Amazing how many guys are running 1968 to '72 Nova's. Light weight and a BIG monster engine. That's a kick ass combination.

Same here. I wouldn't want an SS though. If I got a good non SS specimen, I'd feel less shit swapping engineparts and putting my own personal touch on it. I currently have an 87 Iroc-Z which I'm either sell or trade for one hopefully.

The 72 Nova SS has been my dream car for decades -- and this one is the color I wanted (except I wanted the metallic paint). I'painted a mural of one in my dorm room at Chanute AFB back in the late 70's. It may take me until I'm 94, but one day I'm gonna' have that Nova, "soup it up" as we said in the 70's, race it, rack up speeding tickets, outrun any high performance car out there today and be known as the nutty old woman with the Nova with the headers, overhead cam engine, racing slicks who lived out her dream. I did have a 71 Chevelle Malibu in the early 80's. She had cancer (rust) really bad (my co-worker sold her to me for a buck), needed way too many repairs for my budget at the time. I have many model and hotwheel Novas now. One day... yeah one day, we'll both have our dream Novas Titus!!

I envy you. You had some of the greatest cars ever made. The pony- and musclecars of the 1960s and the early 1970s are awesome. (You guys in the USA had "small" and big block V8s at a time we in Europa were still proud of our small 6 cylinder engines.)

SpacePuppies26 You mean like going out in the old days and buying a Plymouth Max Wedge 413, Cobra Jet Mustang, 396/375 Nova, Chevy Biscayne 409 or a Pontiac GTO? BTW, I don't own any modern muscle, my built Nova can handle a Wildcat Dodge Charger. Most of that, to be fair is my cars weight advantage of half a ton. We live in a great time for fast street cars, it's like reliving to golden era of classic muscle cars, but with all the added safety and convenience/handling of a modern car. I like them both, but I prefer to get my hands dirty and twist the wrench on the old ones. Thank goodness you can still buy a fast car from the dealer, for those without the time or skill to build one.

@@409novaman I agree. Back in the day, people modified their cars for racing and learned the skills of driving their uniquely created 'beast'. Now, anyone with a thick wallet can buy a computerized high performance car, which most likely, you cannot tinker with due to the design. Dang, I remember watching my brothers and dad swapping out all kinds of parts on their cars. Can't do that now -- even if you can get to the parts, you might upset the computer 😂😂
Nova has a very nice wheel base for drag racing and throw in a big block with twin turbo or pro charger and you have a mean combo
You can take all the speed and I’ll still want the rumble and loose bolts.
Best part is that Nova probably has 200 less HP than that hellcat.

At 7:20......all I can ask is, "how fast is that little Blue Chevy that turns in 11.49 @ 99MPH?" Seems like he let off the gas pretty early to secure the win, an 11.49 and a MPH usually seen in a car running slower than 14.0 flat.
Well most of the new cars did win and I say nine out of 10 were supercharged or else they'd be back in the 13s
The new cars are dodge hellcats, everyone knows those are supercharged from factory.

The old ones lose because of the weight.
The old timers didn’t win, but they put in respectable showings. The new cars were purpose built with big budgets. I have never understood El Caminos as muscle cars. Too light in the rear for any traction.
Cleetus McFarland's El Camino runs 6s. That debunks your theory. It's about suspension setup to transfer weight to the rear. Most of these Novas probably have less weight on the rear than an El Camino. That's a long thicker guage steel bed.

You realise the old ones are highly modded and have probably 300+hp more than what they had stock? Running new engines, big superchargers, massive drag radials, barely driveable on road. The new cars have a minor mods and can be easily driven every damn day.

@@GH-el9ch Who the fuck needs a supercharger to a Mopar in the first place? Only whiney pussies use them. I own a 75 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400, it doesn't have any exaust system now. All it has is the exaust manifold and it revs like a monster. Before it had 450 horsepower, now it has 510 horses. Only using a Edelbrock 1406 Carb 600 cfm.
