YES!! Curious, would you list out your guitar journey? Trying to see how people have come to where they are, as I’m beginning my journey with a long way to go. Doing Paul David’s stuff now
Good question! I think I started learning the stuff I wanted to learn first.. songs, fun easy stuff etc… then techniques and more the technical stuff 80s shred.. then maturing into more melodic stuff.. groove.. jazz, funk, fusion and then really got my head around intervals (the fretboard, not the band! Ha) and started playing through space rather than trying to fill it… Best thing I did though was try and learn as many genres as possible!! But enjoy the process as there is no ‘end’ make lots of mistakes and transcribe from your fav players :)
Thanks for taking the time to reply! I’m starting to get back into the acoustic first and wanting to learn fingerpicking styles before I move onto buying an electric and learning the rock/blues flatpicking stuff.

Im scared doing that wild bending on the high E string because i break almost all the time i try And you did a great job and you nailed the solo and the guitar tone sub👍❤️
Wow, this might be the best cover I have seen of this solo. I have a Suhr just like that and a Kemper too, now I just need skills 😂. May I ask what pickups you use?
James Davies That model has had a few different pickups in them from the factory I believe. Mine has v60lp’s and an SSV in the bridge. They are not high output pickups, so I was wondering if I was gonna be able to get a tone like yours with them
This just popped up in my feed again, and it’s still the best version of that solo that I have ever heard. Do you remeber which kemper profile you used for it?
Thank you! I think off the top of my head it was a mess boogie model by Michael Britt from his pack! I can’t remember the exact one but all of his are amazing!
Could be just an eq thing.. I have distortion on (quite a bit) but taken a bit off the top end.. so probably appears less harsh/distorted than it seems :)
Perfect cover! Btw is that a Suhr Classic Pro? I'm considering one but not sure how the SSV bridge humbucker is. Is it good enough for high gain metal/Prog music?
@@jamesdaviesguitar thanks for the reply! Last thing I would ask: do you feel like the square heel neck joint limits the playability? How difficult is the upper fret access (although you appear to have no trouble there!)

Same tone as John Petrucci's Ibanez, I played this solo through before arthritis wrecked my hands. You Sir nailed it beautifully!!! Kudos and Bravo!!!
