Congrats Dave, what a magnificent machine. I could stare at those details for hours. This one ticks all the boxes: Character, style, provenance, incredible🏆
Cool Harley Dave 😎. I can remember seeing my all time favourite American ride Cal Rayborn over here in England in the early 70's for the Transatlantic series. Seeing and hearing Cal on his Harley going around Gerrards bend at Mallory Park will stay in my mind for ever. RIP Cal 😢 🏴
@@bullpencycles Gary Nixon and Dick Mann came across for the Transatlantic series as well. They were on the works triples when I saw them. Good days 👍I think at that time I was riding a Kawasaki H2 so that would be 1972.
Ah Man, That's Class, and that would be a truly emotional reunion to take it along to George Jr at a track event or something, that's a great idea! A Truly Stunning Machine! Enjoy Buddy! 👍🤘
That has always been one of my favorite Bikes of all times , congratulations ! So glad to see it still exists and in such beautiful condition , also glad it found a good home where it will be loved and cared for , I have a poster of the Bike with some hottie sitting on it that's been on the wall for years .
I'm 47 I have 01 Buell lightning x1 straight exhaust and arrow air cleaner all black bike ,87 kdx ,87yz ,73mx. That's beautiful bike the dual carbs that's cool set up . Would you ever start the bike to hear idle and throttle maybe a video. Take care
The best looking Harley post =70 imo if HD had made a street bike that looked like this the GSXRs and Ducatis would have been chasing their sales. Even a tuned down street version, my pal has the pre evo '83 Electra Glide Police special it is historically cool as well Evo a year before release to public.
Don't bet on that brake being heavier or less effective than an equivalent disc from the era. In 72 an XR750 had NO brakes, when the rules changed to allow them, a small disc was easily adapted to the rear only.
@@kurtfoulke5130 It’s unsprung weight. Every ounce counts on these race bikes. The old board track bikes didn’t have brakes and only one speed. Those guys rode them over 100 mph. Nuts.
At the end of the day those guys at Mecum are used car salesmen. So you can bet your behind they are probably genius masters at getting people to bet against themselves. That bike is a great buy at 30.
As an Ohio bike nut I got to see all the great Ohio racers back in Greorge's day! That bike is gorgeous! Cherish it!!
I hope to bring it up to George Jr for a spell.
I remember brand new Harley XR 750's on the showroom floor. I miss the good old days.
Yeah, I was a Triumph guy back then
I'm from Europe and I do remember these Harley's. Congratulations, what an awesome bike!
Cool, thanks!
Thanks for the Mecum story. I’ll bet many people have those stories.
Yeah, I think it's an opening for a straightforward, no chaos, fully transparent honest auction house.

That's funny. Here in the US, I didnt really watch the Harleys then. I rooted for Gary Nixon on Triumphs.

Thats a good looking bike. I'm not usually into race bikes, but I'd love to own that one. We need to hear it run.
We will get it going. I just cant promise when yet.
That XR TT is Freaking Gorgeous!! Congratulations on winning the auction bid for it! That's Cool 👍🤘😎🏴
Yes. I think its one of my nicest bikes, and I have many. I hope one day to bring it to George Jr, maybe even a track event
Keep us updated on that gem.
Yup. Will do
You have a great piece of history. I'm really excited for you.
Thank you!
That's one hell of a motorcycle you got there Sir good luck and good fortune with it may you both all ways shine.

Congrats on the win.
Thank you
Nice score, I'd love to have it
Thank you
Wonderful looking bike,.
Thanks ✌️
Like the Mecum story. Great score. Hoping you going to run up or even better, throw the leathers on.
Yeah, I dont think I will be racing it!
Great score and worth every penny! I wonder if Lucifer's Hammer is still intact and around somewhere.
I forgot about that. Wondering
That's one badass machine
I think so too!
Would love to hear it running Man.
Wow that’s a real cool motorsickle.hi from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Welcome. Growing viewership from New Zealand. Thank you!
Wow, what a score! You're going to need a bigger building soon.
Yes, but $$$. I feel lucky to have what I got tho!
Nice! Much better looking than the " Wild Bill " Gelbke " road dog " bike too.
Yes, but oh wait. I do have a bike to compete with Wild Bill. And just as crazy. I will be doing a video on that one too, once its ready to ride!
Sweet, I want to ride it!🤗
You and me both!

That is the plan. Maybe take it up to George Jr, and let him have a run with it.

You're right
Love it. But I bet the vibration is terrible. Love your auction story.
Maybe. We will have to find out then, eh?
@@bullpencyclessounds great 👍
I better subscribe and hit notifications.
That bike is cool!
Put a front on
Lets do a track day
Jennings gp ! 🏁🇺🇸
Maybe, but not that one. It was built for a professional, and that's not me!
The primary cover is a 60's. What kind of carbs?
xr 750 carburetor mikuni aaa ...bomba 😍
Thanks man!
Lovey bike.
Thank you
I always thought it strange that they put the heavy, less efficient drum brake on the front and the disc out back.
Gorgeous tho. 👍
True

I got it at 40 + fees. Still great I think
@@bullpencycles YES👍👍
Wow..nice collection!! Is that Hurcules for sale?? Do u think u may find a 250?? Tu
Yes. Its on our website under "bikes for sale"
Curious...being a '71, does it have iron heads or aluminum heads?
Aluminum. Dunno why they call it a 71, gonna chase down those casting numbers on the frame
Beautiful XRTT 👍
The frame could be a 71 but the alloy motor was not available until 72.
I believe when I looked at the motor numbers at the auction the motor was a J0 1980.
Did it come with a trophy girl too 😂
I think she ran away with the truck driver. All I got was a lousy photo! LOL
I hope you hire a rider to campaign this is AHRMA!
I probably cant afford that, but maybe I can get George Jr to take a few laps.
