James blunt wrote this song not his sister there’s a video on google he talks about because he himself has children he wanted to let his father know that he’s there to comfort him it’s the circle of life he’s going to be there for his dad when it’s his time to go he had a kidney transplant and is still alive today

That is James' father in the video. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Failure and had already donated one himself. He had months left to live and they couldn't find a donor. This was James saying goodbye to him. Luckily as a result of the song a distant relative came forward and was found to be a match and his dad is still alive today. Both James and his dad were British Military Officers and had the typical British 'Stiff Upper Lip' where you weren't supposed to show emotions so James approached it in that way.
