Great bit of kit, I’ve used one for 4 years the crux clip on wind shield makes it two notches better and the shield fits any canister, well worth it fo 20 dollars or so

You read my mind! I was looking at that same stove just yesterday online -- for the very same reasons !!🔥. Why, because I often times only take a waist pack with me on my fishing boat. Because of this space is very limited and size matters but I still wanted a canister stove with a nice simmer flame. That stove's flame tends to be less rocket-like when turned down to a simmer mode. Looked to be well built, the right size for my needs, and simmers well. After your review it's looking more and more like it's my next stove !! Thanks for reviewing it. Your timing was 💯 PERFECT 👏🙌‼️
I bought mine on clearance years ago. It's a great stove. The only thing that is a littler concerning at first is there is a bit of wobble at the joint, but its fine. I haven't had a pot tip yet

Ernie, my buddy has the set, pot and stove. It is crazy fast with the pot. I'm talking less than a minute. Not my style though since I either use the BRS or an alcohol stove.
I moved over to alcohol stoves because I couldn't consolidate the canister and burner into my Toaks 550. Had I seen this video before then, I would have switched up my Amicus for the Crux and never even gone to an alcohol stove. Glad I didn't, as I'm really enjoying using my little stove now. But this video will help others who were in my position no doubt.
I stopped shopping after I got the Soto windmaster. Fewer moving parts to break and 2.3-3oz, depending on pot support. Plus great wind performance and a regulator for cold and high altitude. Love it.
Same, and for the same reasons, till I break mine can't see replacing it as far a pocket gas stoves go. With a 500ml titanium pot, fits ok enough above a small gas canister (pot lid stored in bag underneath pot) and its a compact enough for a gas setup for me.

It folds! I have the Optimus VEGA, which is an excellent remote canister stove. I was considering the Crux, but the Fire Maple Polaris has a micro regulator.
The only thing I didnt like about my Crux was the green coating on the throttle was flaking off and I would get microbits of that green stuff inside my cookpot. I sanded it all off and its 100%
the Optimus Crux HE is one of the Best stoves I have ever used. very controllable heat and super Fast. the HE makes a huge difference and I do agree with the the wind issues but a small pic of Alum foil or my trowel seems to be all I have needed. I have hiked with guys using about every brand and my Crux seems to boil water very fast even in high eleavation on a diffent note your only missing one test how much Fuel are you using to get water to boil? I would boil 2x3 6cups total and measure the fuel used. just an Idea.
Bringing up water to a boil is one thing to determine the amount of gas you need to bring. Assessing whether a canister top stove can be used to simmer or fry food is even more useful as it reveals whether or not you can use it for the type of food you wish to bring. I would like an evaluation from that aspect as well.
the snow peak giga power 2.0 with windscreen added is amazing.... would love to see your opinion. the flame front is awesome for flexibility with cooking not just boiling.

That's awesome! I've been looking for a new UL simmer stove. How is the fuel efficiency and how is it with eggs and a frying pan? I make breakfast burritos often for the scout leaders and my two piece stove the threading got messed up and I've had leaks. Not good. Need that wide burner that works like a gas stove at home.

I am really growing to like optimus. With the SVEA123r and the almost perfect HE cookset that stores the SVEA inside it is a no brainer. Also, why buy ANY stove, because there is no such thing as to many.
Nope. But the Similar Fire Maple Polaris has a regulator. The polaris however does not fold up. The Polaris is more like the Soto Windmaster, except it is smaller and lighter, has folding pot legs and there is no piezo lighter option.
Stove aside. How’d you make out with the hurricane? I know your a little more inland. But it passed closer to the side of y’all than it did me. Still making videos so must of not been to bad I’m guessing.
Thanks for providing the weight in metric. I wish you would have provided the measurements in metric too. that would have made the video useful for the 98% of the world's population not familiar with obsolete systems.
I can promise you this, there is not a stove that would stay lit in what we went through. Amazing fury. I watched a 150 year old elm tree get pushed over and uprooted like it was a toy. Craziness
I have the exact stove and have tested cooking on it, and not at full trottle as you did. When you want to let something simmer or boil long its hard to control the flow of gas that comes out right. It runs uneven and you have to adjust it all the time. Other than that it does what the man says.

I've had my Crux foldable stove for years and I absolutely love it. I've never been afraid of it getting damaged inside my pack.

Toaks 750.....The MSR PR deluxe fits nicely with a 110 canister, mini bic, sponge, and small rag.
I love the wide spread head, that makes cookig real food so much easier as it does not burn

It's good, just keep the frying pan fairly small to get even heating.

Windshield also fits nicely around a fuel canister (not much extra space)

Just picked up an older SVEA 123, have not even been able to light her up given the hurricane etc. Watch for a video in the next few months!
