We wrote "Betterfields" in the moment we decided to leave our country, when it started the war. It's dedicated to everyone who left their home, carrying the memories in their hearts. If you have your own stories of leaving home, immigrating, or seeking refuge, share them in the comments. Let’s support each other, no matter where we are! Alex B: I left Russia two weeks after the war began, waiting for my concert on International Women’s Day, where I performed a piece by a composer born in Kyiv and addressed my audience for the last time. I still don’t know why the riot police came to our rehearsal, but I booked a 7 a.m. flight on the next day, just in case. I had no other choice because living in compromise means deceiving myself and justifying increasingly terrible things. Russia wasn’t just my home but a part of my culture and worldview. Now I often ask myself: what does it mean to be Russian? Because it feels like it wasn’t me distancing from my home, but my home distancing from me. Alex M: Before the war I spent years on the road, traveling to different countries, playing shows and getting to know other cultures. I never thought much about what "home" meant - it was just a place I used to stay at when I wasn’t on the road. But everything changed when I had to leave Russia for good. When the war began, I couldn’t tear myself away from the news, struggling to believe that this was happening to my country. It broke something inside me. Now I feel this deep connection to the place where I grew up. Though I’m slowly healing from the trauma, the sense of home has never been more important and I can’t stop caring about what’s happening in Russia. Despite all the kindness and support from other countries, my bond with my homeland remains strong.
Both of you, a beautiful song with beautiful camera footage!. Alex B, I agree, it was the country distancing "from" you! I have online friends in Russia and Kyiv, and I am very, very worried about them, I lost contact with my dear Alla from Kyiv. Russia has now cut TH-cam from my friend and family in Russia, its now forbidden to use social media, and they have no choice but to post video by traveling to Turkey! Its sad, they just had a brand new baby not a month ago and Dan is fixing his house, we are all so proud of the work he has done. He has taken all of us on various tours of Russia on foot in Krasnodar, I could walk the streets myself and not get lost! Beautiful city, such sweet souls, I feel like they are family, but they are kept in the dark on alot of things and I worry for them as well. Alex M. ,My sweet adorable favorite guitar player,❤ I too have been following the wars, both of them! Every single day, the Russia/Ukraine, and the Israel/H. I just cant believe we are on the verge of WW3! The bible clearly states what will happen in the end times and much prophecy has already been fulfilled. We must pray for peace, love each other as much as possible supporting and leaning on our Lord for direction and strength. I pray every single day for you Alex, that your safe and your family is safe, as well as my other friends from Russia and Ukraine. It breaks my heart all the loss of innocent people. for what? land? Pride? Its all on loan from GOD who gave it to us in the first place. If you stayed, you would have to fight, and be proud in what the war and all the killing stands for. We all know the answer is No. No one wants the killing, its DEVISTATING to the rest of us watching it on the news as well. Its one thing to stand up for your country and be prideful in protest of different ideas, we all love our countries. Its quite another to remove the opposition from the face of the planet, now with extra deadly weapons pointed at each other and all I keep saying to myself is "Why? When we love each other" My prayers for you both and your country, Thank you so much for the BEAUTIFUL distraction of your music, I love it so much, , Misko you never disappoint me. All my Loves and hugs Robin.😘😘❤❤
🤍Alexandr, This masterpiece composition with Alex Boldachev is beautiful.♡ This contemplative composition takes us on a healing journey of the heart. 🤍 'Betterfields' is filled with memories of your homeland; and shares a sense of home, longing, hope, peace and love. 🤍Blessings to all🕊
I had exams when this came out and I still remember humming to this tune EVERYDAY even while writing the exams. That exam went incredibly well because of this, got 90% in the exam😁
can't tell you how important your brave stance and words mean to people around the world. The music in itself is gorgeous already and the video and your message just add to it. Keep strong and be who you are.
Was so touching and lovely to hear you both with CY Leo this week in Hong Kong, I was blown away. Thank you for all the hope and passion you share with your music, much love. ❤🔥

Hope to see you on many concerts and workshops... next tine in Hamburg in november. You know surely Sophie Chassee... and I hope one for a video with both of you or so Looking forward to all.

@@therealbahamut I used to think that tooo LOL, its all those years pounding away at the guitar, his mind was concentrated on it and we can thank him, now we have beautiful music.❤
The culture of Russia has had such a profound influence on the world. It is sad that even today artists are being displaced. But somehow you have been able to create beauty out of this catastrophy. That is amazing to me. Here in America, we have such a narrow view of the world; we make a lot of assumptions, simplifications, and believe that, because we can Google it, we know everything. (Maybe that is not uniquely an American problem, I don't really know.) Art has the ability to break that misconception down. Everyone is living out their own story. The world is big, and full of complex and amazing people. Art, music, dance, culture reflects that. And many of the best pieces were created from tragedy. I guess what I am getting at is; thanks for sharing your story. It reminds me that every conflict is more complex than goodguys and badguys, black and white morality. How actions have unintended consequences. And just how resilient the human spirit is. God bless you on your adventures, and your homes and families. May peace reign in the end.

I think, this is like with food preferences. Some people like sushi, some pizza. Some people love war, we don't.
