It's always fun when someone discovers Home Free. They have been around for years and have an extensive TH-cam catalog of videos that are all amazing. The song we want you to avoid is "Mayday" which kind of turns the "roles" Home Free uses, right on it's head. You will really enjoy it, never fear.
Enjoy this ride, and we will nominate you to be a "Home Fry."
    Love from Florida USA

They have a deep song book. You can stay busy for years with HF. I apologize that I'm not sure what you have heard from them, but I recommend "In the Blood" and "Helplessly Hoping".

Thanks for reacting to "Ring of Fire" It was a favorite of mine when Johnny Cash introduced it--this
is a wonderful homage to a classic song. Home free also has a marvelous cover of the Crosby, Stills,
and Nash song "Helplessly Hoping," and have done their own version of Don McLean's "American Pie"
--with Don McLean singing with them. Both are some of the best a Capella singing available

And along that line, they also did a collab with The Oak Ridge Boys performing their biggest song, Elvira, and it was AMAZING! :)

This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion.

You must watch their cover of "When A Man Loves A Woman." You will melt like butter in love with Austin Brown, the tenor, who sings the lead on the song. For gorgeous harmony, I suggest Helplessly Hoping and How Great Thou Art, which was filmed in the beautiful Austrian Alps.

Yes, there are other songs that will give you the same surprise BUT you've already discovered "that guy's" range which is PART of the surprise with Mayday. His solo album song Will you still love me tomorrow/stay might be even MORE shocking and HF's original, Snow globe have the same shock value but one aspect will be missed with those two . Enjoy the journey and I hope you'll get to see them live someday.
PS "that guy" is Tim Foust, HF's bass. Others are Adam Rupp, co-founder and vocal percussionist. Chris Rupp, co-founder and Adams brother who left the group in 2016 I believe. Rob Lundquist, HF's silky smooth lead tenor and whistler extraordinaire. Austin Brown, affectionately known as "country Jesus" but with a stunning high tenor range (not a PTX Mitch but stunning in his own right). Adam Chance, known as Chance, who covers bass and can reach tenor.

As many have and will point out to you, you can't go wrong with Home Free. They do other music genres, like Boys to Men End of the Road, or go back in time to the O'Jays - Love Train. You like Austin (the tenor) in your first, and many have recommended When a Man Loves a Women. Please continue to explore their catalog of songs..... loved your reaction.

    Great Reaction!
For a little background, back around 2014 there was a TV Competition show called "Sing Off" just for Acapella groups. Home Free and Pentatonix we're both winners on different seasons. Another great group to emerge from that show was VoicePlay who are more theatrical. You should get to know all three as they are all different but amazing
Check out VoicePlay "The Dragon Born Comes", from the video game Skyrim.
Their bass singer is Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci who also helps Home Free with arrangements and collabs as a singer sometimes.
    Enjoy!

As with any genre of course one shouldn't knock country music until they've explored it. Among other things you will find tremendous variety. Some seems to barely fit within the genre (e.g. music from Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts) while others artists express clear country heart and soul (Blake Shelton's "God's Country"). More often than not country songs are relatable to anyone (Brad Paisley "When I Get Where I'm Going") often through wonderfully heartfelt stories (Brooks and Dunn "Believe"). And some is just fun party music (Blake Shelton "Boys Round Here").

"That guy" is Tim Foust, and he has a 5-octave range. Just wanted to say that I do appreciate you letting the video play uninterrupted and letting us know you reaction by your facial expression. When a reactor does that, it tells me this is about the video and not "them." Thanks.

I agree - I don’t care for most country music … but I will listen to anything Home Free does, and usually like their version better than originals of songs I’ve listened to and loved for years. Helplessly Hoping (Crosby, Stills & Nash cover) leaps to mind.
A must-see to see beatboxer Adam Rupp’s amazing talents is Ain’t Goin Down Til the Sun Comes Up, which is only available through their Facebook page due to a copyright issue (but you can react with no issues on YT). I also highly recommend his arrangement of Do You Hear What I Hear, which (IMO) shows off their incredible talents individually and as a group.
Again, to see high tenor Austin Brown’s amazing high range, When a Man Loves a Woman. Do yourself (and your viewers) a favor and react to it. You will not be sorry!
Lead tenor Rob Lundquist (“the beard”) does an absolutely amazing job in End of the Road. I also love him in Bless the Broken Road and Blue Ain’t Your Color.
Baritone Adam Chance (“Chance”) is amazing in his co-lead of Brothers in Arms, and I love his lead in Castle on the Hill, Sea Shanty Medley, and Winter Song.
And no amount of praise can cover Tim Foust’s unbelievable bass. Brothers in Arms, Hillbilly Bone, and How Great Thou Art (you also get to hear a rare Adam Rupp vocal in that one). He collaborated with Peter Hollands in Misty Mountains, and it is amazing!
To see their silly side, see All About the Bass, Champagne Taste (which Tim wrote), Cold Hard Cash (which Austin wrote, I believe), and Butts Medley (it is hilarious, and watch for Tim chowing down on the ham sandwich 😉).
Thanks for this reaction. I always love watching new people discover the amazing talent of Home Free - it’s almost like discovering them all over again myself! Keep them coming!

While Home Free is billed as a Country acapella group, they cover many genres of music. But some of my favorites are country and their gospel as well. No matter which songs you choose to listen to, they will give you something that will amaze you. Enjoy.

That’s a good song. That’s Tim you’re talking about. He’s the bass of Home Free and he has a 5 octave range…no kidding. He can sing super low and then sing up with the tenors. They are all great singers and the beatboxer is great. Avi has a beautiful voice too. I don’t like country too much but listen to Die a Happy Man, I Can’t Outrun You, What We Ain’t Got, they might change your mind. They sing all genres too. Try Blue Ain’t Your Color, Helplessly Hoping, Brothers in Arms. Good reaction Jez.😀

That was good advice, I assume that the song referred to is MAYDAY. One other thing, wait until December at least, more specifically Christmas week, before You do any of their holiday songs, obviously, but even more so, try not to listen to the religious songs until then as well. That’s my early Christmas present to You!

This is a great video but I still prefer the version our HF fellas sang for their third performance on the 4th season of The Sing Off. It just showcases their strengths even better than this one--in my humble opinion. ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
(This one does feature Avi Kaplan--another exceptional bass--who has been mentored in bass excellence by Home Free's Tim Foust.)
