Page 20 of the rulebook, second column, paragraph after the bullet list - "Some Ranger cards and game effects will act upon a card and manipulate it in some way without performing a test. These effects are not considered interactions ...". The obstacle keyword prevents 'interactions' so Mel could add progress to the location using the Stave.

2:35 You have the equipment biscuit basket which wont go away but you would have to redistribute the biscuits if you do something else.

It sounds like, for when rangers choose, the choices are written so you should read all the text. Like for the lure mission thing. You couldn’t take that option if you already had a lure or confront mission.

Remember you're only on Day 1. So the flow of the game will feel pretty weird! I think splitting it, resulted in some of the confusion.
