You right, is not small, but Bleach has a lot of characters (anime). Only considering key characters in the Soul Society arc, the amount surpass the whole Demon Slayer seasons as whole. And fans have different taste, lesson learned from twitter. Didn't expect to have fanbases of a singular character like that. No complaining tho, i'm glad that we are getting a game
it depends on what you think small roster is, i expect arround 30-40 characters which is medium to pretty big roster imo. i dont want the roster to be big but filled with filler characters (i dont mean characters from filler, but more like unimportant characters)
No bro, those kind of games who has lots of characters to use, such as Naruto, should use them. Maybe not all but most of them, and still people play it with leftovers and that made the fandom get used to a poor roster. For this game at minimum 50 characters.
My only thing with this is Sparking is right there and people are getting bored of the game even with the huge roster. Instead of more characters, I think we should be asking for more content like actual game modes and stuff because 9/10 most players are not going to touch majority of the roster lol. Also how the roster going, the majority of the characters from these arcs are in the game or going to be in.

Ultimate ninja storm 1 had 25 characters. Heat the soul started with like 5 characters and kept adding more with each new game, and you already mentioned the roster of one heroes justice and hinokami chronicles. Most arena fighters start with a small roster, dragon ball it's the only exception because it’s the biggest anime franchise in the world, and most characters aren't that different from one another Bleach rebirth of souls has shown us that every character has a gimmick or unique play style and that's only something that I have seen before with kill la kill if, which had a really short amount of characters and even then it was the best arena fighter I have ever played Big rosters only matter to the casual audience when it's an actual fighting game, an arena fighter with a known IP will only appeal to the fans of that ip or other anime fighter fans, if someone isn't a fan of boku no hero then why would they buy one heroes justice? 35 characters is a good start. It is more than what I was expecting tbh
They said there are like 30+ characters and from the gameplay footage most of them will have pretty interesting mechanics... ppl will find a meta anyways and the competitive scene will be stuck in that meta. I just want more characters cause it's fun to play as a vizard, yoruichi (plot reasons), fkn aizen or even VASTO LORDE imagine playing as ichigo vasto lorde, that shit will be epic
The benefits of smaller rosters extend beyond just balance, it allows the developers to give each character a unique and fun moveset that reflects their character and source material, if you're a fan of bleach this is a good thing. If you want a bigger roster, you would have to sacrifice the current high quality and uniqueness we're seeing in the characters. Games get limited budgets and development time, the bigger the roster the less money and time you can devote to any individual character, and the lower the quality will be for that character. Not to mention 30+ characters isn't small for a base roster, a small roster would be like demon slayer, this is nearly double that. Games like ultimate ninja storm build up to the big roster size they have over several games, the first game had a roster size of 30-40, just like rebirth of souls.
You can have big rosters with no depth or smaller rosters that have depth. This hits the right mix in my opinion. 30-35 characters is a pretty big roster especially considering how unique the characters are. I’m super duper pleased with the roster
The small roster isn't really about balance it's about uniqueness if you compare characters from sparking zero and once justice once justice has so many unique movesets while almost every character in sparking feels the same and to me making characters unique is more important if every character feels the same I would get bored because they all feels the same. You say casual fans want a bug roster but they also want every character to feel different it's one of the biggest complaints anime games get. I will say that demon slayers roster was very embarrassing that's way too small especially because most of them still feel the same. To me the once justice games strikes the perfect balance in size and uniqueness. I personally want a medium size roster but for me medium is between 30 and 45. I 'm still pist at how pathetic the sf6 roster is for no reason. I'm also no competitive player so balance isn't a big deal as long as I'm not punished for playing my favorites (I'm looking at you sparking zero) than I'm happy non of that accurate power scaling bull crap for me.

Kill La Kill doesn't have as many characters. Bleach is covering a lot of the story these other anime games that have small rosters only do because they are covering like 1 season of the anime.
I disagree. This game could have 100 characters but that would mean they would play very similar and players would get bored fast. Similar to Sparking Zero. 30 DIFFERENT characters is the sweet spot imo
not really , bcoz every bleach character has very very different shikai's / bankais ! so it will not be similar at all ( as a bleach fan i want to see all characters 1 day ) , my favorite is in roaster already ( Tousen )

There has never been a first entry anime game with a huge roster. Every game that has one has built it over multiple sequels. The original Storm had 25 and the first Tenkaichi had 64 (a lot were pasted and copied movesets so really only about half that number) and One Piece Pirate Warriors had 13. A 30-35 roster is beyond fine for a new series, especially if the characters have unique movesets.

