You put the dishes in there after you're done washing and drying. 😂
In my family we usually wash off the majority of the bigger food chucks and stains of first before letting the washer get the rest, just in case it can’t get everything.
Many people do this. I don't know wht. This is a waste of time of time and energy. Remove chunks of food, yes, but after that just throw them in dirty and they will come out clean.
