    James, I have been binge watching your videos and have learned so much. Thank you. I don't think soldering the lead on the rotor is due to a poor heat range of your soldering iron, or a matter of flux, solder etc. I have learned that the "copper" covering of the wires is actually copper clad aluminum. If the copper cladding is worn away, then soldering is very difficult. I have had this problem myself trying to fix a 1970's starter on my international tractor. Solutions include silver solder which sometimes works or a product on amazon called "wire glue" which is epoxy-like but conductive. Kind regards, Craig

    This turned out well. Another carb. Another rotor. A good engine. But no stator--no avr but I feel these components will make another unit happy.

    James as far as mechanical hardware goes like nuts and bolts with as many generators as you scrap out you should have a bin for nuts and bolts at your house to keep the miscellaneous nuts and bolts and as far as those things you should rarely need a trip to the hardware store sir. Gaskets are a different animal though

    James it is hard to believe that you need and nuts and bolts with all the scrap generators you have come across.

    James, I wish you hadn't blown through all the tertiary reconnections to the carburetor that you installed. I'm having to set my playback speed at the lowest setting to try and see what goes where. Thanks!

      I have much better videos on putting a Nikki/Briggs carb together. This is one of my worst videos. but people seem to find it first :(

    James I changed the avr and carbon brushes of my generator, still the voltage is fluctuating( it goes to 220 and then to 150 ). We use 220 here
    .I measured voltage from rotor with multimeter and it gives me 217, after connecting avr and carbon brush, voltage comming down to fan etc and on generator meter starts to fluctuate

      Buy a new generator

      I figured out the fault, wire comming from motor to outlet was sparking, which was causing the voltage to flicker, I changed it and now it's perfect

    James, I have a husky 5000watt generator that I tested. Has no power. I found the rotor to be bad. Where did you buy that replacement motor? Or do you have a replacement rotor? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

      @jcondon1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not purchased one, but have a couple from other Husky HU5000 generators that had bad stators. I see that the part is still available, but it is sold with the stator. Unfortunately the price is between $800 and $1000 not including tax or shipping. Also several different stator/rotor configurations were used (but same part number used), so a used rotor may not be the correct size. I would be willing to list one of my rotors on eBay, but you would have to pull your rotor off and let me know the length and width to confirm I have one that would fit.

      @@jcondon1 James my 2800 /2250 it tos running great but it won't freeze ice in a dorm room size refrigerator.

      If the Husky 2800 doesn't have an AVR what's the next step to finding out why generator runs smoothly but not creating electricity?

    James I have a husky generator that only puts out about 34 volts at outlet instead of 120 would that be my AVR ??

      AVR sorry

    • @jcondon1
      @jcondon1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a bit strange. Usually the AVR either works or does not. Your best bet is to get a multi-meter and test the ohms of the stator, rotor, and wires going into the the avr (blue wires pair and the green and white wire pair). Test the ohms of your meter first by touching the meter leads together to get the meter resistance and subtract that from any number you get while testing. Rotor should be between 45-70 ohms, stator between 0.2-.5 ohms, blue wires I think between 0.5 and 2.0 ohms. Here is a link to a video I have not publish yet that covers a lot of this th-cam.com/video/NfE7pbm0l7E/w-d-xo.html. If all the ohms test good, you will have to dissconnect the bond to ground and test for any continuity from each coil to ground. In the video link above, everything tested well and looked good. It was not until I removed the stator that I saw an issue with the stator.

      Also here is a link to a Husky service manual that might help drive.google.com/open?id=1hatgWymmuI_vQDQ07ioQWu8ShMqv0mDp. See starting on page 16

      Ok i will test all that Thanks Back in the fall i plugged in my compressor to see if it would run it and it did then this spring when i tryed it on my grinder it ran slow and found out only putting out 34 volts just a little back story. Its a 3750 watts with 4000 starting watts husky

    I didn't think husky generators had an AVR per the Manuel for the 2800 it doesn't causebi have one

    This too must be an old one. The volume of you talking was pretty low. And just the way you spoke it seemed to be an earlier video.

      It old, but not that old. Probably 5 or 6 years ago. My earlier videos were not great. But back then I only had a 100 subscribers or so.
