- Our FIRST 24 hours in Jakarta was a *FAIL*.
Welcome to Indonesia, and welcome to Jakarta!
We've finally arrived in Indonesia and have been waiting to explore this beautiful country for such a long time!
Admittedly, we were hoping for much more with this first video, but it just all seemed to be against us today - we had no idea of any of the ongoing events at the time, so were shocked when we realised, but we have a great video in store for you all next week.
So make sure you're subscribed as you wont want to miss it!
Much love,
Jacob and Emma

From the 27th to the 29th, please come to Lombok Indonesia, there will be GP motorbike racing in Lombok, there are also many very beautiful tourist attractions.
I'm touched that Malaydesh really enjoyed your video in Jakarta. 😊
Love Malaydesh ❤
What's the need to try and cause arguments in our comments? Also remember that I (Jacob) am half Malaysian myself, so when you insult Malaysia, it is also insulting me. If you want to comment go ahead, if it's to be toxic, please don't comment next time 👍
@@DisappearforDays It's funny because many Malaysians have bad comments on this video :)
come on, their country already wants to be a developed country, but many people spread bad comments.. Without realizing that many of their ancestors were of 🇮🇩 descent.
Haha I have many friends and relatives from Malaysia ❤️, don't worry sis, but I was a little surprised to see such outrageous bad comments. Lol
This insult can only be done by brother and sister, Indonesia and Malaysia are brothers FYI. Jacob you know that right wkwk
@@DisappearforDays Don't be too rude in responding, and your response is also bad, why don't I need to comment if it is related to my country? you don't respond to bad comments from Malaysians.
You are immature as a content creator.
I expected that once you have Malaysian followers, and when you travel to Indonesia, Malaysians will insult Indonesia lol
Konoha🇵🇱😆😂
The people of indonesia and Malaysia might look the same in term of the appearance. But they’re very different in many ways. Maybe you can spot the differences after a few days there. Have fun!
Thank you, we had so much fun in Indonesia 😁
Indonesia is unique. We’re a multicultural society, which means we keep our cultures separate. Each one has its own traditions, language, and way of life. That's why you’ll see things like the Bajaj here (we call it "tugtug" in Indonesia, but it’s originally from India). Think of Indonesia like Europe, where countries like Italy, France, and Germany all have their own government and language, but they’re still part of the larger continent. Jakarta is just one of those regions. We’ve got the Sultanate in Yogyakarta, a culture in Bali that's very Indian-like, an Arabian-influenced society in Aceh, and so on. If you’ve been to the Philippines, you’ll notice parts of Sulawesi feel quite similar.
This diversity translates into our language, food, and everything else. But honestly, if you visit Jakarta, I’d say there’s not a ton to see besides the food, nightlife, and shopping. There’s a beach at PIK, but it’s pretty underwhelming. Jakarta is where all the cultures mix, which is why it’s the only place where everyone speaks Indonesian. Go a bit outside the city and you’ll hear Sundanese spoken instead.
When it comes to nightlife, Jakarta takes the crown. H Club in SCBD is the biggest nightclub in all of Asia. We also have other clubs that rank in the top 10, but H Club ranks first. And if you like shopping, Jakarta is packed with malls. There’s Pacific Place, Mall Kelapa Gading, Pondok Indah Mall, Central Park, Grand Indonesia, and even malls with aquariums and ice skating rinks!
For food, you’ll find a lot of restaurants with names like “Makassar,” “Padang,” or “Manado,” which refer to the regions the food comes from. Generic restaurants might not taste as authentic, kinda like an Italian restaurant trying to serve burgers, croissants, and pasta all at once. There are also live seafood spots like Sentosa or Bandar Jakarta, where you can pick your fish straight from the aquarium for them to cook.
So if you’re after food, nightlife, and shopping, Jakarta has plenty, even if the food isn’t always as good as in its original regions. For sightseeing, though, you’re better off heading outside Jakarta. Nearby places like Bogor are a good start. If you’re into batik or historical sites, Yogyakarta, Solo, and Central Java are great options. Jakarta is more of a showcase-a preview of what Indonesia has to offer. It might not be as intense as the real deal, but it gives you a taste.
Stay safe, and I hope this clears things up for you!
Thank you so much for the detail provided! We loved Jakarta, but not as much as some of the other places we visited! You'll have to keep an eye out for where we head next in Indonesia. But we loved the country, it was so beautiful and the people were so kind and friendly ❤️🇮🇩
Are you still in Jakarta? If you are still in Jakarta, go to TAMAN MINI INDONESIA INDAH (TMII). At worst case, you will see different traditional architecture from various ethnic in Indonesia. If you are lucky, you may see some performances. It would help you decide which Indonesia provinces you'll visit next. "Taman Mini" means small garden/miniature park.
Oh really? We have left already unfortunately, but it gives us a good reason to head back at least ☺️❤️🇮🇩
In jakarta you should visit Kota Tua (old town jakarta), Pantjoran PIK, Aloha Beach PIK, Ancol (amusement park), SCBD, GBK Stadium, Blok M (japanese town, because have a lot of japanese retaurant), Istiqlal Mosque, Cathedral Catolic Church.
We have left Jakarta already unfortunately, but it gives us good reason to head back. Thanks for the advice! ❤️
I saw some negative comments about Indonesia from anonymous accounts. And I'm not surprised about that, and I already know where they come from. My advice to you, visit cultural and historical places in Indonesia, learn about our history and culture. Then you will see the authenticity of it. Have a good adventure ! 💪

