    00:18 - Improving MIDI behavior
    1:37 - Automate track color by instrument
    5:23 - Saving most commonly used FX chains
    6:30 - Stretching audio with or without pitch properties
    8:43 - Creating multiple sends in one click

    Just to expand on tip number three, once you have saved your fx chain, add it to a new track then save that track (armed with monitoring turned on) as a track template so that you can load that track template in with it already armed and set up ready to go fx and all :-).

    I really enjoy watching these tips that you put out. Not just because it helps me to better use Reaper which is far better than my previous DAW, but I am learning a lot about mixing and producing as I consider myself a raw novice. You keep dealing them and I'll keep gratefully playing them. Thanks for making them.

    Very new to Reaper, seasoned in other DAWs. Your channel gives me very valuable information. Appreciated a lot!!! And I must say, having used Cubase, Sonar, Pro Tools and recently Studio One (favourite so far, but for how long?) I am increasingly enthusiastic about Reaper!

      You might want to look at installing a theme that "emulates" Logic. There's numerous ones. It might make your transition easier.
      You can find them here: stash.reaper.fm/tag/Themes

    Thank you so much! You have no idea how helpful these were, and 4 out of 5 of these things were particular problems or inconveniences I was hoping there'd be a solution for! (Even if someone can glean one good tip from such a concise and succinct video, 4 out of 5 is huge!)
    Tip 1. You have no idea how many times I locked up Reaper and even had to sometimes reboot my old laptop due to this exceptionally annoying thing of going to open a midi item, and forgetting that a lot of items were selected!
    Tip 3. Save FX chain is huge and something I never knew, especially since I stack lots of FX on each track and then keep them a certain way. Until now I've been relying on my 'template' to save under a new project name, transferring those same settings over to. If I wanted to change a sound and reapply it to all things, I'd dread the task of having to go back and manually change each effect, even if they were saved as my own custom presets, I'd still have to go through each and select them! This is HUGE!
    Tip 4. I knew there was a way to do something like what Alt-Drag does, but didn't know where to find it. And I would get lost whenever I'd try to find it through keyword search on google, as so many other complex things would think I was asking about some other desired action.
    Tip 5. And finally, just last week I was thinking how much better it would be if I could send a bunch of tracks to one receiving track as a single action, instead of doing it manually to each!
    And while color (Tip 2) doesn't matter too much to myself, I'm sure it helps others. But these 4 were things I've always thought would make things so much better if there was a way to change or do! I'm so glad I decided to watch this video! Thanks for putting it together and going to start watching the rest of your Reaper Power Tip videos now :D

    Another tip with regards to true collaboration: MusicCollaboration - www.mucol.ch
    A couple of Reaper-scripts allow from a "main-project" to generate instrument specific subprojects which can be shared over any of the available cloud-services (such as google-drive, OneDrive, iCloud or Dropbox). The subprojects can be used for recording or practicing independantly from all other project participants. The recordings made in all subprojects and the main-project can be synchronized using plugin-independant backtracks so that everyone involved has the latest work results availalbe to them.

    is there an item function which allows mixed meter(ie 3/4 time against 4/4 time. I assume to fit 3's into a 4 context you have to reassign BPM to accommodate one given time signature. )

    What do you think about double-tracking clean guitars and solos?

    • @ReapertvUk

      Depends on the sound you're after, but I've done both and can get some great effects. Just need to be tight in your playing to get clean results. :0)

    regarding tip #4, I wonder if it's possible to change clip length but also change pitch indipendently?
    I can only guess in such case it would be most convenient to drag clip length maintaining pitch coherence, and then use some vst plugin to alter the pitch?

    • @GreenDaddy69

    • @Fezzler61
      @Fezzler61 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I knew you would. Cubase Pro 8.5 tempo detection is not too bad. This is one function I struggle with. I do covers. So I drag an MP3 or wave version of a song on a "Reference" Track and them attempt Tempo detection so I can program my drums and lay my base down accurately.

    • @danielmconnolly7

      It should work if you save your changes before you close the project. Also, after I make changes to my settings, I periodically go to Edit/Project Settings/Save Project Settings as Default. Hopefully that will work for you.

  • @FreshBagelz

    For coloring the tracks, how do you apply the color scheme to a whole bus? For example your Drum bus is completely red despite the fact that none of the drums in the bus have the word "drums" in it.

    • @ReapertvUk
      @ReapertvUk  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretty much dependant on the theme you're using. Some themes will fully colour the various panels, others may apply only minimal colouring. I'm pretty sure that in this video it's Default Comalla 4.