Can you define “small”? And do you really just want another subpar game with hollow characters? Imo this comes down to how much you can do with characters. Depth…. Depth is what ppl want. Not just a throw away game ppl play for two weeks and not really care anymore. It had to entertain both bleach fans and ppl who want a good fighter… there are sone of us who want both and who don’t buy anything just because im a fan of the series. I’ve been duped too many times by games that become repetitive because they are hollow and baited me with series i liked. Im not like that. I want quality…. QUALITY Also stop bringing up Sparking …. It is a copy and paste sequel from a long line of sequels.
My favorite character is Kensei and I absolutely know I got screwed and am heart broken because this game looks incredible. I’m still going to get it and play the fuck out of it- even if my boy isn’t there to play 😭
I want a full roster. I love Bleach series. I used to play Bleach Brave Souls, a gacha game. I had to summon a ton for the characters I want from the released banners. just to get to play them. That was such a painful experience. Up until now, there is no Bleach games on the market that can really bring the players the satisfaction that they are looking for. Bleach Rebirth of Souls seems to be the one. Therefore, it should include as many characters as possible.
30+ characters is not a small roster in a fighting game where the characters are this unique. It is way more than what you typically get in the first game in a fighting game series. It should also easily be enough to get the vast majority of fan favourite characters in the arcs covered and the rest will be DLC.
I think 35 to 40 characters on release is a good number and quickly come out with the first dlc. I dont think we will see TYBW characters release until the 4th part is complete but honestly most of the populaf characters have been released, dont you think? Also what does Spirit Drive do?!?
To be honest, I bought the last one, but time seems short for revelations if they keep 1 character per Monday, if the characters are lacking, swords and captains are missing, I'll refund it, for a game that promises to go to the end of the saga Arrankar, having to pay DLC for a character that should be in the base rooster will be disappointing.
You can have 50 to 100 characters in a game but if they all play similar to each other it's lazy and garbage. I'll take quality over quantity any fucking day.
Bigger roster would be ideal but depends on cost because there is always a trade off. Bigger roster means taking that development time away from something else...just a question of whats important especially for a new game where they cant build off of or take from previous games everything from scratch, and especially from an IP that has done poorly in the past(soul resurrection) is it worth the investment for such a risk to a bleach fan, yes to a company potentially lossing millions maybe not. Your fist line is that people would get bored with a small roster but that can also be said of big roster but everyone is just a skin and plays the same. Just a matter of hitting the sweet spot in the middle. And you can't use that this is bleach and has so many big and important characters, while true it won't change budgets or development deadlines. So again depends on which evil you want a whole bunch of characters that play the same or a few characters that feel like the characters from the show. (Keeping in mind this is already a big roster compared to other initial rosters from other games)
The exclussion of tybwa is weird to me, the thing is 3 seasons deep already and has a BUNCH of characters, no way we are getting all the sternritter, the new versions of the captains and squad 0 on the dlc, that would be like 15 years of season pass lmao

U should play a game if it’s fun and if this game doesn’t have depth it won’t impress people and no one will care about it about in a month. So I don’t think a huge roster is what this game needs to succeed. I’m not saying this game need to be super competitive but a competitive scene for sure will grow this game way more than fans just deciding to pick it up because it’s bleach with all the characters they like. it should be evident im not gonna force myself to play a game if i dont enjoy it. i like dbz, but im not forcing myself to play every dbz game. the mobile games are boring to me
the reason why sparking zero ended up like sparking zero (almost no variety amongst characters) isn't solely because of its massive roster. It's because the mass majority of DB characters literally only have ki blast based moves and dont really have a nuanced skillset/abilites such as compared to the characters in Bleach, as well as the game not being designed that way. You can totally include more characters into RoS without sacrificing unique character playstyles purely because of how the devs want the fighting mechanics of this game to be as well as the vastly unique abilities that Bleach characters have.

