Replacing the brake booster on a 2001 Lexus IS300.
Owner says the car been sitting for a couple months. It was hard to stop when pressing the brake and it had a rough idle while braking.
A hissing noise could be heard inside the car while braking. It was the brake booster that had a vacuum leak so an internal seal is broken, the intake manifold was sucking air from the booster causing it to idle rough.

Hey bro fixed my car just now thanks to you. We appreciate your work! Saved at least a hundred bucks probably more.
thank you for being the only guy smart enough to show the hard part everyone needs to see and that is the way to remove and reinstall the under dash connections. all the other videos guys have just show the under the hood part which anybody can see how that goes.
Thanks.
This video confirms my thought on a necessity to remove a section of the dashboard for easy access to inner part of the booster.
This procedure is not even mentioned on other similar videos let alone showing it. Without this procedure the task will be very difficult if not impossible. I don't want to take risk of getting injured while working under the dashboard.
Here in this video, you even kindly show the steps on how to remove that section of the dashboard. Thank you for it.
Also you show that it is not necessary to remove those steel brake lines on the master cylinder, because there are remaining fluids on the reservoir.
I thought the clevis is part of a booster, but it's seen here that the new booster doesn't provide the clevis, so it's taken from the old booster. As long as the old clevis is still ok, it can be used on the new booster.
I have known the procedure for adjusting input rod which is related to adjustment of brake pedal height from service manual.
Nice video Angel. Not a lot of talk. Just showing how it gets done. Exact procedure followed for my Tundra. Perfect results. Thanks!!
Great video! Got another brake booster off a parted is300 because for some damn reason there isn't one anywhere! Followed it step by step and can't believe you one handed some parts! Definitely needed an extra pair of hands getting it out but this video helped with that too. Didn't need the wobble but it would have been a lot easier with it. Great video!
Thanks for this video. Was going to take it to a mechanic but now I am going to fix it myself. Thanks again!😃👍
LMfao you guys had it sitting....... My brake booster is still bad and I'm doing leg day every day. Thanks for the tutorial, now I'll replace mine on my own for my 1998 LS400
Also my symptoms for brake booster failure are: (For any other 95-00 LS400 owners to be aware)
1. Car idles poorly with A/C on
2. Poor idle in general
3. Car STALLS when it's hot out side, in park, with A/C on
4. Hard brake pedal (obviously)
5. When you lift your foot off of the hard pedal, your idle will lower, then raise, then lower again
This video was exactly what I needed.
Great video!!! Get straight to the point with it and you made it look super easy! Thank you!
U video better with one hand than people do with two hands. U should make how use a video camera. 👍
Im having an identical problem on my 1993 Buick Lesabre. Loud audible hissing coming from under the dashboard when brakes are applied. Idle is rough aswell. Thanks alot for this video!
Best explained video yet
Thanks for the video , i have the same problem , so i will be replacing the booster 2

+Fix It Angel No probs man ! As a fellow tech I see you are very good and competent at your job pleasure to watch your videos as the procedures are done right and people can learn correct methods
Awesome you are a tech too!! Did you attend any auto tech school? Just asking. But I try man, I'm not perfect but I try the best way I can on all the work that comes to me. Thank you again for watching my videos.
+Fix It Angel Yes I went to college to gain my qualification and many dealer courses, people can be mislead with videos on here and do things wrong but not with yours they are spot on
That's great!! Thank you again and have a nice day.
Excellent video by the way watched it a few times before I tried it only problem I had was the one I ordered didn't fit it was too big. So I had to put the old one back in. Guess I have good practice for when I find one finally.
I'm having a very similar problem. Hissing on the break, its hard to break, the emergency brake light stays on, rough idle but goes higher if you try holding it for a while than sits at 800rpm. I just don't know if its the master cylinder or the power brake booster. Or maybe both.
Problem is the brake booster.
Great video! Do we have to drain the brake fluid before performing Brake booster replacement?
This is good info Angel, you're very good. I had the same issue on my IS300. I had my friend replaced my break booster, the car breaks well now but most of the time now my break pedal jerks and pumps right when the car is almost at a stop. the "break lights" on the dash stays on. The issue is not consistent, Sometime the issue goes away, then after driving a lot, the issue comes back again. Do you feel its an electronics or maybe a vacuum leak or something? Would love your feedback?
Bro how do you check for bad motor mounts on a straight 6 engine?
I have a 1999 lexus es300 and a 1999 toyota solara v6 SE..do you know if the engines and/or break boosters are interchangeable..i have a bad break booster in the lexus and a bad engine in the solara v6 SE??
Aftermarket brake booster brand BRAKEBEST made in taiwan ?
i have a code on my lexus, C1201 (brake boost sensor circuit range/performance). Would this part fix my issue?
Could this cause a check engine light to turn on ?
Is this the same for 02 altima v6?
Could still been a nicer car if taken better care of... still darn good with over 200k miles. I bought the 2001 when this car 1st came out.. super nice lexus.
Would the brake booster work upside down? I sent me the wrong one ant that's the only way it fits?
new subscriber
Would a 2005 Lexus is300 booster fits Lexus is300 2002??
sorry i don't know.
nice work
sounded like some kind of porn scene when he was pulling out the break booster but over all pretty good fuckin video ...got straight down to it and sowed you what you were going to tun into ...keep it up man
lol thank you!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Where'd you order the new brake booster? I can't find one in stock online and no local shops have it.
That's odd. My friend got it at Autozone.
If you could get me the number or location of that Autozone I'd really appreciate it cause I've been looking for two weeks.

Niceeeeee 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
what would you charge for something like this
Why do you need to replace the whole power brake booster? What exactly if broken, a seal?
Hi kathleen, you are correct. please read the video description.
Fix It Angel I thought maybe it could be a seal or something cheap.
or a hose.
There we go yeah, yeah yeah, there we go. Lol
lol
just hold it. angeelllll
No need to bleed the brakes ?
Not if you do it like this. They never opened up the hydraulic system. If you remove the brake likes you would need to
I have a 2002 Toyota camry and my brake pedal vibrates when the car is idling and its worse when the ac is on. What could be the problem?
Kevin Lucas is your check engine light on?
Naw it isn't.
Kevin Lucas your motor mounts are bad
Awesome.
Thanks for posting a great video. Need to do this on a 2001 that time got from a family member. I was dreading that it was a beast of a project but you made it look like a pussy cat with no teeth. Thanks!
Reuse the gaskets? Owner is a madman I tell you
exact issue I'm having, looks like I need a brake booster.