@@DisappearforDays It's really good. If you are still in Jakarta, come to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). Very nice and friendly people in Indonesia. I just feel that they have not seen enough westerners in Jakarta for the way they snap photos with you guys. I can't imagine the same scenario in KL.
We think so too, I think when people think of Indonesia, they just think of Bali, and therefore, there aren't too many people in parts like Jakarta. It's really sad to see, but it was so nice and fun to be welcomed by such friendly locals. 😊

Konoha🇵🇱😆😂
Despite what you called it as a fail, hope that you guys have had a reasonably good time and a pleasant stay in Jakarta.
I beg to differ. KL is definitely different from Jakarta. I've only been to the city a couple of times in the 1980s when my dad was a diplomat. It was a bitter sweet memories because my mom passed away in Jakarta, her body was brought home to Kuantan for burial. I only saw her once in Jakarta during a semester break from UITM JO PJ. Jakarta is a very big city. Do you guys know that Indonesia has a new capital, Nusantara in Kalimantan, Borneo. 😀
I'm sorry to hear the memories Jakarta brings back for you. We had no clue there was a second capital! But Jakarta was a good stay in the end, you'll find out in the coming weeks! 😀
@@DisappearforDays Thank you for your sympathy and empathy. Yes, Jakarta has recently built a new administrative capital, like Putrajaya for Malaysia. They call it Nusantara and it's located in Kalimantan, Borneo, the only island in the world that is shared by three countries, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. They celebrated their national day recently in Nusantara, but it looked like it was exclusive, just for the President and people representatives, it didn't look like Putrajaya where the Malaysian were able to celebrate together watching the parade. 😀
@@DisappearforDays By the way, forgot to mention to you, after the demise of my mom, about a year after that my dad met a local lady and got married and for the past few decades, I have a stepmom from Jakarta and few relatives from her side of the family in Jakarta. My stepmom survived cancer few years ago unlike my mom who passed away by cancer in her 40s. My dad, also passed away by cancer few years ago in his 80s. Oh well, that's life, and life goes on. 😀
Starting today South East Asia especially Indonesia is entering rainy season ... there will be many hard rain and Jakarta sometimes getting flooded, so be careful there

They always like Europeans, they call them Bule, meaning Europeans who have reddish white skin, blue eyes, blonde hair, beautiful like Barbies. Therefore, they like to take photos together😊.
Oh really! Emma fits that bill perfectly 😂 Maybe me not so much which is why they didn't want any with me 🥲😂
That's true😅, and it has become a culture of Indonesian people to like seeing Bule. Especially children because they usually have beautiful Barbie dolls that look like Emma.

Indonesia prioritizes natural tourism over urban tourism, and Jakarta is no longer the capital of Indonesia because Indonesia has made a new capital in East Kalimantan. Natural tourism in Indonesia that has international standards such as BALI, LOMBOK, IJEN CRATER, MOUNT BROMO, SUMBA, MOUNT RINJANI, LABOAN BAJU, KOMODO ISLAND, LOVINA, TUMPAK SEWU WATERFALL
We loved some of the nature sights whilst in Indonesia, more to come soon! 😀👀
As a Malaysian , I am envy of the quality of side walk and road in Jakarta. I mean they are clean, well design , wheel chair friendly, with proper engineering standard and comes with green buffer. Unlike the one in Malaysia which is often comes as an after thought, narrow, inappriopriate slope and steps, bad workmanship and full of barriers.
We definitely agree for some parts of Malaysia. But there were other parts on Indonesia with not such great paving also. I guess Indonesia is really trying to modernise Jakarta, so they'll start there, then maybe expand to the other major towns/cities ☺️❤️🇲🇾🇮🇩
@@DisappearforDaysi dont think that guy is real malaysian..most likely indonesian pretending to be malaysian.. indonesian side walk better than malaysian?? Like seriously?

Fyi, Indonesia is the strongest country in Southeast Asia. Their national team is the only one Southeast Asian country to reach round 3 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. My Indonesian buddy informed me that there is a stall selling an excellent Curry Puff in Jakarta's Cikini Train Station. It is known as "Pastel" in Bahasa Indonesia. I've never tried that, but if you're in the neighborhood, you might want to look into it. You might want to look at "Rumah Makan Karya Sinar Bundo" for Masakan Padang. It is a small local restaurant at Jalan Kebun Kacang Raya (behind Ascott Jakarta). I rated the local cuisine there 11/10 and totally hidden gem in Jakarta. Jakarta is heaven for local foods. I believe Emma will enjoy cookies, they use a good butter and my fav. shop -> The Harvest Cakes-Tamrin at Jalan K.H Wahid Hasyim. Have a safe journey as the monsoon season is coming to SEA.