They are perfect, because it has all Naruto characters with different abilities. And Bandai did it, then why can't Bandai repeat the same with this Bleach game? It's stupid
I’d say with this game. A medium sized roster is probably what’ll work the best. Both when you consider the most popular characters from pre Fullbring, and considering we could always get more characters in a sequel game too.
Soul resureccion had a small roster but was missing core characters; Shiinji, kisuke, Yamamoto etc. A small roster could work but they have to get all the right characters in order to tell a cohesive story.

I think it’s looking to be a decently sized roster, but there are notable characters like Orihime, Ikkaku, Yumichika and Hisagi, etc. who don’t seem to be playable (as of now at least) that have the popularity and enough abilities shown to justify them a slot. There’s still DLC on day 1 to fill in the gaps to keep in mind as well. Some of the Vizards seem like good DLC material.

I expect almost every Captain, most lieutenants, and the most popular Visords and Arrancars with abilities that make for interesting gameplay. Anything less of that will disappoint me
Is not a bad idea, if the mechanics of each character is different from each other like a Street fighter game, but in a game where the combo mechanics of each character doesn't varie much is than it is a bad idea to have a small roster, I hope this game has a decent amount of characters, give me all the captains and the 10 espadas and I'm good (u can keep out zomari and aroniero), and some lieutenants and and some non espadas characters, and it's all good.
I'd rather have a HUGE roster, ala Sparking Zero which has all the fun characters and their fun interactions in it which I love about that series and the Bleach series. I don't mind if they kinda play the same because these characters no matter what WILL have different moves/abilities which makes them not play the same and it's fun to see what characters say what in their intros and outros. I know I put FighterZ down real quick because I was getting bored of the small roster and very short story which I didn't even finish because it was pretty much the same, which is bad since I play games for the story and characters first and I still put the game down. It may have added a bunch of characters since it's Day 1 release but no story or anything so I still haven't played the game again unlike games like Kakarot, Sparking Zero, or the Ultimate Ninja Storm games which I play over and over again due to their story and character interactions. The story looks to be more in depth which I like and I hope it has all the important characters in it up to the final battle with Aizen, yes even Orihime who has the full spectrum of abilities, attack, defense, and healing so I don't see why she wouldn't be a character. Even have some joke characters in there for fun like Kon and Don Kanoji lol Anyway, all we can do is wait and see. It's still weird how we haven't gotten much of the Arrancar arc showed off story wise like we have the Soul Society. Bandai Namco, get on that.
30-40 characters is easily all you need for Bleach. Ichigo, Uryu, Chad is 3 and Gotei 13 gets you around 20+ when you remove the useless non fighters and add Vizards that matter. Then you add some Arrancars that matter like Ulquiorra, and Grimjow maybe, Stark and Harribel to get to around 30. Then at that point I'm struggling to find anyone worth including that isn't Yhawch or his top dudes. Half of the dudes in Bleach are fraud jobbers that no one would really miss if they're gone. If you go beyond 35 you're probably inlcuding some characters that have never broken top 20 in the official character popularity polls. Bleach fans really would not care, the characters people liked in Bleach was established long ago in the Soul Society arc and after that we only got a few from each arcs that fans really liked. Bleach is actually a shonen series you can get away with having 30 characters. It's not like Dragon Ball that has a lot of fan favorites that still get skipped in Sparking Zero.

