- I've been driving some miles trying to find a fat cow. I'm told that it's still to early for my home waters on the Hudson. The two plus hour drives are all a blur because I'm blinded by the striper bug thats bit me. I want to thank all my subscribers for y'all's comments and support! Have to admit - I had a "tinge" of concern when the first got off, but then seeing how fast you got hit again screamed "Feeding Frenzy". I have a question, Where were you able to launch? Were there fees for parking or anything?
I live in the by the Hudson River by Tappan zee... When you think is the prime time to get out there
honestly buddy I couldn't tell you. This is my second season chasing stripers. I just go out there in hopes of catching something. Based off of what the bait shops tell me, May is the prime time for my area in Newburgh. So i'd imagine that the same should hold true for your area of the Hudson. Good luck out there! The fat girls should be here within the week.

using 20 lb power pro on the spinning reel with a 20 lb suffix mono leader. Using 10 lb power pro on the conventional with a 20 lb suffix mono leader.
wow. Definitely takes skill to bring one in on 20lbs! Waiting for these guys to come threw the Delaware river where we live in NJ. Would you suggest I use more pound test to land one from shore??

Most definitely, there's a lot of debris in the water that you have to deal with from the bank. In the kayak I don't have much to worry about so I can get away with the smaller size line.
