This really brought me a whole new perspective to the saying “Money doesn’t buy happiness.” When he was in the Uber and told the guy, “I play video games for a living, I’m a pro player” it was like it didn’t even matter. He’s just a normal guy. This is my first time watching someone that I know is filthy rich walk around. And in these moments it truly didn’t matter at all how much money he had. It really hit hard that no matter how much money you have, how many material possessions you have, it’s not going to bring you permanent happiness. It’s something more, your energy, your beliefs, your relationships, how much fun you have, etc. That’s what really brings happiness.
There is no "permanent happiness" though, alright so lets say you go to the Caribbean and you're filthy rich, okay you can sit in the sun drinking margueritas for a couple of hours right?how about the next day, same thing? okay, how about the day after that, same thing? how long until you get tired and leave, then what? Get what I mean? happiness is momentary. Satisfaction from the things you do is what keeps you going, it doesn't matter how much money he has, you're right in the fact that your experiences can make you happy, but you can't just live off of experiences. The more competent you are to society and people = the more satisfied you feel in life (and notice I said satisfied there, not happy).