Im sorry . I am tired of hollow, wasteful games that try to sell to me but just tossing in characters and using the series to bait me. I get really bored when there isn’t depth and the game play feels the same between characters. Anime community has gotten so used to low quality, high roster games that ppl throw away after a week because companies know you are easy and will buy anything with your favorite characters on it.
12 captains(Unohana at base cant be playable) , 1 visored, 10 Espada, 5 lieutenants, 2 from Urahara shop = 30 characters for those who said 30 will be fine you can't expect anybody but these main character
Totally agree. For first time games of a series such as Demon slayer and MHA games, I totally understand a 16-20ish character roster because it doesnt cover much of the source material. Please correct me if im wrong but iirc, Himokami chronicles covers 65ish/205 chapters of the entire manga and has 31 characters (DLCs and variations included), and One's justice covers around 120ish/430 chapters of the manga and has 23 characters including dlc, and One's Justice 2 containing 40 base characters with 11 DLC characters totalling 51 characters and that game covers 165ish/430 chapters. Not to mention that Soul Ignition seems like it covers the final half of the arrancar saga but in reality it really only covers a handful of major fights whilst skipping everything else in between to which I'd estimate (I havent examined the numbers) that the game really only covers less than 20% of the manga and that has 21 characters. For RoS to be covering 423 chapters/686 and only having 35ish base roster with 4 DLC characters isn't really doing the game itself and fans justice imo. Tl;dr Himokami chronicles game covers 32% of the manga and has 31 characters One's justice covers 28% of the manga and has 23 characters One's justice 2 covers 38% of the manga and has 51 characters Bleach Soul Ignition covers >20% of the manga and has 21 characters So for RoS to cover 62% of the manga and only have 35ish base roster sounds a ridiculously underwhelming imo.
I disagree, a well-designed roster is better than filling the game with characters that no one cares about. RoS has a normal roster for a first franchise game, Naruto Storm had a roster of about 20 to 25 characters.
There are already most of the fan favorites in the game and they'll probably add the most important characters too so i wouldn't worry about that and if people want massive roster that plays the same that means they just want a boring game RoS will have most beloves characters and every single one is gonna be unique that is definitely better than what ninja storm or sparking offers
Personally I'm totally ok with this roster we're getting. We have to keep in mind their prioritizing popular characters because they know their gonna be picked many times. Having a huge roster is cool yes but even as huge bleach fan I would never pick, let's say, Cirucci, Dordoni, Zommari or even Orihime more than once because, you know, I'm more attracted in the more popular characters! Finally, having a small roster always gives room for expansions with DLC and sequels. Just look at where the first storm game started and where it got in the end with connections. This strategy works well in my opinion, plus is not that easy to think of a character, animate it, give it a moveset and balance it considering all the other characters in a short time.
you not really understanding his point the storm games kinda a bad option to look at because Bleach ROS is covering is vol 1-48 which was adapted more than a decade ago while storm was dropping games while the anime was going on look at storm 3 for instance it never even had the fight with sasuke vs itachi originally it got added to the game as dlc after the fight came out in the anime back in 2013 so they deadass have no excuse not to have 40+ playable characters for ROS since this game is not a traditional fighter IMO

I would never play as Tessai, Achi or Don Kanonji more than once just to try them because there are just way cooler characters to use. I never even played once as Frieza Soldier or Saybayaman in SZ and they took out way cooler characters like Demon king piccolo or Super C17 to put those trash characters!

You can have a big roster and it can be balanced You can also have a small roster and be broken And be balanced vise versa so ill always die on bigger=better because even if the game is whether your a try hard fgc guy or not youll eventually get better at the game and you won't have to worry about getting bored seeing the same characters over and over (Unless the same characters are broken which can be a problem) But then again you can have a small roster and a see the same broken character over and over again because regardless if its big or small people will play the broken character Thats why i dont understand why people say smaller roster is better I mean look at Tekken 7 it used to have a small itty bitty roster but the dlcs are what gave us the characters like shinobi strikers and tekken 7 im pretty sure we'll get a bigger roster in the future so regardless of the fact the roster wont be small forever
Which characters are we really missing that are REALLY IMPORTANT? Kyoraku, Komamura, Ukitake, Ikkaku, Yumichika, Momo, Hisagi, Szayel, Nnoitra, Halibel, Barragan, Coyote, Yammy, Dangai Ichigo. Anyone else either is too unimportant or can be DLC later on, Unohana especially is dlc bait.

People in comments really didn't get the message 😅. There are people out there, that genuinly watches an anime, read a manga or play a game only for their favourite character. The problem with Bleach is that he has a lot of characters, and many fan favourites. 40, 45, 50 seems reasonable. The content is already there, moves are already there. Not counting the competitive scene, from a casual pov, seeing a medium size of characters, just attracts more people. He just saying a logical thought. Like i said in another comment, i'm glad that we are getting the game, and my favourites are already there

