I love feeding our fishes it’s very relaxing, some will take a Krunchie out of my hand!
Even Luna our springer spaniel loves to watch the fish feed.
Great video very helpful information about how much and when and the different foods available. We all want to do the best for our pets and with a lot of different food available it can get confusing on what to feed.
The urns turned out great too!

I feed my fish. Two times a day. Morning and afternoon. Just a little tho. I enjoy watching them. So I only feed a little so I can do it too times a day. I only have 5 fish in my pond.

You should do a specific one on koi bud 👍

I feed mine 2/3 times during summer plus, hand feed them bread now & again. I have some large koi (9LB) so they can eat for fun plus plenty of smaller koi & goldfish. Also two large golden orfe ( 5 & 6 lb) they have a good appetite 😂

Thanks Mark, Question, i noticed different size fish, and on the packets it showed food for certain sizes fish, how do you decide on what size food you give them all !!

As a general rule, the bigger the pellet the better, however I feel the right food is more important.

Hi Mark. Thanks again for this. It’s really informative and has certainly answered some of the queries I’ve had since creating my pond. Can I ask what type of gravel is in the bottom of the pond in the video. The pond looks really natural and i would like to get a similar effect if possible. Thanks.

We use a number of different gravels, similar to our rock sizes, it’s important to use different sizes

Overfeeding only kills fish due to stress. Stress from poor water quality. It is impossible, for example to kill a fish by overfeeding it if it a 6" goldfish in a 50000000 litre ecosystem pond, even a whole bucket of food every 10 minutes. Conversely, a 15" koi could be over fed/killed in a small pond with no filter with just a of a few pellets.

Any problem with feeding my pond fish wet and dry dog food? It's a 5,000 gallon Pond full of bugs and other things for them to eat. I just supplement with dog food. The koi are still young. 3 to 6 inches. The Goldfish range from babies to adults.
Dirt bottom pond. No filtration. The water just overflows out when it rains heavy.

If you have a pond full of fish and you throw a little food in 14 times a day, I would think a lot of fish will go hungry. Not all of them would have a chance to get food when the bigger ones are most likely to get the food first.

It's in fact the opposite the small fish race around much quicker than the large girls. If the fish are the same size then it's not a problem. Also if you have a lot of fish then you put more food in. You can spread the food out so it's impossible for a few fish to get everything. You can feed up to 2% of the total body mass of the fish per day. If you have the right size filtration.
