Met these guys last night at the Madeira Beach Recreation Center, Old Sal Fishing Tournament meeting, and after a brief tutorial, and three tries, I took my credit card out and bought their 10ft heavy net. It is the best casting method I've seen and tried!
Finally! A video that made sense to me. Just bought my first large net, and while everyone else has been throwing pancakes, I was out there throwing scrambled egg and omelets 🤦♂️. Not anymore though!
With a little practice this method works even better if you place the the first third over your elbow instead of the shoulder. Now when you throw the net you kick the elbow up and will get a full open on the net . Also this method allows you to choke up on the net if your throwing over a rail or in a tight place . I'm 5ft 6 140lbs . I use this style on all my nets . 7 to 12 ft . It the only style I used for 15 years .🤠
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I’ve been practicing different techniques for the past two days and this is the easiest one to comprehend and execute. I threw a nice pancake on the first try 👍🏽
this is awesome and clean! I would like to add a suggestion for a more in-depth explanation on, hand placement and distance of each other before the swing, then what motion or exactly are you doing with each hand. That's one thing cast net tutorials hardly EVER do. I just learned the triple load myself but with the on my elbow vs the shoulder, I shall try the shoulder (I'm still trying to perfect it for pancake throws everytime vs 70% of the time. Definitely more of a messier wet way, especially if you're shrimping inshore with muddy water. Great video!
Nice video and great technique! I myself actually prefer to throw with my teeth and just a small piece on my shoulder. I get a lot less wet and dirty since I'm not holding so much net on my body, and I can reload it a lot quicker. I will say though I'm only throwing a 10 footer, triple load is probably easier to throw the bigger net and get it all the way open if your trying to learn. But sometimes reloading and getting the net out there quicker gets ya more bait then taking the time to load, clear, throw perfectly each time in my experience.
I am newish to the large castnet/triple load technique.... I was wondering, how come most people suggests if you are a righty to load this in your left hand? I tried that and was throwing bananas all day... loaded the net in my right hand and throwing pancakes was much easier. I’m a righty... am I weird? Lol. Great video though!
Now THAT was a good video on HOW TO THROW A CAST NET. That's how I throw my 13ft net every time. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Dude, been throwing the net “grip it and rip it” style for 25 years and this technique has changed the way I throw. Thanks my man!!
This is the best vid on TH-cam. 👍

What size mesh do you recommend for Tampa Bay greenbacks?
2 nets are needed for TB a 1/4 inch after the hatch and 3/8 thereafter

Would have like to have seen the result of her throw instead of a replay of his throw. But it’s a great technique, been using it for years.
Nvm, looked at it again, it is her throw, looks darn good! My bad.