Which character do you think i'm intending. Non gag character, no filler characters, no stretch characters. Stretch characters = some of the sidekicks of espada, Ganju, Kaien, Yumichika, Hanataro, Tessai and others. These type of characters will appear in cutscene, definitely not playable. But at least other characters that apperead, had some fight, a shikai + bankai or equivalent power up, and a full moveset. Currently i think they announced 22 characters. We're still missing some captain, most of the espada. With adding characters i mean like Ikkaku, some lieutant, some vizards 👀
This game is going to release in the 30-35 range, having a smaller roster is always going to be better for balancing purposes like the devs have hinted at. Bleach fans will pick this game up for the story, finish it play a lil bit of pvp for the first half of its life span and move on. Clearly Bandai want this to have a live service model so it will always be better to cater to the comp audience who will stick with the game. If your favourite is left out then sorry that’s the way things go🤷🏿♂️, you can’t include everyone because the budget isn’t infinite just look over at tekken (huge roster but still missing fan favourites).
This isn't true. Most casual fans just want to play their favorite character, NOT the amount of characters. Also some of the most popular fighting games have had super small character selections, at least at the start. When I played Naruto UNS I didn't touch 95% of the rooster and I am FAAAAAAAAAAAR from a competitive player. GGS = 12 SSBM = 26 DBFZ = 24 BROS already has more than all of them.
Casual fans are the first people playing the game, and the first people to drop the game as well. Look at how hard DB Sparking Zero's player base fell off, and it's ALL casual fans. Respectfully, the kind of people that prioritize a lot of characters care more about the novelty of playing their favorite character, over playing a good game, and that is why the fgc you so casually insulted is right about smaller rosters. A lot of characters means generic characters, and ironically unbalanced gameplay. The DB Sparking Zero grand finals fiasco is a perfect example of why a well thought out game with a small roster of 20-25 with dlc added is better than a 200 character roster where you can play with meaningless characters like Rin Tsubokura just to appeal to "casual" players 😂
50-60 is insane like that was never happening. tenkaichi 1 had 64 characters but that was with everyone playing the same. If the characters fight more uniquely than dragonball characters do you gotta lower that number significantly. But i disagree that 30-35 is enough too. This game does not look good enough to get away with that few characters. 45 characters is a perfect number to sell itself on having a massive roster alone. No need to look too hard at the fact most of the gameplay is spamming normal attacks. A little less than 45 would be acceptable too. But 50 is pushing it way too far. Maybe if the game had a terrible, minimal story mode it could be possible. But it looks like the story mode is pretty fleshed out so yeah no way it could ever go above the 40s. Also this game don't even look like it will reach 30 characters at this point. They keep missing out weeks and not doing double drops to make up for them.
4 character drops for the first year. I wouldn't count on DLC if i was you. It's 10 weeks until release so they have enough time to give us a medium size roster without sacrificing variety across characters and these last moveset trailers have been proof of that. Only thing that worries me a little is hiyori being part of shinjis kit which kinda gives us an idea of where the devs priorities are in terms of character selection.

My only thing with this is Sparking is right there and people are getting bored of the game even with the huge roster. Instead of more characters, I think we should be asking for more content like actual game modes and stuff because 9/10 most players are not going to touch majority of the roster lol. Also how the roster going, the majority of the characters from these arcs are in the game or going to be in.

Ultimate ninja storm 1 had 25 characters. Heat the soul started with like 5 characters and kept adding more with each new game, and you already mentioned the roster of one heroes justice and hinokami chronicles. Most arena fighters start with a small roster, dragon ball it's the only exception because it’s the biggest anime franchise in the world, and most characters aren't that different from one another
Bleach rebirth of souls has shown us that every character has a gimmick or unique play style and that's only something that I have seen before with kill la kill if, which had a really short amount of characters and even then it was the best arena fighter I have ever played
Big rosters only matter to the casual audience when it's an actual fighting game, an arena fighter with a known IP will only appeal to the fans of that ip or other anime fighter fans, if someone isn't a fan of boku no hero then why would they buy one heroes justice?

Small rosters doesn't always mean balanced you can have a small roster and at least 4 broken characters
The benefits of smaller rosters extend beyond just balance, it allows the developers to give each character a unique and fun moveset that reflects their character and source material, if you're a fan of bleach this is a good thing. If you want a bigger roster, you would have to sacrifice the current high quality and uniqueness we're seeing in the characters. Games get limited budgets and development time, the bigger the roster the less money and time you can devote to any individual character, and the lower the quality will be for that character.
Not to mention 30+ characters isn't small for a base roster, a small roster would be like demon slayer, this is nearly double that. Games like ultimate ninja storm build up to the big roster size they have over several games, the first game had a roster size of 30-40, just like rebirth of souls.

