Went into my local B & N. Wanted to get "Rebecca" on Criterion but they did not have it in stock. Ordered it online where it came in a timely manner and in excellent shape. No damage at all to the case. Thanks for your videos!!!
Very nice haul. Nanny is fantastic. It really stayed with me when I watched it earlier this year. I also picked up Nanny when I went to a local B&N on Monday, along with The Servant, Akira Kurosawa's Dreams and Y Tu Mama Tambien. A bit of a splurge for me, but I couldn't resist. No blind buys - I've watched and enjoyed all four of these.
Glad to see you picked up Defending Your Life. Always loved this film (along with Albert Brooks) and picked it when Criterion first released it during a previous sale. Really want Romeo and Juliet but waiting for a 4K version. I think you’ll really like The Others. Very atmospheric with nice twist and turns and Nicole Kidman is great in it. Let us know how it looks and sounds and if it’s worth an upgrade. (I’m coming from a DVD, any improvement has to be better than that!
I'm going to be watching Defending Your Life with my best friend once he's in town. Cannot wait for these others too. I'll see The Others soon enough and report back 🤘
Hey Nathan. I'm in the same boat with not having any stores nearby that carry any Criterion inventory. I just grabbed Eraserhead myself last sale. David Lynch is kind of new for me as well. The Brood is one of the first horror movies I watched. In 7th grade, my friend and I used to steal her older sister's copy and watched it repeatedly. Probably explains a lot. 🤣🤣🤣 Just got Moonage Daydreamon Blu-ray but I need to upgrade to Criterion. La Bamba, The Others and Nanny all awesome. 👍👍👍 Well done, my dear friend. Enjoy and much love. ❤❤💸💸
Brilliant stuff Nathan; I think ‘The Brood’ is super underrated and one of my fav Cronenberg films. ‘Moonage Daydream’ is also very good and I love to get hold of that Criterion release as it looks stunning from the cover 👨🎤❤️ ‘Eraserhead’ is absolutely mesmerisingly brilliant and very much out there; but definitely one of a kind aswell and it is like no other film out there. Need to check out ‘Defending Your Life’ as I really enjoyed ‘Lost In America’ with Albert Brooks 😀👍
I got in a session the first day of the sale; I’m going to see about going again this weekend. My goal is to grab the newer 4K releases (I don’t think I’ll be able to commit to anything until I’m in the store) and adding more silent films.
I'm going tomorrow to pick out a few. The only for sure pick ups I'm getting are actually both gonna be online pre-orders in a separate haul: The Eight Mountains: saw this as an online Sundance screening in January. I thought it was beautiful and touching. If you have long lost childhood friends that you've physically separated from, but maybe didn't emotionally get over losing, then you will love this movie The Last Picture Show: this is to me the quintessential Americana movie. The longer it goes since I've last seen it, the more I think about it. Such a great movie that somehow makes me nostalgic for a time and place I've never seen.
Fantastic choices, pal. Really want to see The Eight Mountains and will probably pick it up soon. And couldn't agree more with Lost Picture Show, absolutely essential Americana.
That Moonage Daydream release is....😍😍😍 The Others is a fantastic ghost story! One of my faves. I can't pick anything up because B & N stopped shipping to the UK 😢
I already have the Dazed and Confused blu ray, but I’m considering the 4K. 75% to have the 4K, but no joke I’m thinking about it even more because of the poster. This sounds weird, but I want to have one to hang up and one to have a complete box intact with everything still in it.
La Bamba is fantastic. For my money, it's easily the best performance Lou Diamond Phillips has ever given. Great haul!
Pretty excited to see that one. I think I may try to see it early next year 😅 Cheers, my friend!

Glad that it came unharmed! Love that film and think it's one of Hitchcock's best. Cheers!

Thanks, Roni! Really excited to see Nanny soon. I think I'll try in the next few weeks. I'm loving those other choices too! And I'm not done yet haha!

Cheers, Sam! Really excited for all those weird movies I've got for the sale 😂
The Others is phenomenal, I will also be picking that one up soon.
Really excited to watch that soon enough. Season still feels good for some spooky movies!

Great plan for the month. Those 4K discs are greater deals in my opinion. Cheers, pal!

Thanks, pal! Really excited for La Bamba!

I'm sad to hear about that not shipping to you. Such a weird thing to withhold.
LA BAMBA! I think it is really good, but I might be biased because I grew up watching it. The Others sounds interesting...
Really need to just watch that soon, I've heard such good things!

I completely understand, pal. Haha! The poster is sick 🤘
In a Lonely Place
The Princess Bride
La Bamba
Sweet Smell of Success
Gilda
Fantastic choices! Really love seeing Gilda get picked up 🤘
I bought On The Waterfront.
Phenomenal choice! Thanks for commenting and watching, Gail!
