I need it to be an XL or maybe XXL? I just measured a totally different crochet pattern top and I need the side to side measurements to be “24 “ across horizontally. 16&1/2”” is not wide enough for my chunkier chest etc(I’m 5’0 tall so everything I make needs to be adjusted. It’s so stressful it takes the fun out of it. I love the look of this top but my short wide chest/ribs are just not going to fit. Can you please help me with the math(I’m not good with numbers since my stroke and I need help and I have nobody in my 3d life that could help) I’d so love to make this as our summer is already making temp records and I cannot wear long sleeve cotton this summer!😳

Making a top like this bigger is not difficult. Start with a dc foundation row(videos can be found) by starting with a dc foundation row 4 stitches are usually about an inch. S,m,and large necklines aren't usually much different . X, and do a few inches. For a larger chest or tummy you can keep putting it over your head to see if you are getting the coverage you need. It's all about the increases.so after the first few rows flip it over your head and allow it to lay where you want it and determine if it needs to be wider increase 4 stitches instead of 2. I lay out a tank top that fits and lay my work on top to see if I am increasing enough as I go. You can always frog out a row and redo with extra stitches. In the body of this top it is all religion with no pattern like the neck so adding stitches is easy and won't mess up the pattern.

Gauge confusion. 18 x 28 for a 4" square. Is that with the DC, HDC, or TR crochet stitch. I'm getting 12 sts for 4" in DC so my gauge is off.
It's knit, most yarn labels indicate knitting gauce