You can have big rosters with no depth or smaller rosters that have depth. This hits the right mix in my opinion. 30-35 characters is a pretty big roster especially considering how unique the characters are. I’m super duper pleased with the roster
The small roster isn't really about balance it's about uniqueness if you compare characters from sparking zero and once justice once justice has so many unique movesets while almost every character in sparking feels the same and to me making characters unique is more important if every character feels the same I would get bored because they all feels the same. You say casual fans want a bug roster but they also want every character to feel different it's one of the biggest complaints anime games get. I will say that demon slayers roster was very embarrassing that's way too small especially because most of them still feel the same. To me the once justice games strikes the perfect balance in size and uniqueness. I personally want a medium size roster but for me medium is between 30 and 45. I 'm still pist at how pathetic the sf6 roster is for no reason. I'm also no competitive player so balance isn't a big deal as long as I'm not punished for playing my favorites (I'm looking at you sparking zero) than I'm happy non of that accurate power scaling bull crap for me.

Already said my peace in the comments but on the point of roster size keep in mind storm 1 had 25 characters with less unique mechanics.
There has never been a first entry anime game with a huge roster. Every game that has one has built it over multiple sequels. The original Storm had 25 and the first Tenkaichi had 64 (a lot were pasted and copied movesets so really only about half that number) and One Piece Pirate Warriors had 13. A 30-35 roster is beyond fine for a new series, especially if the characters have unique movesets.

I want a full roster. I love Bleach series. I used to play Bleach Brave Souls, a gacha game. I had to summon a ton for the characters I want from the released banners. just to get to play them. That was such a painful experience. Up until now, there is no Bleach games on the market that can really bring the players the satisfaction that they are looking for. Bleach Rebirth of Souls seems to be the one. Therefore, it should include as many characters as possible.

30+ characters is not a small roster in a fighting game where the characters are this unique. It is way more than what you typically get in the first game in a fighting game series.
It should also easily be enough to get the vast majority of fan favourite characters in the arcs covered and the rest will be DLC.
I think 35 to 40 characters on release is a good number and quickly come out with the first dlc. I dont think we will see TYBW characters release until the 4th part is complete but honestly most of the populaf characters have been released, dont you think? Also what does Spirit Drive do?!?
To be honest, I bought the last one, but time seems short for revelations if they keep 1 character per Monday, if the characters are lacking, swords and captains are missing, I'll refund it, for a game that promises to go to the end of the saga Arrankar, having to pay DLC for a character that should be in the base rooster will be disappointing.

Bigger roster would be ideal but depends on cost because there is always a trade off. Bigger roster means taking that development time away from something else...just a question of whats important especially for a new game where they cant build off of or take from previous games everything from scratch, and especially from an IP that has done poorly in the past(soul resurrection) is it worth the investment for such a risk to a bleach fan, yes to a company potentially lossing millions maybe not. Your fist line is that people would get bored with a small roster but that can also be said of big roster but everyone is just a skin and plays the same. Just a matter of hitting the sweet spot in the middle. And you can't use that this is bleach and has so many big and important characters, while true it won't change budgets or development deadlines. So again depends on which evil you want a whole bunch of characters that play the same or a few characters that feel like the characters from the show. (Keeping in mind this is already a big roster compared to other initial rosters from other games)
The exclussion of tybwa is weird to me, the thing is 3 seasons deep already and has a BUNCH of characters, no way we are getting all the sternritter, the new versions of the captains and squad 0 on the dlc, that would be like 15 years of season pass lmao

the reason why sparking zero ended up like sparking zero (almost no variety amongst characters) isn't solely because of its massive roster. It's because the mass majority of DB characters literally only have ki blast based moves and dont really have a nuanced skillset/abilites such as compared to the characters in Bleach, as well as the game not being designed that way. You can totally include more characters into RoS without sacrificing unique character playstyles purely because of how the devs want the fighting mechanics of this game to be as well as the vastly unique abilities that Bleach characters have.

I’d say with this game. A medium sized roster is probably what’ll work the best. Both when you consider the most popular characters from pre Fullbring, and considering we could always get more characters in a sequel game too.
Soul resureccion had a small roster but was missing core characters; Shiinji, kisuke, Yamamoto etc. A small roster could work but they have to get all the right characters in order to tell a cohesive story.

I think it’s looking to be a decently sized roster, but there are notable characters like Orihime, Ikkaku, Yumichika and Hisagi, etc. who don’t seem to be playable (as of now at least) that have the popularity and enough abilities shown to justify them a slot.
There’s still DLC on day 1 to fill in the gaps to keep in mind as well. Some of the Vizards seem like good DLC material.
I feel like Hisagi and Ikkaku are making it it. Yumichika too. I want Orihime to be there but it is wierd she's the only one out of the group left

Is not a bad idea, if the mechanics of each character is different from each other like a Street fighter game, but in a game where the combo mechanics of each character doesn't varie much is than it is a bad idea to have a small roster, I hope this game has a decent amount of characters, give me all the captains and the 10 espadas and I'm good (u can keep out zomari and aroniero), and some lieutenants and and some non espadas characters, and it's all good.
I'd rather have a HUGE roster, ala Sparking Zero which has all the fun characters and their fun interactions in it which I love about that series and the Bleach series. I don't mind if they kinda play the same because these characters no matter what WILL have different moves/abilities which makes them not play the same and it's fun to see what characters say what in their intros and outros.
I know I put FighterZ down real quick because I was getting bored of the small roster and very short story which I didn't even finish because it was pretty much the same, which is bad since I play games for the story and characters first and I still put the game down. It may have added a bunch of characters since it's Day 1 release but no story or anything so I still haven't played the game again unlike games like Kakarot, Sparking Zero, or the Ultimate Ninja Storm games which I play over and over again due to their story and character interactions.
The story looks to be more in depth which I like and I hope it has all the important characters in it up to the final battle with Aizen, yes even Orihime who has the full spectrum of abilities, attack, defense, and healing so I don't see why she wouldn't be a character. Even have some joke characters in there for fun like Kon and Don Kanoji lol
Anyway, all we can do is wait and see. It's still weird how we haven't gotten much of the Arrancar arc showed off story wise like we have the Soul Society. Bandai Namco, get on that.
30-40 characters is easily all you need for Bleach. Ichigo, Uryu, Chad is 3 and Gotei 13 gets you around 20+ when you remove the useless non fighters and add Vizards that matter. Then you add some Arrancars that matter like Ulquiorra, and Grimjow maybe, Stark and Harribel to get to around 30. Then at that point I'm struggling to find anyone worth including that isn't Yhawch or his top dudes. Half of the dudes in Bleach are fraud jobbers that no one would really miss if they're gone. If you go beyond 35 you're probably inlcuding some characters that have never broken top 20 in the official character popularity polls. Bleach fans really would not care, the characters people liked in Bleach was established long ago in the Soul Society arc and after that we only got a few from each arcs that fans really liked. Bleach is actually a shonen series you can get away with having 30 characters. It's not like Dragon Ball that has a lot of fan favorites that still get skipped in Sparking Zero.

I get really bored when there isn’t depth and the game play feels the same between characters. Anime community has gotten so used to low quality, high roster games that ppl throw away after a week because companies know you are easy and will buy anything with your favorite characters on it.

Totally agree. For first time games of a series such as Demon slayer and MHA games, I totally understand a 16-20ish character roster because it doesnt cover much of the source material. Please correct me if im wrong but iirc, Himokami chronicles covers 65ish/205 chapters of the entire manga and has 31 characters (DLCs and variations included), and One's justice covers around 120ish/430 chapters of the manga and has 23 characters including dlc, and One's Justice 2 containing 40 base characters with 11 DLC characters totalling 51 characters and that game covers 165ish/430 chapters. Not to mention that Soul Ignition seems like it covers the final half of the arrancar saga but in reality it really only covers a handful of major fights whilst skipping everything else in between to which I'd estimate (I havent examined the numbers) that the game really only covers less than 20% of the manga and that has 21 characters.
For RoS to be covering 423 chapters/686 and only having 35ish base roster with 4 DLC characters isn't really doing the game itself and fans justice imo.

Himokami chronicles game covers 32% of the manga and has 31 characters
One's justice covers 28% of the manga and has 23 characters
One's justice 2 covers 38% of the manga and has 51 characters
Bleach Soul Ignition covers >20% of the manga and has 21 characters
So for RoS to cover 62% of the manga and only have 35ish base roster sounds a ridiculously underwhelming imo.

RoS has a normal roster for a first franchise game, Naruto Storm had a roster of about 20 to 25 characters.

Personally I'm totally ok with this roster we're getting. We have to keep in mind their prioritizing popular characters because they know their gonna be picked many times.
Having a huge roster is cool yes but even as huge bleach fan I would never pick, let's say, Cirucci, Dordoni, Zommari or even Orihime more than once because, you know, I'm more attracted in the more popular characters!
Finally, having a small roster always gives room for expansions with DLC and sequels. Just look at where the first storm game started and where it got in the end with connections. This strategy works well in my opinion, plus is not that easy to think of a character, animate it, give it a moveset and balance it considering all the other characters in a short time.
you not really understanding his point the storm games kinda a bad option to look at because Bleach ROS is covering is vol 1-48 which was adapted more than a decade ago while storm was dropping games while the anime was going on look at storm 3 for instance it never even had the fight with sasuke vs itachi originally it got added to the game as dlc after the fight came out in the anime back in 2013 so they deadass have no excuse not to have 40+ playable characters for ROS since this game is not a traditional fighter IMO

I would never play as Tessai, Achi or Don Kanonji more than once just to try them because there are just way cooler characters to use. I never even played once as Frieza Soldier or Saybayaman in SZ and they took out way cooler characters like Demon king piccolo or Super C17 to put those trash characters!

And be balanced vise versa so ill always die on bigger=better because even if the game is whether your a try hard fgc guy or not youll eventually get better at the game and you won't have to worry about getting bored seeing the same characters over and over

Which characters are we really missing that are REALLY IMPORTANT? Kyoraku, Komamura, Ukitake, Ikkaku, Yumichika, Momo, Hisagi, Szayel, Nnoitra, Halibel, Barragan, Coyote, Yammy, Dangai Ichigo. Anyone else either is too unimportant or can be DLC later on, Unohana especially is dlc bait.

But at least other characters that apperead, had some fight, a shikai + bankai or equivalent power up, and a full moveset. Currently i think they announced 22 characters. This game is going to release in the 30-35 range, having a smaller roster is always going to be better for balancing purposes like the devs have hinted at. Bleach fans will pick this game up for the story, finish it play a lil bit of pvp for the first half of its life span and move on. Clearly Bandai want this to have a live service model so it will always be better to cater to the comp audience who will stick with the game. If your favourite is left out then sorry that’s the way things go🤷🏿♂️, you can’t include everyone because the budget isn’t infinite just look over at tekken (huge roster but still missing fan favourites).

This isn't true. Most casual fans just want to play their favorite character, NOT the amount of characters. Also some of the most popular fighting games have had super small character selections, at least at the start. When I played Naruto UNS I didn't touch 95% of the rooster and I am FAAAAAAAAAAAR from a competitive player.

Casual fans are the first people playing the game, and the first people to drop the game as well. Look at how hard DB Sparking Zero's player base fell off, and it's ALL casual fans. Respectfully, the kind of people that prioritize a lot of characters care more about the novelty of playing their favorite character, over playing a good game, and that is why the fgc you so casually insulted is right about smaller rosters. A lot of characters means generic characters, and ironically unbalanced gameplay. The DB Sparking Zero grand finals fiasco is a perfect example of why a well thought out game with a small roster of 20-25 with dlc added is better than a 200 character roster where you can play with meaningless characters like Rin Tsubokura just to appeal to "casual" players 😂

50-60 is insane like that was never happening. tenkaichi 1 had 64 characters but that was with everyone playing the same. If the characters fight more uniquely than dragonball characters do you gotta lower that number significantly.
But i disagree that 30-35 is enough too. This game does not look good enough to get away with that few characters. 45 characters is a perfect number to sell itself on having a massive roster alone. No need to look too hard at the fact most of the gameplay is spamming normal attacks. A little less than 45 would be acceptable too. But 50 is pushing it way too far. Maybe if the game had a terrible, minimal story mode it could be possible. But it looks like the story mode is pretty fleshed out so yeah no way it could ever go above the 40s.
Also this game don't even look like it will reach 30 characters at this point. They keep missing out weeks and not doing double drops to make up for them.

4 character drops for the first year. I wouldn't count on DLC if i was you. It's 10 weeks until release so they have enough time to give us a medium size roster without sacrificing variety across characters and these last moveset trailers have been proof of that. Only thing that worries me a little is hiyori being part of shinjis kit which kinda gives us an idea of where the devs priorities are in terms of character selection.
